Saw this study on twitter... https://twitter.com/Zeex_me/status/978981735101878272

I've seen a lot of people asking about how many legit ICOs there are, so I thought I'd share

Quote from the article: "The study begins by breaking down ICOs into 6 groups: Scam, Failed, Gone Dead, Dwindling, Promising, Successful. “On the basis of the above classification,” they wrote, “we found that approximately 81% of ICO’s were Scams, ~6% Failed, ~5% had Gone Dead, and ~8% went on to trade on a exchange.”

"Scams were defined by researchers as “Any project that expressed availability of [an] ICO investment (through a website publishing, ANN thread, or social media posting with a contribution address), did not have/had no intention of fulfilling project development duties with the funds, and/or was deemed by the community (message boards, website or other online information) to be a scam.”

DYOR people ...
I have experienced an ICO failed, not a scam but failed, I think most ICOs fail because they don't meet the target so we don't get paid.

If you do your research thoroughly, you don't have much risk of getting scammed.I've been involved in quite a few ICO's and bounties and I've only encountered one scam in an airdrop/ICO.

I hope in the future there will be more successful ICO.  Now there are many ICO scams and therefore it is better not to invest all the money in the ICO.

ETH is currently under strict control of the token on the platform. This gives rise to many DEV teams that easily create projects without much cost. So many fraudsters took advantage and appropriated the money of investors.

Now the scam of projects is about 20-30%.  But now a lot of not successful projects that have not reached the soft cap.

Legit projects usually surpass their softcap amount.

Most of them are just community hypes specially if the ICO in twitter they just pop out in nowhere and also on ICO review sites there are many paid reviewers thats why ICO are full of scams because of them

Not the 80% are scams. I guess that only 2-3% of the total number of ICO projects are really scam, the other simply have the negative ROI, so their investors thinks that this projects are fraudulent.

No, ICO scams are much more than 2-3%.  Now about 10-15% of the ICO scum.  But there are very few good, promising ICOs.

lately many issues about ico scam. yes, indeed lately I have been very long. ico period ended long enough. and the longest is the process of distributing tokens and launching tokens on the market. maybe that makes everyone think that ico is a scam because it's too long to wait. but for me, it's still 7% that ico is a scam.

When investing, there is always the risk of remaining without the money that you invested in the project, but it will be really hard for scammers to hide with money, because they may be behind bars.

Currently there are many not successful ico, as their sales results did not reach softcap. When the market falls I do not recommend participating in the ICO.
Good suggestion. I also stopped participating in ICOs in this decline. The market for ICOs raised $12 bln this year but there are 800 dead coins.

Now the situation with the ICO is bad.  Now very few successful ICO and very often then the price of these coins is very low.

So far, even it did not work out. Since there is a need for funds to participate, which I am now trying to gain by participating in a subscription campaign. But they say a lot about skamprojects.

I advise you to be cautious and first to study all the information about the developers and the project and only then to invest.

If there was so much high percentage of scams in the ICO , people would have just stopped participating .

Unfortunately, as long as we do not take precautions, this rate will exceed 90 percent. People unfortunately just caught up with the idea of making a project so that it might be heard. So many people actually give labor for it, but unfortunately, nothing goes to their hands.

I have not invested in ICO for 4-5 months because the risk is very high and the profit is very small.

I can only hope and say it will not happen and experience many people. not all ICOs are fraudulent, I don't think so for now. even though the situation is rather unhealthy. I tried to state something positive. and I will always participate in participating in finding information about the real ICO.
thanks.
