Important information for windows wallet users from the $PAC team!

Fully uninstall your older version of paccoin-qt.exe and any desktop shortcuts etc.
Before you do that, make sure you make a backup of your wallet.dat and masternode.conf first and then remove paccoin-qt.exe - these can be found in:
%appdata%\PaccoinCore\

The new installer places paccoin-qt.exe in a new file location.

Then make sure you are running the latest version; you can check version info by going to Tools > Information (client version should be v0.12.6.0-437aeea).

$PAC team is currently investigating an issue with some wallets going onto a different chain. At this stage, there is nothing to be concerned about, as this seems to have been a temporary problem. The new 51% penalty system has done its job in ensuring the correct chain retains control over the network.

Currently one does not believe a 51% attack was attempted. It seems to be more of an issue with a mining pool investing significantly more hash into the project, due to increased demand/profitability and thanks to the new reward structure.

If you find your wallets unable to sync, please reindex your 12.6.0 wallets and check you are on the correct block height.

Please try rebuilding index again - also, make sure you are using the current wallet version (0.12.6.0).

$PAC masternodes are a way for community members to provide service to the network by putting up a certain amount of coins (= 500k) in their $PAC wallets in return for a reward. Furthermore, the masternodes enable their owners to take part in approval / disapproval of the project proposals and hence help steer the development of the $PAC as such. One major advantage of a masternode layer is the ability to send and receive instant irreversible transactions in a ‘trustless’ manner (aka Instant$PAC). I hope you are aware you are quoting a statement which is roughly one year old.
In between Coinexchange was available for $PAC trading, deposits and withdrawals.
Currently, one is trying to negotiate with Coinexchange at which terms they would be performing the latest $PAC wallet upgrade and resuming normal $PAC operations on their platform.

It is good that you are careful - if you have any questions, please ask, I will try to help or at least direct you to someone who can.
Assuming that you have visited the $PAC website (https://paccoin.net/) already, perhaps one of the first best steps would be joining the $PAC discord server and checking first hand how the $PAC community and the team are working together to push the project forward (invite: https://discord.gg/Bx2HKfy).
If you are worried more in a general sense, you could simply take part in the $PAC discord trivias (two dates are still available, 20th of March at 22:00 CET and 27th of March at 10:00 CET), and whatever $PAC you earn you can move to one of shared masternode services to get involved, i.e. get the feeling how the project is running.

I guys, I have a problem with the update. I have my paccoin wallet and my backup. I downloaded the new wallet on March 12th but the amount of paccoin it is not showing, theres like 2800 paccoin, I know its not much but I do not understand. paccoin explorer shows the amount of coins but I have no acces through the wallet. Any ideas?

If you have indeed generated the backup copies of the wallet.dat, then please do following:

1. Check if the version of the wallet you are using is indeed the latest (0.12.6.0). If you are not, most likely you are simply using an old shortcut and the new wallet version can be found, assuming you are running Windows OS, in the C:\Program Files\PaccoinCore or C:\Program Files (x86)\PaccoinCore folder (depending on whether you are using 32- or 64-bit version of the wallet).

2. If you are using the newest wallet, wait for the wallet to sync and then check your block count against http://explorer.paccoin.net/; to view the block count of your wallet go to Tools > Information. If your block count matches the explorer, the wallet itself is running fine and the correct amount of $PAC should be shown. If it does not, go to Tools > Wallet Repair > Rebuild Index to re-download the blockchain and make sure your wallet is on the correct chain.
