i would vote for MNC too, maybe the exchange rate will rise. additionally you can make profit through trading it.
or is there some serious disadvantage with merged mining?

Well I was proposing Elgius as primary, but I was open to failover pools. What do you guys think: are the higher fees of the "giants of mining" (50 & BTCGuild) worth the higher likelihood of winning ASIC lottery tickets?Awesome job -R-! BTW: Do you have a magic paper clip that helps to keep magic smoke inside the box? I when I saw that's basically part of the instructions. BTCGuild and 50BTC offer something in return for their very reasonable fees - consistent earnings. I used to mine at Slush quite a bit, and they aren't one of the smaller pools. They could hit 20 to 24 blocks per day when luck was running hot, but still had days where a 14 hour block and a 7 hour block could take you down to just 5 block a day, or 1/5 of the income as compared to better days. But it all averages out - I find BTCG, 50BTC, Slush, EMC, Eligius, GigaVPS, BitMinter, OzCoin and even HHTT all pay out roughly the same over a long period of time if you mine on them consistently. I've spent many, many months of sending the same amount of hashrate to multiple pools and comparing the payouts over longer periods of time - weeks at a time - including the little bit extra you get for merged mining on some pools, and they're all virtually identical, payout wise, long term. That's why I don't much like merged mining - it adds a great deal more hassle for the same returns. These days I make 30 to 40% more than I would straight mining by switching betweeen pools under certain conditions. You would probably call what I do pool hopping, but of course no one can do that, because all the pools will tell you that they are hop-proof, right? No magic paperclip. I use something a little bit more classy than a paperclip, and I'm always looking for an excuse to order more stuff from the robot shop: http://www.robotshop.com/cytron-atx-power-supply-breakout-board-right-angle-2.html -R- I saw that in your pics and was wondering how much that cost you, or if KnC gave it to you with the Jupiter (cuz they know you're gonna most likely end up needing to use a PC PSU, and this definitely beats the paperclip trick). Mind you, when I had PSU(s) ... 'paperclipped' I wrapped two layers of Gorilla tape around that bitch and there was no way that clip was coming out, and no way of the paperclip touching anything mettalic, or myself. Wish it wasn't $10 though, cuz once it hits the border it'll become another $20-$30 in custom's brokerage fee's fuckers. I'm sure other shops I use have something like this (and certainly cheaper then $10), i'll have to keep my eye out (eg. Monoprice if u want cables or adapters ). EDIT: Well shit, let me eat my own words. Cuz they have a Canadian shop as well as an American one. EDIT 2: I forgot to ask. Are USPS deliveries of an $8000 piece of hardware whose box has been mangled SOOO badly commonplace to you (and other American's)? Cuz those pics, i've never received, or ever even seen a package delivered to someone (my next door neighbour is our streets mail lady so I see a lot of stuff she delivers) that's in that terrible a shape. I would be utterly outraged, and even though i'd not actually gain anything from it, i'd be having a long, very loud, very vitriolic conversation with USPS customer support on the phone about this. Like ... I don't even own your Jupiter or had anything to do with it's delivery, but i'm so extremely angry right now. I salute you for not flipping the fuck out like I would have lol.

You can find similar things for less. I've seen similar stuff on eBay for a couple-bucks... And yes, I've done the paperclip trick many times. Couple wraps of electrical tape and it's nearly as good. Just doesn't have shiny LEDs that light up BTC Guild hashrate has settled down nicely to a solid 275 Gh/s for both R5 and R6 - the Jupiter was a little wobbly overnight but seems to have burned-in and stabilized (oh, maybe "burned" is a bad word to use here? ). We just filled in 10 PPLNS shifts, so we're ready to start making some BTC now. Should have the payout spreadsheets ready for everyone to verify by tonight... EDIT: The outer box is pretty thin. According to Bitcoinorama the packaging is designed so the outer box can be damaged but not affect the machine inside. The heatsink fans just "snap on" and off of the heatsinks with hand pressure , wouldn't have taken much of a bump to shake them loose. Other than a non-working case fan, and a trip to the hardware store to pick up an SD-20 screwdriver, it didn't take much more than 2 minutes to get everything put back together and tested. No big deal really, it came up and ran fine, which is what is important. I've had computers shipped to me where the video card has broken loose and ripped itself out of the PCI socket and then proceeded to pretty much destroy everything else inside the case, including the motherboard and CPU. That's a much worse a problem than having a couple of plastic shields shaking loose. -R-

Unless anyone objects, the current plan is to ship this machine (and any others that have shown up) via overnight shipping to hosting on October 16th. We'll hash straight through the October 15th payout date, and end up just losing one day in the next bi-monthly payout period, which happens to be 16 days long.
I'll get the first batch of GB5/GB6 payouts done right after shipping stuff down to bobsag3. You can expect to receive payouts shortly after the 1st and 15th of each month...

Should also be cheaper. I only need the 4 boards with chips + HS's + control/power board right? Overnight that to me so I can get them hashing ASAP, and the case can follow slowly.

I think that the heatsinks fasten to the case, which would nix that idea. The whole thing is pretty light overall - about 9 kilos - and probably 5 of that is case.

I would consider the ease of shipping vs cost. SO not knowing how much this thing weighs, but it is a lot easier to safer to ship the case and all over night, than to pull apart ship chips and board then rebuild at a later date. Obviously costs determines it all. Plus are you shipping the powersupply? It might be an idea to have bobsag buy the same one there then to ship it, as that weighs a lot. plus you can return yours and refund money etc etc. and it can all be there ready to just plug in and go.

Already had bobsag3 buy four hx1050s to power the boxes - should be all set and waiting there.
And no, I wouldn't return products for a refund that I purchased and used successfully - that's really low class.
Besides, of the 4 PSUs that I bought, I need one for the Saturn that I'll be keeping at my place, plus another 3 for my BitFury units, so I do have a use for all 4 of them. And I must have a dozen different cooler master and ThermalTake cases around that I could build new systems in if I wanted to put the PSUs to some other use. (But I've gotten more into building systems around Raspberry PIs rather than desktops.)

Awesome response. Another note, considering October is out big month of profit based on http://mining.thegenesisblock.com/a/c675a3526a what about we hold off shipping till November, is that at all a possibility. Loosing a day in november costs a lot less than loosing a day in october. Just a thought, don't know the ramifications of everything else just the costs. Also what if shipping causes, either a lost shipping delays etc and we loose 2 o 3 days?

Ha! I have your 4 1050s sitting in a box, 2x evga 1300s left over from singles, and a much much larger box with 12 HX 1050s. Addicted, yes, problem, probably.

The addition of the single Jupiter is already causing me to have to run my A/C 24x7 - these places are extremely well insulated. And you should know by now that if something goes wrong, I'll make it up to the GB owners to their satisfaction. I've already said that I'll run a third or fourth Jupiter into the GB wallets to cover any down time or shipping delays by KnC. And if they get dealyed past October 15th, I have 800 Gh/s of Bitfury gear coming around that time that I can point at the GB wallets, too... -R-
