Yes it can.  I think blockchain can continue without bitcoin, it will not have any effect. But bitcoin needs blockchain. So there is no doubt that blockchain without bitcoin can not be run.

Blockchain Technology was driven to fame by its application on Bitcoin Gold due to its encryption that has been considered hacker proof. Bitcoin has been used as a reference to its success, providing a secure network for users.

The question however is, can blockchain succeed without bitcoin?

I am sure that they can because there are a lot more of cryptocurrency than bitcoins like ethereum which is really great also so that means the blockchain is just a platform on that things and if bitcoins is not around there will be one coin that will stand out just like what happens to bitcoins because the people will always have one common coin that will use for thrm to be the same. So wihout bitcoins maybe ethereum will took place.

Blockchain is one of the famous wallet and transaction method.but bitcoin has a few more popularity to the worlds people.without bitcoin.blockchain can survive or not? i will say it can survive but the matter is they have. to face a huge lose because most of the transaction in blockchain and other wallets has been done in bitcoin.and its the most demandable coin to investors or buyers.so 1st of all there transaction rate will discrease if they remove bitckin transaction method.thwn people will use another wallet..what also have othr coins exchane method also.so it can be possible they will not use blockchain anymore.but all over i think it can survive but..its earning level will go down.

Blockchain is the technology where bitcoin is build so yes blockchain can survive without bitcoin. Blockchain can be used in various ways infact blockchain is used in some hospital where they used blockchain in keeping there medical records online so that it cant be tampered. But as we all know that blockchain is created with bitcoin in its side so blockchain can survive without bitcoin but bitcoin cant survive without it.

Of course the blockchain can survive without Bitcoin. There are already established coins like Ethereum which are ready to take the lead. Also its time to separate the association of blockchain with Bitcoin. Bitcoin is just a currency using the blockchain technology and isn't the only one at that.

Originally, the blockchain is a new type of database that can be used and maintained without a central administrator.

Unlike a traditional, relational database, the blockchain is administered through a consensus protocol. Therefore, whenever the word “blockchain” is used, we should ask which “blockchain” is in question, i.e what is the protocol ruling said blockchain.

The original Bitcoin blockchain that lives on the global Bitcoin network has proven to be an effective and reliable tool over a period of more than seven years with a 99.99% availabililty.

The properties of the original Bitcoin blockchain can be altered, often deteriorated, by any seemingly inocuous deviation from the original Bitcoin protocol.

For instance, Ethereum deteriorates the security of the blockchain by adding (unnecessary) complexity, Litecoin deteriorates decentralization by shortening the block intervals, proof-of-stake protocols turns the “public” blockchain into a semi-private blockchain by merging two roles (users and miners), etc..

Specifically, the addition of one or more designated “administrators” defeats the purpose of the invention and leads to unclear benefits compared to a traditonal relational database.

So far there is no compelling evidence, other than expensive trials by big banks, that a “permissioned” blockchain is more cost-effective, practical or secure in the context of a private network.

Crucially, the value of tokens on a private blokchain is not a market value but a conventional value aggred upon by the network participants: these tokens are in fact IOUs recognized only by the parties.

The absence of bitcoins as “bearer assets” removes the option to use Bitcoin transactions as a trustless settlement mechanism.

No, I don't think blockchain will survive without bitcoin, Here are the reasons for Michael Casey- Chairman Advisory Brd of CoinDesk. Ex-WSJ columnist and author of "The Truth Machine: The Blockchain and The Future of Everything" is coming out later this month. Bitcoins are just a pawn for blockchain technology. Blockchain is just practically the king and the rest of the cryptocurrency is pawns. The blockchain will survive even without bitcoins. There are far many cryptocurrencies out there capable of movement and transfer.

Blockchain is blockchain. It will remain as it is. It will survive with crypto currencies. Bitcoin just happen to be the most famous and successful online money. If there is no Bitcoins, blockchain will find another coin and stay famous. Blockchain is the future, with or without Bitcoins.

Blockchain is a new type of database that can be used and maintained without a central administrator. Blockchain has many potential uses and it is not limited to securing Bitcoin, therefore it will survive even without Bitcoin. It is just that most developers focus on using it for creating new cryptocurrency that is why some people think blockchain can only be used in cryptocurrency, which is not true. It can be used in securing different kinds of data. One typical example of its uses is; it can be used for the better election of new country officials, in this case when blockchain is used in the voting system, it will be more secured and blockchain technology can prevent data from being edited or from any change because all stored data are permanent .......

Blockchain technology is the main core of bitcoin and that is the reason why a lot of people believed in bitcoin because of its technology so I think it can survive without the name of bitcoin, banks even want to use blockchain to improve their service to people this means that bitcoin’s technology is a success and that will lead the price of bitcoin to soar.

Blockchain is an innovation and Bitcoin is a coin. Blockchain can run a boundless assortment of such coins like Bitcoin. All coins in the crypto showcase depend on blockchain innovation. What's more, what is the principle is that blockchain can run coins, as well as any sort of value-based information.

Although bitcoin did a lot of promotion for the achievement right now, blockchain will still exist and thrive even without bitcoin in the first place, its more like a car will still exist even without any advertisement to promote it as long as the car serve a purpose for the mass.

Blockchain is not just about bitcoin because it is the overall term for the technology that the cryptocurrencies are using and yes they can survive without bitcoin or even other cryptocurrency because it can be still used by the different people who have got some ideas to create and bring it to reality using blockchain that will make sure that it is more secured and has a better system.
So it means that blockchain isn't really related to any cryptocurrency. But considering the thing that is happening now, it's like the dependency of blockchain towards cryptocurrency is just too much. I don't know but maybe anyone else here could help me to mention the blochchain technology that isn't related to cryptocurrency. Thank you.

The BTC was and continues to be the main advertising medium for blockchain technology, but the blockchain has become something very large and does not need bitcoin to propagate

Definitely yes. Blockchain is the basis of all the crypto currency. Rather, the crypto currency will not survive without a blockchain.
