Thanks for sharing: is it a mandatory update or we can still run our 1.11.2 without security issues?

So Ardor is like an improved version of NXT? What is the use of NXT now?

I'm going to upgrade to the new NXT client version, NRS v.1.11.3. I've read that you should delete the the original client before installing a new version (but not the blockchain file).
I've upgraded the NXT client on two occasions before without deleting anything. I found that when I installed the new client it seemed to simply write over the old files and everything to worked perfectly afterwards. Am I right in continuing to install the new client without deleting any files beforehand?

Change log:
Fixed missing plugin files error in the client.
Backported minor bugfixes from the Ardor branch.
Treat all text/* media types as text, not just text/plain for the data cloud.
Updated Jetty to version 9.3.16, delete the old lib folder before unpacking on top.

@lurker10 - text in bold emphasis noted. Thanks. Looking in my AppData > Roaming > NXT folder, I have 3 sub-folders: conf (with .lock; logging properties; and nxt.properties files inside); logs (with nxt; and nxt.log.1 files inside); and nxt_db (with nxt.h2; and nxt.trace files inside) ... so what do I need to delete? There is no "lib" folder that I can see connected to NXT (I do have a general Libraries folders with Documents; Music; Pictures; and Videos files inside, but no NXT). I assume that the conf and logs folders should be on the delete list while the nxt_db (database?) folder should be kept intact. I think non-techy NXT adherrents, like myself, might appreciate guidance on this (my operating system is 64-bit Windows 7).

In that case try opening https://bitbucket.org/JeanLucPicard/nxt/downloads/nxt-client-1.11.3.exe and see if gets your NXT upgraded without manually deleting anything. I have never run NXT on Windows but I read that developers worked hard to enable smooth upgrade on Windows OS with clicking exe and following steps there. Please report if it was successful. If all fails, delete everything related to nxt except nxt_db.

"lib" folder is in NRS installation folder, which is in C:/Program files/NXT. So just delete "lib" folder from here and you can install new version over the old one.

Enjoying the book about the first second generation cryptocurrency Nxt. Read all about the history, the legends, the troubles, the marketing, the friendships, the tech and why it's mindblowing stuff!

I don't really understand the split now -can someone please explain to me difference / relationship between nxt/ardor and which would have more development this year? Thanks! NXT 1.0 is in maintenance, bug fixes only. Ardor is all the rage now, currently in testnet. It's based on NXT 1.0 but has much better scalability, ~35x more scaleable than Bitcoin. You need NXT 1.0 coins to receive IGNIS child chain coins in Ardor in Q3, 2017 when Ardor is launched.

Nxt running smooth solid and secure since 2013 in production. Ardor solves scalability and blockchain bloat as the first ever, currently on testnet.

There is no central server in Nxt to have 2fa, it's all peer-to-peer. Welcome to blockchain
