Since celebrities are well-known in their country and seeing them joining the hype in cryptocurrencies, it will be easier for them to attract investors to help in the success of their own cryptocurrency. I'm sure that they are not just jumping blindly in the world of crypto and just doing anything without prior research. They are backed-up by their own legal advisor/counsel so that they will know what necessary strategies or move they must take in order to achieve their goals. Let's just see how their ICO will go and see their effects on the community.

Former Manchester United and Real Madrid striker Michael Owen is launching a cryptocurrency in his own name, joining other famous sportsmen including Manny Pacquiao in a new venture to connect with fans.

The retired England star announced Wednesday his investment in the Singapore-based Global Crypto Offering Exchange (GCOX) as he unveiled the “Owen Coin”.

Could this be a booster to cryptocurrency because these celebrities have big influence world wide and could invariably canvass more support for cryptocurrency.

I am not seeing anything different from what is currently happening. I will only be concerned if because of Owen Coin, China allows its ICO to be raised, Facebook makes an exception, Google reverse its decision to ban ads and finally the forum decides to give it some special consideration. Other than that, its going to face the same faith that the entire ICO market is facing but could be mild because of the name involved.

The question, is for those that have endorsed in the past, what is the status of such coins today? I hardly find them in the top 10 coins. Celebrities needs to change their strategies and endorse bitcoin itself and not some coins created and they are allotted maybe 1millon pre-mined that makes them super rich just by promoting it with their name.

Interestingly enough many are interested in the field of crypto. of course, this being a good thing because crypto is increasingly having much support including from the sport. with like this certainly, make crypto increasingly have high value and does not cover the possibility again that Crypto will be more shine in the future.

A lot of celebreties are starting to endorse aand even start their own project because they see cryptocurrency as a good business to start. It is good because this people are very influential, and they can influence a lot of people to invest and learn about crypto.

With so many celebrities supporting cryptocurrency, this will increase investor confidence and interest. Because with the participation of this celebrity the motivation and demand will be many. Crypto price will rise.

They are starting to endorse a new form if cryptocurrency and that's in no way beneficial for anyone is what I think.

There are already so many present in the society and not enough people to invest.. it would literally decrease the platform! That could increase in value.

With so much competition and so many participants it would diverge the strength and idk if that's good

Smiley  Smiley      a show always has a great way to promote or introducing things for masses we hope that here will be the start of embracing crypto from people known and here to spread also for their co worker ,many famous venture people are in the crypto of many fans to follow them and get involved with many with the media but the investors would be a win to win  the situation where people would gain a lot of interest and the market cap would increases .

Owen isn't exactly a big name and he probably needs the money, when we have celebrities with big fame and wealth endorsing cryptocurrencies instead of making their own that will be a big difference. I believe that Messi has endorsed Sirin Labs, guys like him and especially Ronaldo are the big ones in football/soccer. It would be nice if one of them would endorse bitcoin but that will never happen because they won't be getting paid for it.
Who knows that these big celebrities wil be using bitcoin in the future if these guys  will be using bitcoin  surely will influence our young generation because they are the recipient of the development of cryptocurrency. young generation should be informed  a head because monetary system will be in form of crypto currency in the future.

It's possible but if they were to be using it it would be because it's widespread, they'll never promote it through advertisements however unless some charitable person decided to pay them to do it for bitcoin's benefit. Time is money for these guys.

I think more people will pay attention and will be more interested in bitcoin because they will surely believe in the capability of bitcoin to rise since celebrities are endorsing and investing it. They wouldn't put their names into trouble if bitcoin don't worth our trust. It is a good thing that even politicians support bitcoin as well.

Owen’s decision will influence the crypto investors in a great manner. It increases the possibility that many celebrities will join in this platform which will encourage people who still do not know or interested about cryptocurrency

It's a good news indeed, we need this type of news as this is some sort of motivation especially now that the market is bloody red. I believe prior to this there have been other celebrities that endorsed bitcoin. Some of them are:
1. 50 Cent (Rapper)
2. Nas
3. Richard Branson (Virgin Group founder)
4. Ashton Kutcher
5. Katy Perry
6. Floyd Mayweather
7. DJ Khaled
8. Mike Tyson
9. Jamie Foxx

You are totally missing the point. These celebrities are creating their own Alt coin and this is not helping Bitcoin when people

are not investing their money into Bitcoin, but rather into these CelebCoins. This will fracture the Bitcoin user base and also

decrease Bitcoin adoption. I think this is a bad idea and a FAD that will blow over in no time.  Angry
I'll one up you and say it is the stupidest idea that these celebrities could think of. They could make money in loads of ways but they are just literally using their name to get riches, makes me sick. Take Pablo Escobar brother for example, do you think Diet Bitcoin stands any chance of being real? I highly doubt it, and if I had to guess I would say it may be used to launder money. Same can't be said for the rest of the stars, but still down right disgusting behavior if you ask me.

Definitely, most people are blinded by the popularity of the endorser.  If someone who is well known endorsed a token or a coin even though there is really no actual use of it, it will have a booster.  Reminds me of some ICO that uses Floyd Mayweather as their endorser and that ICO was sold out easily.

Yes, you are absolutely right. Today Owen is getting involved in cryptocurrency. And we will also hear about other celebrities who will engage in this industry. They are realizing its value. Like them, other will also follow the trend.

it's not just the show business stars and many public people who are beginning to deal with crypto-currency, but also real information about conversations on the topic of crypto-currency at the G-20 summit. This is already a huge signal for a positive outlook for the future of crypto currency.

Since it is practically possible for anyone to create their own token or coin there is nothing wrong in Owen coming up with his own coin to connect with his fans and it might be the next trend for some time until everyone start doing it and this is the main reason i hate the free flow of new tokens all the time and the possibility of anyone to raise money without any hindrance is a double edged sword as scammers are taking advantage of this market .

A lot of celebrities just want to make a hype on this.
They want more popularity, more articles in magazines etc.

You are spot on with your observation. These celebrities just want to be news and they will do anything to achieve this. The easiest and cheapest option is to get associated with something that is in news. That is why they are making use of the bitcoin hype and trying to get in news because of bitcoins. It will however help in pushing the prices of bitcoins especially if the celebrity has a good fan following.

Isn't pump and dump the case for quite a large number of icos and alt-coins? Tongue With so many people creating their own coin, we just might as well make like an app where you'd be collecting alt-coins and trade duplicates with other people. Grin

But seriously, I'm interested to see how all that will turn out for those pop stars, since they have the audience of 12-16yr old girls, completely missing the demographic.

Need some spare btc for a new PC that can at least run Adobe Dreamweaver.
