We have been under DDOS attack for the past ~4 hours. They seem to be giving up since it doesn't seem to be having any impact (we have a load-distributed setup with 14 servers in multiple continents). The problem is that nowadays it is really cheap to start DDOS attacks due to availability of many "stress testing" services so they have become a lot more frequent. We had one attack many months ago which made the website slow for  a few hours after which I migrated to a much more resilient setup which is very difficult to take down.
