@TheQuin, I would like to know if this is a scam or not regards, I got the email exactly from you guys. The email is exactly the same, I just want to verifiy this, if it is a scam or not. Thanks before From:Freebitco.in < noreply@freebitco.in> Congratulations We would like to inform you of our dear business. You won the silver prize in our annual competition. And you win one BTC. Now we want to deposit the prize into our account. But there is a problem currently preventing filing Your account balance must be equal to 20% of the value of the prize If there is no minimum balance in the account please send the remaining value to the following address before 11 pm GMTFrom Monday, 20 May 2019 the address is 3PviFE1rGwc2nXCirnPPboD1rHPVLZv9P1 We would like to inform you that if this value is not sent to this address, the prize will be withheld from you and given to another competitor FreeBitco.in, 3rd Floor, J and C Building, PO Box 933, Road Town, Tortola, British Virgin Islands I do not know if my email is being hacked or what but somehow they know that I am playing this lottery all the time. Just want to reconfirm again this I don't think you have to worry, this is a pure phishing attempt. Don't look at the mail address in the message, it can be added in the text or modified to show as the scammer wants you to see and is even possible that the L in "noreply" is an uperrcase i (it depends on fonts, this forum uses a proper font that shows a different i/I) so neither checking the real sender mail address can be a solution to demonstrate that is a fake address (but you can try it simply pointing mouse cursor or clicking on the sender, not in the mail message, just on the name displayed as a sender). Anyway, the most probably thing that happened to you is this: you used the same freebtc account mail on other sites, probably a scam site or more than one. In the best scenario you used DIFFERENT PASSWORDS to create/join accounts (both on freebtc and the scam site/sites) and in this case the owner of the scam site can only knows that you have used a mail to get access on some other sites, but he/she doesn't know your password. In the worst scenario you have used SAME PASSWORDS so for the scammer now is possible to ge access to all sites you have used that password. Best thing to do is to change passwords on legit sites and activate 2fa if possible. ps. if someone ask to make a deposit in order to be elegible to obtain a prize 99.99% is a scam anyway. pps. that btc address is empty and never used (no transaction in or out, never). It is considered as a hacking item because you are being asked to send coin in a certain wallet. If you win something youll see it on your account no need for confirmation or whatsoever. This attempt eill not work on me i am receiving this kind of email also they be able to successfully out smart you if you believe on those kind of tricks.

BTCevo, it's classic and very obvious scam attempt, very similar to these "Nigerian Prince" scams schemes. First of all, as I know Freebitco.in didn't held any annual competition with silver prizes. Secondly, if you win something on Freebitco.in, you're not asked to deposit money to claim prize. Third, they wouldn't give deposit address through email - your deposit address is only visible on your Freebitco.in account. And finally, I doubt that Freebitco.in would send email with such mistakes like "Now we want to deposit the prize into our account"

Does this site still have its original owners back from 2013 or domain was sold? This was like probably one of the most popular domains for bitcoin newbies to earn their first satoshis Amaizing that its still active to this date. A lot changed but still active.

Is there any mention of the alleged competition on the site or have I announced it here? It isn't that you have been hacked but rather the scammers have probably purchased a list of email addresses associated with Bitcoin on the dark web and are phishing them.

^^ Kinda amazing that, BTC has been to the moon and back and then left the galaxy in terms of growth since the early days so its admirable to have lasted as long. My old BTC pool owner completely dissolved his site and still redirects the domain away to Bitcoin.org when he came to move on because of that possibility for misuse that exists so its worth checking for sure We wouldn't send an email with such bad grammar. Simple advice but totally what I would agree with. One forum I used to post on daily would ban or suspend people for bad spelling, their reasoning being it disabled various translators and screen readers from operating. A proper site doesn't operate with mistakes popping up like that or at least they are corrected not left like a rake in the grass. The recent pop up scam site on another thread didn't comply with various details that it should have, small details but it was a glaring reason in how to tell it wasn't real. The little mistakes are the best guide in knowing how to tell the good from the bad in a few seconds usually, its probably best to be unforgiving with any worth. I also recommend not readily using the same email address everywhere, keep some as more disposable less trusted for the random forms that ask on sites you dont know.

However for next time do remember that any such mail that asks you to pay up before releasing funds is a scam mail, and no you’re not getting hacked they send automated mass mails like this one to all. As you’re yet getting these mails constantly I feel you should reset your password, and use 2fa on the site for added security.

Thanks for the great explanation, hope everyone do not fall on this kind of phising attempt

Freebitco.in was my second faucet ever (the first was Moonbitcoin or something like that).. they used to be really nice, I even won that faucet jackpot once. I never really stopped using it, I still log from time to time and I was even giving a look at their investors option now, which sounds really low interest to me but still better than nothing as I normally hold my coins as balance in the casinos sites I use to play or even in exchanges, which doesn't generate any kind of interest lol

Correct me if I'm wrong. Is this right? Freebitco.in has sportsbetting now? I just got a mail from them I was like 1 year getting faucet from this site.
Yes, they have betting not only sportbetting, this is started like 1 month ago. You can also bets on events like, bitcoin price prediction, game of thrones, Usa elections and more soon I guess. Wow, it's nice to see that this site is improving. It has a good reputation and now it's improving and will conduct now a new business scheme. I think that it is time for me to go back at this site. Don't expect too much since they are still improving everything and there are less matches or event that we can bet on. But this is a good step that theytake to ensure their customers have something new aside from the multiplyHiLO Yeah, the reason of me being shocked in this is because why is it they are just settling it down with HiLo? Although yes, it's free site, let's give it to them but it'll be so much good if they will let themselves create a new set of games. But the question is why is it only now they did this? They existed when? Many years ago right? But I don't care, I'll see myself get back at this site again LOL.

**SPOILER ALERT No one really expects that bran will take over the iron throne. i placed my bet on tyrion lannister but he just landed as a right hand once again.. How much you bet on Bran? Congratulation anyway on winning, 0.04 BTC can come a long way on freebitco.in Hi/Lo Games

I still can't believe that Bran won, I mean it was the last person I could ever thought about, I would say even Cersei would have made much more sense.
Not because Bran the Broken would be a bad king, he will probably be a more of a hands off king that sees whats going on all the time and fixes things without getting the recognition or acknowledgement of his success as a ruler since he will do it secretly thanks to his talents, however the reason why I believed he wouldn't be is that he always said he doesn't want to rule even in the north, he declined the offer to be the king in the north and rule there and said he doesn't want to be a king, yet when he came he was all like "wHy yOu ThInK I cAmE aLl ThIs wAy" , WELL BECAUSE SOMEONE PUSHED YOU HERE? I would say Tyrion will be more like a king to the public then Bran and he will rule the world and have more influence over the world then Bran for sure.

dam it in retrospect that was the perfect target vs long odds. The way the character is coming back from being wiped out and ignored as a power player by almost anyone in the series is the perfect storyline and then combined with how the dude is sitting there trying to look all wise and mysterious. Kinda obvious pick I should have made, kudos for the clear vision on that one. Perfect twist and should have known it'd be something like that I wish I bet more similarly I always go short on my perfect bets, I know how you feel on that one

Never even thought that Bran Stark would take it, but it shows you that it is always a good idea to put something small into the options with the lower odds. In any way, it is nice that Freebitco.in is targeting popular events that are not linked to Sports betting, I would just like to see more eSport being supported by them. <Gaming has a huge audience and I think it is the perfect target market for technologically inclined people like us.>

Just want to reconfirm again this As the others have already said that is an obvious phishing attempt. It is easy to fake the sender's address on an email. Anything that asks you to make a payment to claim your prize is a 419 advanced fee scam. We wouldn't send an email with such bad grammar. Is that BTC address your freebitco.in deposit address? Is there any mention of the alleged competition on the site or have I announced it here? It isn't that you have been hacked but rather the scammers have probably purchased a list of email addresses associated with Bitcoin on the dark web and are phishing them. How is it so easy to fake an email address? I mean honestly that email contents are clearly yelling scam but I would have probably thought freebitcoin sent it to me nevertheless when I saw the email address. I have learnt a new thing today that faking an email address is quite easy, I would have never known. People are really improving the scamming quality lately, they have been really working hard to make everything look as real as possible, even on twitter where someone asks for money like he is Elon musk was a very known scam for a short while but I remember dude making over 20 thousand dollars there too. Thankfully I have never been on the bad end of a scam attempt, not that I never fell for a scam attempt, there was literally no scam attempt specific to me (didn't fall for tweets like that or anything but that wasn't directed to me).
