I suggest you check the ICO rating, you will find that the idea is clearer and can help you avoid unnecessary scams.

There are many good and legit ICOs out there. Check the EON ICO in my signature. It has an excellent team with great credentials and a big community following. Check this reddit page for more details:

Most of them are either legit, fishy/unprofessional or straight out scam, just saw some articles that complain ICO now has at least 40% fail rate that resulted from the current market and you should expect landscape with higher risk or losing more than you can earn these days

Spotcoin will be announcing the date for their ICO soon. They had their Pre-ICO last month and the sale was closed early due to Spot limit being reached.
Spotcoin believes in supporting the entire NEO ecosystem and has been very active in the community. Most recently they were instrumental in establishing the official NEO Black Sea community.
Read more about this great achievement https://medium.com/spotcoin/neo-black-sea-community-launched-ff0d479d3bad
https://neonewstoday.com/general/spotcoin-helps-launch-neo-black-sea-community/
https://medium.com/spotcoin/spotcoins-place-in-the-neo-universe-9c6688696c23
Spotcoin is an #NEP5 project within the #NEO ecosystem. Through their #ICO they will enhance their OTC, founded in November 2016, they will also add a digital fiat/crypto exchange, a mining facility, Spotpay and the Black Sea Blockchain Institute offering accredited courses to those interested in Blockchain Tech. Holders of #SPOT will earn dividends of 51% weekly (from echange fees), and 12% quarterly (from their other business lines).
Digital Asset Exchange
Spotcoin is working on an automated digital asset exchange that will be available globally, offering global and regional fiat trading pairs with four core digital currencies: Gas, BTC, ETH and SIB. Spotcoin will list, free of charge, all NEP-5 tokens that adhere to the City of Zion’s “Guideline for Responsible token Sales.” Launch is planned for Q3 2019
Spotpay
Spotpay is an innovative payment system that will provide a secure payment widget, an API and an APP based digital wallet, Spotpay will also be available for those with physical store fronts. This will provide consumers with fast, low cost and secure point of sale transactions. Spotpay will integrate with Spotcore to provide instantaneous payouts to merchants in their desired currency at current market price. Spotpay launch is scheduled for Q2 2020
The following article provides more info https://medium.com/spotcoin/the-face-and-the-heart-of-spotcoin-our-digital-exchange-and-spotcore-3d686ac1b23f
Mining Operations
Having a formal partnership with Georgian Mining Company, Spotcoin just broke ground on an environmentally friendly $3.25M, 1.1MW mining facility, utilizing hydroelectric power it is scalable to 25MW. The new facility will house 2,250 GPU miners and will additionally be able to host 9000 additional units on behalf of clients. Spotcoin chose Georgia for their mining facility, due to the low-cost, environmentally friendly hydropower they offer, as well as, a Value-added Tax (VAT) exemption. Georgia generates more than 75% of its electricity from hydropower, making it the second most popular country for mining. The facility is expected to be fully operational by Q4 2018. Spotcoin discusses their mining operations further in this medium article https://medium.com/spotcoin/spotcoin-close-up-our-mining-operations-3e32a388709d
Black Sea Blockchain Institute
Spotcoin has recognized the lack of educational options when it comes to blockchain technology, in their words, “There is a demand crisis for experts in blockchain technology”. With the growing popularity of blockchain technology in the Black Sea region, it is the prime area to provide training to those interested in making a career in this field. That is why Spotcoin is establishing the Black Sea Blockchain Institiue (BSBI), which will be a registered vocational/technical college, officially recognized by the Georgian Ministry of Education and Science as well as the Council of Higher Education Accredidation. BSBI will offer accredited courses and certificate programs for Students, Developers, Executive Management and Government officials. Formal courses and training programs are set to begin in the fall of 2018.

Now it's really hard to find legit ICOs, I think you can do a depth study of project, team, project background, and so on. And don't trust 100% against the ICO Rating site because now many of project are paying for the rating.

At this time it will be complicated for you, fellow, to find good ICO. Even people with vast experience can mistake and choose a scam campaign. You have to look carefully at its team, product, hyip above the project, community size, etc. One of the projects which approach to those criterions is EOT (Entertainment Open Network Protocol) - a protocol for decentralised games.

I can tell you that there is no legal ICO. Why are there so many false ICOs now because there is no effective legal department to supervise this industry! Even if it is a good ICO, it may fail, so the method is not important. It is important to avoid touching it!

Its very hard these days to find potential ICO's with proper idea, planning and a real team. Most of them are just created to get money and run away. I guess a detailed investigation before investment is really needed.

Yes there's a lot ICO today, and most of them are only scam.
And as an investor you must do your job to avoid scam ICO.
Research more about the project , research about their team, do they have working prototype, are the team working hard for their project. You must do all the research if you are interested of that project.

In my opinion, all ICO projects are legitimate. The question is to what extent they are made with the specific purpose of the project or just to collect some money.
And finding this right way to choose the right project is really hard in my view and it is very difficult to determine. And it depends on many factors.

Better to conduct research on your own . There are still some ICO's out there that is too good to be true and you might want to invest to it . I pick the ICO according on the purpose of it . If it can help me in the future and I like the project then I invest to it.

ICO still flourishing despite the fact people use it to steal away millions from investors pocket. The good thing about a project is the team,  Without a Solid Team, it's hard to predict the projects future. behind each successful company stands a flexible team that can efficiently turn a vision into a growing business.

because now it's a lot of scam ico I guess it's hard to determine which ico is good or not, and although ico it looks good and its sales too much and even softcap is possible also for the ico become a scam. and before participating in an ico should read whitepaper first because whitepaper is important because there is information about ico inside the whitepaper

What is the basic thing in order to avoid scam - it is to study and learn about the ICO. Definitely, there are many ICOs that introduced themselves as having a futuristic view and contribution to the community; with that though, some investors do not see this an opportunity and end up with nothing - so it is up to the ICO to stop (due to no funding). Why? Some ICOs have the better view; however, it is unrealistic - so that`s when people back out. Thus, we need to evaluate the potential of the ICO as well as its overall contribution to the community.

Their are ICO still legit and that's the very risky part if you invest on ICOs, a lot of research and talk must be do first if you invest and if not you better invest on existing altcoins to avoid that risk, but a successful investor is also a risk taker.

ICOs are popping up daily but most of them dont achieve what they planned to achieve due to understandable circumstances and also, there are also ICOs that are out to run away with investor's money.

But amidst these Categories, there are legitimate ICOs that have a peculiar project, a working product, an experienced team and a good use case for its token.
This should be what you should look out for. Peace Wink

Start with the campaign manager. Campaign managers are very picky with the ones they market and of course, there is a agreement of payment before a developer ever hires a good campaign manager. TLDR; Good Campaign Manager = Legitimate ICO.

Honestly I want say no one can gurranty you whice ICO logic or scam. You should invest what you can afford loss. But there some symptom that we mark it can be scam. Actually scam totally depend on mind of owner. But at least we should research minimum before invest on ICO. Like website design, team , whitepaper, roadmap , total supply etc . You should read whitepaper carefully. ICO mostly depend on whitepaper and what they are promise. Avoid if there is too much promise.
