Can. The Government had the authority in taking decisions everything problem in her country. Government decisions are absolute and not bother to sue by anyone.

Your statement itself makes sense. There are some governments of different countries killed the Bitcoin or in other words, the bitcoin is banned in some countries.

The latest news is that the US government is look closely at Bitcoin. A number of governments such as Russia and China are also planning to issue their own digital currencies. They clearly see a financial threat from Bitcoin.

What do you think? Can governments kill Bitcoin and replace it with their own digital/crypto currency?
Bitcoin and most other crypto currency works using Peer to peer protocol just like how torrents work. Every user has its data and shares it through out the world. No one controls it and is totally decentralized. Even though the government is trying hard to stop piracy by taking down torrent sites, do you think they are being successful? They take it down, and then the site goes back up again in few days. Now compare and think about bitcoin in the same way as torrents.

I think its right, but for me it is possible that they could kill bitcoin. Investors of bitcoin should always open their minds that one of the risk in investing bitcoin is the possibility that there will be an alternative crypto currency that would take the place of bitcoin and make bitcoin an obsolete one. However, we sholud always believe that whatever happens bitcoin should always be the number one crypto currency.

In no way,the governments could replace bitcoin with their own crypto currencies as the investors would not be willing to support such centralised coins which would never increase in price like bitcoin and which would not allow anyone to stay anonymous.Governments could only regulate bitcoin and all the world countries have started to realise it.

Bitcoin is decentralized, even the government can't handle its volatility. But the government decides whether transactions with bitcoin is allowed in their country or not. Government can make digital crypto currency whenever they like, the crypto currency they made could be a big hit in the market or not. But regardless of its demand, the government still can't kill bitcoin.

The government cannot kill BTC per se. It can only control the usage of internet and access to BTC trading and anything related to it. Take other countries as an example, they moderate or ban any BTC transactions, but they cannot stop or kill BTC.
Yes I agree that government can't kill bitcoin because first and foremost government has no control over bitcoin and that's why some of the countries are banning bitcoin because of its as known as decentralised which only mean that they can't take any control on it. Government can only banned bitcoin but they can't kill or stop it.

Actually I think government can't kill bitcoin because there are so many popular person that are involved here. I think everyone who are working on bitcoin will not let someone who destroy, shutdown or kill it because this is our only hope or this is only way that we know how to earn a large amount of money.

It is not wrong to analyze Bitcoin as gold in digital form. Because to get it, you have to mine it first.
and if every country in the world bans bitcoin then bitcoin becomes illegal but will not die because bitcoin users will continue to wear it in any way.

Exactly.I think all they can do is just banning bitcoin and  discouraging people from using bitcoin due to some speculations but i guess it's all useless.Bitcoin cannot be controlled by any supervising agency in the government because of its being decentralized in nature. And the fact that it's giving jobs to all unemployed people will make it very hard for the government to compete with bitcoin or kill bitcoin.

Governments can only kill Bitcoin if they impose tough regulations and bans on it, otherwise on a fair market platform, even if the governments come up with their own cryptos, i dont think if they can match bitcoin or lead to its decline.

The government may limit the development of bitcoin, which the government cannot prevent.

It is not possible for all countries to ban bitcoin, as some countries have fully legalized it.

The latest news is that the US government is look closely at Bitcoin.

they are very tolerant to bitcoin, if they took hard measures like china did, probably the bitcoin price would be less than  $100, the US has great influence in the world, so I think many countries are not taking hard measures like china and Russia because they follow what the US does. Now it is clear that one must be very careful with Russia and China, people should not go to these countries if it is not a case of extreme urgency because in these two countries freedom of expression, human rights and freedom of the press are not respected, it is not only the bitcoin they want to destroy, but rather the democracy and the rights that their citizens have

A number of governments such as Russia and China are also planning to issue their own digital currencies. They clearly see a financial threat from Bitcoin.

What do you think?

Russia and China just want to have total control of their citizens to oppress them

Can governments kill Bitcoin and replace it with their own digital/crypto currency?

No, even if they did a lot of research, they would realize that bitcoin does not pose great dangers, so why ban bitcoin? fiat, gold, oil, diamonds, uranium and so much natural resources and other things are used to hurt other people, it does not make much sense to say "let's ban bitcoin because it's used to commit on crimes" this sounds like a joke

Yes government can kill bitcoin in the way how they want to do it for example if there no more people who are appreciating bitcoin they can kill it easily

How do you say so? Take a look now, bitcoin is continue growing and being more popular to the people and I've read on this forum that government want to have a tax of bitcoin. I was very disappointed when I have read that statement. In fact there is no more people could control bitcoin because it is an online system, decentralized. There's a lot of people focusing to do bitcoin as their job because they know that someday they will become rich.

I don't think so. No one owns the blockchain, and that is where the heart of bitcoins is located. Without the blockchain, bitcoins and other cryptocurrencies are dead as well. So we might want to protect the blockchain for whoever controls the blockchain has complete control over cryptocurrency.

They can, if there will be a global ban on bitcoin where nobody can sell or buy bitcoins. Because bitcoins value depends on the demand. But I think that would be impossible due the fact that some countries are already using bitcoins in their transactions and feels satisfied with it.

It is indeed a threat. In the a country'view, some transactions need to be tracked, for people 's safety purposes. For example, imagine that an assasination happened. The government caught the hitman and the money he got from the opetation. They want to track it. If it is in bitcoin, they can't. In that case , they will just prohibit it ,or they will just replace it with a new cryptocurrency that can be tracked. Which is different from bitcoin.
That is why i dont think that bitcoin will never lose its popularity facing these kind of problems
