Will Electroneum also change their Algo? Seems like theres 6 coins that are currently more profitable to mine based on https://minecryptonight.net/

I have 2 purcahsed I can USD wire for tmmrw for but am hella nervous lol

Listen to me right now.. You're about to throw away a huge sum of money to feed Chinese scammers. DO NOT BUY THESE!!!!

No coin besides Monero could absorb the power of these ASICs. They're as good as dead if they don't switch. They just need Monero to do it first since most devs are too dumb.

You've been warned.

Wonder why they called it X3 why not M3 since it's used to mine Monero just like the D3 and L3.

batch one is sold out! I sold 4x A3s for 6K when they first dropped and kept one and got my ROI, so idk might be a good investment to flip at least if not mine other coins then XMR?

It's interesting how some news of hard forking coins to prevent ASICs from mining brings out all of the secret ASICs on the market.

You must be a fool to buy an ASIC right now, they milked all the coins while they could and now they're trying to make a profit by reselling them too.

I wonder how log they have been using them before putting them on the market? What kind of profits did they pull from mining?

I wonder why they weren't selling any of their stuff to the community if Bitmain was such a nice guy. They want to hack and own any crypto network out there.

If you ask them they'll tell you that they are the biggest fans of decentralization.  Grin

war

asic vs gpu

just remember asic = shit service when gear breaks.
gpu = real warranties when gear breaks.

+1 on this right here.

For those of you reading, look at what spending 12k on GPU rigs would net you profit wise versus what this will produce once they hit the market. If you don't know, go look up what happened when the Dash miners started to really hit the markets.

For those considering buying the X3 at 12k or 7.5k... Check out this page below and look at what some of the more expensive Dash Asic miners cost, then go find the posts here from when those miners were announced and look at what people said estimated profits would be and take note of that date. At the time of release, some of the Dash Asics were projected to make "thousands" per month. With that information, then go take the values from those same miners into any hashrate X11 calculator today and see what they really produce, compare the dates and you'll have an understanding of how bad an investment these X3's are going to be.

List of Dash Asic's

Who will you flip it to? Nobody will want a miner that can't mine.

I was curious about this as well since everyone seems focused on Monero only here, but with so many CN coins available for mining at $150+/day return, what’s the fuss if Monero does fork? Is everyone concerned ALL of the other CN algos will as well? That doesn’t seem logical to me. And with so many available coins to spread the ASICs across, it seems possible the profits won’t diminish as much as anticipated, especially if these machines truly have been used on the network by Bitmain already like people believe. So will this guy stand to get his $12k back in 2.6 months?

everybody who buys this is just financing their next batch for cryptonight v7

if monero doesnt change algo every month cryptonight is dead for gpu mining

Yeah I wonder how quickly the GPU mining software developers will be able to update their miners to support revised algos.

It could become a cluster fuck and really hurt the community because you'll have people trying to mine everywhere with GPU's that are running old versions of the mining software which is one of the reasons why I suspect someone will fork XMR if they revise the algo with their own core fork.

Wouldn't surprise me to see bitmain pull another bcash. "Monero Cash.." LOL. It'll be futile, though.

Yup, this wouldn't surprise me either.

Claymore has already indicated that he's working on updating his miner for V7. If miners can't be arsed to keep up with updated mining software, fuck 'em.

https://getmonero.org/2018/02/11/PoW-change-and-key-reuse.html which mentions a few other miners (xmr-stak comes immediately to mind).

I would not be shocked to see a "stick with the original algo" Monero fork to "MoneroCash" myself - but I gotta wonder if even Bitmain can make THAT brick fly.
Hopefully not.

Once Monero and Electronium shifts algo (yes, there HAS been an announcement that ETN is going to change algo), these miners are going to totally KILL any chance at profitability on any other CN coin - nothing else can soak the hashrate or even CLOSE.
It's going to be a TON worse than X11 or SIA - even if the miners were going to sell for $1000 there is almost zero chance anyone would make back their investment.
Less than 100 Mhash total network hashrate for all of the other CN coins COMBINED - and Bitmain seems to love selling batches of 3000 or so new miners at a time, which works out to 660 Mhash of NEW hashrate NOT counting Baikal's contribution.
Can you say "watch the profits collapse FAST"?
Even Ethereum would have a problem soaking THAT much new hashrate (to be fair, it may have already soaked part of it from Bitmain doing undercover mining with the machines before they announced them).

Bitmain does not appear to have thought out THIS move ESPECIALLY THE INSANELY HIGH PRICING, and it's iffy if Baikal did so.

All of which are little known with VERY small network hashrates.

Simple answer, once you use an X3 on another chain it will cause a difficulty spike, sure you might make a ton of coins for a few days but if that coins value doesn't increase once the chains difficulty adjusts, you'll be back to square one, making little profits but there is a "chance" you could cover you miners costs in a few days/weeks.

But the question is, do you think you're the only one out there with this idea? Do you have your eye on some cryptonight alt coin that you think no one is paying attention to? If you do and you're right, you may make some serious coin and profit. However, if you're wrong and dozens or hundreds of others have the same idea as you and they get their miner before you or you all turn on your miners on at the same time, you'll make profits for days at best then be stuck with 5-7k or more to break even by the time difficulty adjusts.

Bottom line is that you could make money from an X3 Batch 1 or 2 if you are lucky but it's more probable that you will lose money.

Prior of decision to buy, try to read just a few last pages of Bitmain D3 discussion thread. Those Cryptonight ASICs after the fork will be only luxuries doorstops. That is the business model of Bitmain.

Holly fuck! 220KH/s at 550W! That's really answering the skyrocketed diff in the recent months.

This garbage will be dead on arrival. Dont buy this!
Most the CN based algo will be switch to V7 (on about 2 weeks or so). Lets give XMR dev do the job first, then the rest CN based coin will just pull, merge and push the code.

This Bitmain and Baikal guys really mean to us. Cannot just believe they thinks that we are so dumb!  Grin
This garbage just sitting in their farm for at least 4 months. When the news about V7 is coming, then they just cleaning it up, make it shiny and dump it to those greed and dumb out there. Lets be logical, do you believe that Bitmain and Baikal will open this mining bastard to the public while they can still make a BIG profit and keep it under their wrap?

This is a stupid release...obviously a fight to knock out the comp. wouldn’t touch it with a 10 foot stick

Also - ASIC manufacturing needs shorter lead times. Two months plus shipping is WAYYYY too long to be paying upfront. They need to ship these within 7-10 days.

They will be "in stock" again throughout the day at multiple times, see OP -- best of luck if you take the plunge. I wouldn't even if I had the spare cashflow to do it.

Wonder why they called it X3 why not M3 since it's used to mine Monero just like the D3 and L3.

My bet is they didn't call it the M3 because Monero was the first coin to announce they would hard fork away from the Baikal miner. It happened so fast to Baikal that they had to remove XMR as one of the mineable coins from their website listing.

This X3 is going to be for all the coins that don't fork away or for those that refuse to fork away, enabling these Asic's to have long term purpose.

Maybe because Monero's symbol is XMR?

$12k is totally insane though.  It seems they're more in collusion with Baikal on the price though rather than trying to crush them like they usually do.
