Merit system is not working, failed!

For the time being, we can only say that we have not succeeded, but we can not say that we failed. After all, we still have a lot of spam restrictions. Just do not know how long such repression can last.

Hopefully once we get rid of the bulk of the spammers, their repression of the decent members will be ameliorated.

Maybe an insta-ban for newbies who only post 'when lambo' or 'when airdrop'? 

Or filter out everybody who writes English like a 4-year old but has a legendary / full member-status. I seem to come upon those a lot lately.

English isn't my native language but at least try to do some effort. I improved my English by watching the Fresh Prince of Bel Air. Also improved my Carlton-dance-moves.

Actually, it works because I get merit for my constructive thread. Of course, by now I got only one merit for one of my constructive posts (I simply call them constructive, not high-quality), but I might get more merits when more readers read my posts. Some of them will like my threads,feel satisfied and send their sMerits to me.

Users who are simply join the forum for getting money and begging for merits will certainly not get them as main point of merit system influence.

Actually, what is really irritating about merit system is not the system itself (with just some adjustments it will work fine) but the incredible arrogance of those who feel protected in their position and talk as they were professional copywriters.
Let be serious: there are a lot of high ranks that - with the new rules - would be still jr. member, and this is very simple to verify if you check their history.

I don't complain about this, life is unfair and - if someone was in the right place in the right moment - I congratulate him.

But I ask them a favor: stop making fun of us!  Enjoy your privilege and shut up!

I think the point was that sometimes you see posts from people of a higher rank, you wonder how that person was ever able to gain that rank, because their posts contain only rubbish and newby-content. I understand that can be frustrating to see.

The merit system have not failed. I feel if you make a quality post that solves someone problem merit may be given to you. Just make sure you work hard and obey the forum rules.

When something is implemented or changed to the systematic form initially some issues will be arising. One such is the recent merit trading for the purpose of getting into signature campaign. Now, those users getting tagged will let the rest of the users understand the tragedy behind such activity.

thought this would be a thing when i read about the merit system being implemented a few weeks ago, havent really had time since then to be on the forum to see it happen though. of course, i don't know if these changes may already have been put into place, or if the system has changed, but implementing a cooldown on giving the same user merit per 24 hr period or applying diminishing returns for merit given multiple times in a given time period might prove effective to stopping this.

it's to be expected when there's money involved, especially when third world country users starting thinking that posting on a forum qualifies as actual employment. it's no different than people farming accounts for campaigns.

i've seen this line of thought thrown out here multiple times, but the spammers never really do stop do they? it's not going to be a problem that i think will ever get solved unless theymos starting putting down some really strict rules, which i dont believe he will do something that severe.

Looks like merits could be found more on this thread, that is why if you have notice, every signature campaigns allows their participants to post on meta, which is not allowed way back then when we don't have this merit system yet, but I am not against this merit system, this merit system minimize those users who are creating more accounts so that they could abuse every signature campaign.

With this system, those kinds of people will have second thoughts, they are going to be lazy on making multiple accounts since ranking up is too hard if you are not posting good quality post, so if you are not gaining any merits at all, meaning you should improve more of your post quality.

Your post is very confusing. At one point you are saying that new members are only posting complains about the merit system. Then you start criticizing the senior embers that they are making money with signature campaigns. Who is right here then ? I think we have all types of people in different ranks. The rank of a person has nothing to do with his character, a senior member might not be very well behaved. Personally, I had got good encouragement and support from all members here.

Giving merit to Heros and Legendaries allows them to pass on sMerit to other posters - that's the way the system works. It also gives us some feeddback on the community sentiment about our actions. Right at the moment I'm getting seriously p'd off with the lazy arses who can't be bothered to search before asking a question for the 200th time, and posting it on the wrong board. It's a pretty thankless task scanning through hundreds of ill-written and badly structed posts. Maybe I should give up and see if I have a domain name with "coin" in it to start my own parallel chain.

See, I understand that it might be frustrating not being able to get merits even after some good quality posts especially for new members. I even saw some senior members complain about this. Hopefully, everyone who gives smerit here in the forum will be fair enough not to give because you know him. Yeah, people here got frustrating not being able to get smerits because some of them are hurrying to rank up. Not fault of merit system but those members here who will give smerit some of them are having favoritism to the members that they send smerit.
Just like me, i suppose to be a Full member now but I stock here in my rank but well, it's a new challenge.

Some people will not give you merit because they try so hard to get that number of merits, but some other people who has enough merit to give someone who is barely need a merit. Its hard to earn merit indeed but it is for the forums good, to feel the spammers that they are not fit in this forum.

Yep, the laziness of noobs has been a problem for a long time now--since way before the merit system, but now every time I see a noob boob starting a stupid thread, my suspicion is that it's to earn merit. 

And yeah, good posts are buried under a mountain of garbage,  BUT I've sent a lot of merit to jr members who made some effort at posting interesting stuff.  I wasn't familiar with most of the users I gave merit to, so it's not like I gave it to all my favorite members (though they did receive some). 

Meritless noobs are just frustrated and pissed off, and they'll make their narrative fit whatever argument they think sounds best. The truth is that their posts suck.

It's not true that the system is not working: as I wrote in another thread, the main goal - to reduce spam and shitpost - is achieved, and there is a general improvement of the quality of the posts.
And i't not true that it's impossible to rank up: I received 16 merits starting from zero, so - even slowly - its' not impossible.
And if spammers and shitposters will be discouraged... well it seems to me a good results

Of course, there are a lot of aspects that can be improved, but I saw that Theymos is very open to advice, so...we'll see.

Uhh, that's why they're newbies? I'm not taking their side, its just that you might want to take it into consideration at some point (instant ban, that's pretty harsh TBH). If you don't like what you see, then report them. But on the other hand just help them, and what I mean is that, don't just provide them what they need - guide them to what they have to do.

If you realized it by now, the ranking system back then was not taken into effect, its like just how long have you been here (thanks to the Merit System then).

Like you've said, maybe English is not their native language. But you're right they have to make some effort if they wanted to improve.

We need to learn to give out merit to rewarding post.    We have started seeing the effect of the merit in many account lately as they don't have sufficient merit to rank up but there activities are already there  to help them rank up unlike before. We should have had many new ranks now but I have barely seen anyone ranking up yet because of the draw back from merit.

I see merit point is currently still very rarely used, could be said to us as a user who is stingy. But I am sure over time all things can be improved and also will be a much better implementation. Merit is the subject of discussion at this time, there are people who feel harmed and some are not. But the real shape is now we have very rarely see post shit, everything gets better and all users try to make the post useful and much more qualified than ever before.
