if you have trading skill you can try investing in ico's. if not, i suggest buying either btc or eth. it's safer for a newbie to have some longterm coins to hold

In my point of view BTC buying is good for newcomers because there is scamming chance in ICO projects. Before invest in ICO you should study about ICO projects and when you achieve a clear idea about ICO then you should invest I think.

For someone new in this market, I would always recommend to buy some Bitcoin first. In this bearish market, especially. Sometimes going slowlier will bring us further, ICO investment needs a bit more wisdom IMO, so rather not just jump into it.

This is a very general question for market but you should know that there is no consensus we should buy btc or participate to any ico. You must look to market conditions and then you can give some decisions, at these days do you think any ico can get profit? I think answer is no so you must not participate to ico nowadays.
