how long you can stay without gambling?

I gamble just as having fun only. sometimes I do not play gambling too long. sometimes I forget to play, until my friend invites to return to play.

It is great seeing people that can control and don't really rely on gambling for profit though be careful on gambling for fun since you know how gambling works and it might give a greater problem in the future. You might not gamble every now and then but still of your friend continuously invite you to gamble, you might be caught to it.

Yeah, a very good one and the thing that makes most people to see gambling as a daily routine stuff is simply because they have seen gambling as a way to make money and that has made them so addicted. It usually starts with losing a lot of money and then getting stuck with the idea that may be this last time, you can win it all back and walk away. If it was that simple, there would be no addict today and that is what a lot of them do not understand.

I admit that i am a gambler but i can control myself and could hold myself even a year without gambling.

All non hard core gamblers may control and may stay perfect. A gambler's life will be completely different before and after addictions. I did see many people got into gambling addiction even they just started to try their luck with faucets. If you stay like how you are now then you must be a blessed one, imho.

  Yeah! You are saying a right thing because when the people who go for gambling by seeing other people, they leave gambling and don’t make it a routine after losing several times in gambling. If gambling was for fun then they people would also have continued gambling because they are getting fun from it but the fun is not as important as earning money.

You are a person of strong will power that’s why you are able to stay away from gambling. But when this question would be asked from other people, I am damn sure most that majority of the replies that you will get would be saying that I can’t even stay without gambling even for one day because they have got addicted to it and made it a source of income.

Yes, someone who is able to control themselves or does not see gambling as anything that should be enough to pay all attention to, or probably always very busy, it would be so easy for such to consider gambling as fun, and only do it when they have the little chance or probably miss it.

For someone like me, there are actually some time I may just miss gambling and the fun in traditional casinos where this urge feelings will be there just to play around just the same way I would want to go watch movies or swim or do some other activities, but all these when it comes to gambling can actually be months in between.

How long we are staying away from gambling is not a big concern whereas how long we are into our regular life without getting the thoughts about gambling. Because, there will be no meaning of controlling ourselves from gambling but we must have quit gambling heartfully so that even we may get a chance to gamble, we must ignore those moments. I guess when we take resolutions with strong will-power, it may become possible.

that is great for you and you have a good control of yourself to not playing gambling. I can stay away forever because I am just time pass gambler. I never gambled for winning money. I always gambled for fun and when I have no time for this fun I never feel bad. To me, gambling is just as appealing as going to the cinema, restaurant or playing volleyball. So although I enjoy it, I don't necessarily need to gamble. I can go the rest of my life without walking into a casino.

This is really the willpower that you need to have in order to stay away from gambling before you become a addicted to it and loose all your money to it. It is also necessary that if you want to gamble you just do it for fun and nothing like to make money from it.

Yeah, having good control while gambling is always the best way to go about it so as not to end up messing things up eventually and by messing things up I am referring to one's life.

Leaving gambling is a thing of the mind as well as learning how to stay away and not make it a hobby based on the fact that the possibility of being addicted to it is there and you really want to keep putting yourself in check most of the time. you can play and quit anytime you want. excuses? No not again, that only depends on how persistent you are on quitting. In short it all depends on you, it how you manage yourself, discipline when it comes to gambling, yes it is easy to say but hard to do, but you must so in the end you wont regret . I can control the desire to gamble and even though for example when I have money but I have no mood to gamble then I won't gamble at that time. Moreover, I do gamble only with small part of my money and if I lost it, I will stop instead of chasing it with my other money.

It's obvious that anyone who chases losses lacks discipline and are likely impulsive at gambling. I personally can stay off gambling for up to any time be it short or long and such should be any ready and prepared gambler but the opposite is often the case  for many people.

In fact, anyone who ends up being an addicted gambler thoroughly lacks discipline as there is no one who can discipline and control themselves, knowing the right thing to do that will end up as an addict. Reading through this forum every day, I have actually seen people who have somehow set themselves up for addiction by thinking they are going to be making shit load of money from gambling until they get totally screwed up eventually.

Best way to make money is not playing gambling because most of the time it is the other way around. Instead of earning money, you'll end up losing your precious money against the house, pity you, that is when you are going to realize you shouldn't have tried it, that is a good sign that you'll not be into it but if you didn't come up with some realization after you lose, it is something you must worry about.

I think personally that thinking of making money from gambling is the biggest mistake one can do in his life because for me, he is believing something that really don’t exist in this world and the people who think it as a source of income and start paying with that mindset, these are the people who at the end are begging on the roads as there is no one to help them.

How can you actually gamble as a child? Usually you'd be banned from buying any sort of lottery products.

That said, I used to buy a couple of scratch tickets once in a while when I was around 15 or 16 years old.

I used to gamble much before but when I quit my job, I drcided to lay low of gambling until I dont crave it anymore. I sometimes had sleepless nights before because it was like a withdrawal reaction wherein I slept late because of gambling, but its a good thing I stopped too. Thats a kind of situation is with me cant stay away from gambling a single day.As long as i have money in my account i continue to gamble and i cant stop myself.I keep gambling until i loose my money then i stop...that is a strong addiction and i am trying hard to stop that.

You have noticed your addiction already and you are now trying to stop. It is indeed hard to do but at least you should try stay away for a while without it. You say you cant stay away even a single day, then you should try to gamble once a week or once per few days only. Dont you have any other daily activities that requires you to spend many hours a day like working in an office or something else?

As much as being addicted starts from the mind, I believe stopping also starts from the mind. Sure, it is not easy but as long as a gambling addict is ready to want to make amends to stop, they will always be ready to do everything in their power to achieve that.

The impulses may not be easy to get thrown out just like that, but with patience, dedication to improving, it should be easy. As long as you have daily activities to take your attention away, staying away from gambling or how long you do would not really matter.

Well we always stick to what we enjoy even if it's not productive until it burns us. Good for you that you manage to turn around after getting shocked. Some addicted gamblers are so deep in their addiction that they can't do it by themselves.

That is really amazing. Believe me you have done something extra ordinary that not everyone can do. Every gambler, at some stage of his life, will come to know that this gambling was the hardest part of his life and the biggest mistake as well.

Obviously, there is no way that at a point in time, every gambler will not know that their gambling activity is getting out of hand. However, most of the time, there is just usually that thing that speaks to you like, just one more time and you can relax and that is how it all starts and you see yourself fully in it and trying hard to stop.

It is good if you can control it right from the start than it taking over you and finding a way to let yourself out of that bondage in the long run as that is the hard thing about it.
