Yes Block chain can survive without Bitcoin, Block chain is just an open ledger that account for the transactions that has taken place. It doesn't in anyway fully depend on BTC, Bitcoin only introduced to the world, There are lots of blockchain applications that are being developed out here currently, the medical field is adopting Block chain for its records, The banking sector for its transactions among others.These two arent attached at all, and dont be surprised if Block chain becomes a success more than BTC

Impossible to happen. Because bitcoin is the beginning of the emergence of blockchain technology and crypto currency or cryptocurrency. Without bitcoin, other occurrences of blockchain may not be present.
