D3 -> A3, what's next?

D3 was launched when high capacity ASIC for DASH released

A3 launched when ASIC for SiaCoin released

lets see whatever new ASIC comes, probably that would be X3 , where X= New ASIC Coin  Wink

Considering both Obelisk and Halong Mining are developing Decred miners, I would not be surprised if Bitmain was doing so as well.

Or they might go after the algorithms mineable by the Baikals. Who knows.

Last time that i simulated earnings at whattomine, A3 was doing something like $30.
And when next batch are delivered i guess that earnings will halving like $15 or less.

If the profitability went from $500 a day to $40/day shortly after the first batch got plugged in, surely once the second batch goes live its not a huge stretch to go from $40/day to $1/day. Don't think its worth it for batch 2, within a day of receiving it it will be worthless...and that without even mentioning Obelisk...

Not quite how that works. Pretty much nobody earned $500/day, those were on paper numbers. I got mine early enough that I think I got $100 on the first day, but it was down to $50 day two.

Adding more to the network isn't the same as debuting on the network, ASICs blow GPUs out of the water, they change the dynamic of the network. Adding more just dilutes it a bit, but the initial launch exponentially drowned GPUs out.

bitmain IS developing a decred asic right now, and I would absolutely bet on them beating obelisk + halong to market

+baikalminer giant b already mines decred

With only one coin to mine and other miners coming out i wouldnt be surprised if bitmain impoded the sia market and bail leaving nothing left to be had.  Why wouldnt they.  What is their incentive to not sell the most miners they can, they are a profit driven business.

on topic of earnings,  has profit dynamic shifted regarding pools being used to mine on ie. is Luxor still profitable or do better options exist?

Hello guys, i'm thinking about buy 3 antminer A3. Problems are: they will be ship around the end of march (i mean, if they don't scam me...) and the difficult will be higher for that time.
If you were in me, will you do it? If not, why?
I still haven't bought anything, but planning to do it.

Any help and answer is VERY welcome, thanks
As far as I know bitmain is going to release ASIC ethereum miner. So I think this will be the next something like "sia attack". Ether with asic can have a great profit. (P.S I don't know that fact 100% sure, just heared here in some topics). If that's real, I think it worths to wait and put all money/effort in it.
On another hand would buy baikal giant miners if they are in stock or possible to buy.

ETH miners are already out, at least some people call them asics anyway.
Baikal are very expensive.

Ummm, link to an ETH asic? As far as I've known for, like, ever, it's a strictly GPU algo...

I'm with you on that one. I think it would be extremely difficult to create an ASIC for ETH (ethash algo) because as far as I know you still need a large amount of RAM to hold the Directed Acyclic Graph (DAG). Now if someone has figured out how to take eliminate the DAG requirement, or figured out a way to share access to the RAM, which holds the current DAG, for all the ASIC cores calculating the hashes, then that may change. The current ETH DAG is approximately 2.34 GB and growing, growing, growing. The current estimate is that 3GB cards (like GTX1060) will be no good for ETH in May 2019, but I would bet that the end is closer than that, since not all 3GB is actually available to hold the DAG.

No mining at the moment.

I'm a bit skeptical about much profit remaining in running an A3.  If you look at the other coin-space taken over by ASICS, the event marks a significant tightening of supply vs demand.

Might be better to move to mining a fresher coin and buy where ASICS invade rather than buy a device with a limited future.

There aren't much coins to mine with this ASIC.

And even coins like ZEC or ETH, they don't have ASICs but people are buying GPUs like crazy and the difficulty still skyrockets.

Mining now with an A3 sucks balls, 1500-1600 SC per day, $30 bucks basically. Hard to justify the price, hard to even reach break even.

One would need to really believe Siacoin will appreciate A LOT.

You guys on here saying the A3 "sucks balls" and expressing skepticism about remaining profit need a reality check.  Currently the A3 is the most profitable ASIC on the market.  It makes $30 a day.  The S9 is making $10 and the L3+ is making $9.  X11 is making $1.50.  3 GTX 1080ti's are making under $10 on average.   Obviously this can all change and it will, but lots of doom and gloom for something that is doing so well.

I'm in it for the long haul on the A3, and don't like the temps getting above 80 degrees. Has anybody had any luck underclocking these to a decent level? I cant seem to keep the temp below 80 despite max fan speed.

In a nice cold garage btw

575 seems to be the goto for stability. If your temps are super high, reboot. Often rebooting at the same settings will, for some reason none of us can figure out, lower temps by up to 5C.

There are different philosophies on this, but I think a lot of it comes from the fact that SIA doesn't have a maximum quantity cap, so while I do believe the price will go up from the current $.02USD, it doesn't have the same hodl appeal of other coins.

I’ve tried everything and best I can get them is running in low to mid 70’s but they average near 80 each day as I have to shut down some air flow at night.
