Why do people buy high and sell low

Because of the fear of losing more than what they already lost.
Other than that I don't really see other reason to do it.

For me, because they panic selling. Believing in bitcoin is not enough that it could be raise in a few months or year.  They don't trust the history of bitcoin instead they sell in low price.

People buy in high price then sell in low and don't have profit it is because they don't have sufficient knowledge about in market management they don't even know how it works. I suggest that if you'll buy in high price don't sell it immediately just wait until to huge price and huge profit.

maybe you are one example of people who easily panic. we know if the price of bitcoin or altcoin is very easy with up and down. why do people buy high prices and sell at low prices ? because they panic prices will come down again. they don't think prices will rise again and may be higher than the price you bought. it's just a panic, not out of desire. if the price goes down again, don't panic, do not sell your coins. calm down, keep your coins and sell when prices rise again.

Maybe it is all because of lack of knowledge and  they weren't updated what is the current status of cryptos in the market.
Or maybe they sell low because they are afraid that the crypto they are holding will lose its value.

Yes! These are the most common reasons why people fall prey to this. We need to understand that crypto market is not a casino where you are totally relying on your luck. Here you need to work hard by reading articles, news and all that jazz in order to understand market in the best possible way. Sometime the holding of coins is just like watching a grass growing but patience pays you off.

Most people surely sold at a lower price because they were panicking during a downswing phase. Another reason is if people bought bitcoin as saving and maybe semi speculating to have sufficient money when they are old and can not work anymore, because we all know that the inflation eats the value of our hard earned money during the years. And then they suddenly needed money for something important like buying a house or marriage and were forced to sell during a downswing phase.

People sell even the price is less when they bought it in the market hoping that when the price continuous my fall after selling, can able to buy in much lower price which can make to return what they lost in the first investment. When you analyze the market and see that it will be long for the price to recover, better to give action, think smart strategy, not all who sell in low price lose profit. They also earn a profit doing that and it helps to be able to hold more coins.

i think you better move your funds into paper wallet if you want to try holding  . that may help you control you panic sell

The only reason people buy high and sell low is depend on market condition, Most of the people don't have control on their emotions and mostly newbies survive in any type of market weather it is stock, forex or crypto, Because they are not too much familiar with market.
