Now this is just a wild guess, but at least with Bustadice the fees are recalculated regularly (every minute?), and depending on the load of the network, sometimes higher and sometimes lower.
What speaks against this being the case for you is the big difference between the calculated fees. The differences are usually much smaller, there are often only a few sats if, for example, you have the widhdrawal page open for a longer time and only perform the widhdrawal after 5 minutes.

No, that's not it, I had the estimations change within literally two seconds so it looks like it's a bug.

But I posted in the wrong thread, meant to post in the bustadice thread (although it's possible that the same would happen on bustabit, too, seeing how both sites are similar in many ways).

Each block is stacked on top of the previous one. Adding another block to the top makes all lower blocks more difficult to remove: there is more "weight" above each block. A transaction in a block 6 blocks deep (6 confirmations) will be very difficult to remove.

I noticed a minor bug: at my deposit ETA page the recommended fee alternates between 24.82 sat/vB and 182.03 sat/vB as I refresh the page (not on every refresh page, though).
I think ~25 sats would have been very difficult to withdraw since it would have taken a lot of hours but that is probably bare minimum without failing to go, like 2 days to go type of situation. However 182 was the norm, yesterday I did with 163 sats and it worked with like 3 hours or so, still not fast but that was the cheapest I could find with enough time to wait before I go to bed so that is what I did. At the end of the day you could basically use anything above 30sat/byte and you will get it so its kind of makes sense.

If you check bitcoin fee on those fee calculations website you will realize that the difference is that big in there as well, there is a huge difference between "I am willing to wait 24 hours" and "I want it in 20 minutes" levels, like 30 sats to 300 sats type of huge difference.

I think ~25 sats would have been very difficult to withdraw since it would have taken a lot of hours but that is probably bare minimum without failing to go, like 2 days to go type of situation.

The reason why the fees are so low here is that these non-instant widhdrawals are processed in a batch. This means that all pending Withdrawals are collected in a period of time and are only executed when a certain criterion is reached (a certain number of total BTC, 24 hours have passed, ...).

You can see this quite clearly if you look at one of the transactions:

(I've blackened out the addresses so no one gets pissed if he/she sees his/her address here ... just in case, you never know ... Wink )

The transaction cost a total of 156 sats in fees, but for me personally only 43 sats - and I only had to wait about 3 hours for the transaction to be completed.

It was a deposit, not a withdrawal, but it didn't actually take very long for the transaction to confirm, less than an hour, actually.

Basically ever since May 2020, the transaction fees have been very erradic. The way that most bitcoin exchange and services calculate the fees is usually some API where they get some fee to use so the confirmation confirms by next block. These fees generally are very high especially during periods of congestion, reason why is because if a transaction isn't confirm "very fast" then the user will most likely complain about the casino.

If you use a service which has a dynamic fee that is charged by you, then use something like,
http://core.jochen-hoenicke.de/queue/#0,24h

And only do withdraws when its in the 1-5 sat/byte range, generally this is usually on weekends.

The estimates on the /deposit-eta page rely on Blockstream's API. It looks like this is a bug or caching issue on their side.

The real problem here is not the fee's actually but the way exchanges usually try to save their own ass by charging a lot more. That is why I think bustabit is rare and casinos for some reason are doing much better than exchanges in general as well.

Considering the fact that you could get lucky in casino games, go into a website, deposit 10k, bet on x10, win 100k and leave (unlikely but not impossible) and there is no way exchanges could lose money on you, you pay them trading fee and never earn anything from them, it should have been just the opposite. They are already making a profit on you, depending on how much you trade, the withdrawal amount should be dropping, and even be zero if you trade enough. Casinos are doing much better even if you end up winning.

I agree that you should not be losing all of your money that quickly here since there is basically a chart that keeps going up and even though sometimes it ends very quickly, you have a bankroll that you should really take care of as well. If you run out of money that quickly it is not really a good strategy to begin with and I agree.

However let's not act like millions of dollars have been lost here since the start neither, people DO lose money here all the time every single day, usually not that quickly, but even if it takes longer period of time they do end up losing all their money. Look at the start of the casinos bankroll and look at all the profits made since that moment, you gotta realize that no matter what your strategy is, there is a huge chance you will end up losing all your money.

Dont forget. Its still a casino!
Yes, you can win and yes you can lose.
There is no profitable script that will beat the system in the long run.
You can win short term, best to take money and move on.
But greed, is what gets all of them!

I mean there are scripts which will give you profit short term... Its just you need a big bankroll, to substain variance.
Just dont let it run unattended.  Grin

Haha yep! Few years ago thought I had a strategy that accounted for variance -$200 later haha. Was a costly lesson!  Grin

Of course you could make some profit in the short term and that is basically what the gamblers are hoping for, gambling for one hour per day and making just 5-10 dollars per day using 100-200 dollars and just keep doing that. However, what they are not understanding that long term losses equals to that 200 dollars as well.

So, you make 10 bucks a day for 15 days, on 16th day you lose all 200 and that is how casino makes the money, you think you made a profit, after all it is 15 days in a row and some people even increase the bankroll to make more money as well, some are smarter and do not change whats working. In the end casino always wins, it is mathematically impossible, but I guess scripts would take the blame out of you, at least it won't be you that lost the money, you can blame the script for losing all your money.

I would correct that slightly:

There are scripts that might make you a profit in the short term, but could also cause you to go bankrupt Wink

In the end, the House Edge is always there for a good reason and makes sure that the casino comes out with a profit. If there were ways to get rid of the House Edge, the scripts would be blocked immediately.

I have a device with a standard aspect ratio of 16:9, in other browsers the same. Results of previous games and hashes in small print, but useless information and menu large. Also the chat line doesn’t fit, in order to write something and then send a message, you need to scroll.
