Scams were defined by researchers as “Any project that expressed availability of [an] ICO investment (through a website publishing, ANN thread, or social media posting with a contribution address), did not have/had no intention of fulfilling project development duties with the funds, and/or was deemed by the community (message boards, website or other online information) to be a scam.

Now a lot of projects that do not reach the soft cap. Or very often the price of a coin on the market is much lower than the price of an ICO.

I do not want to speculate by mentioning that 80% of ico is a scam, because there are some altcoin projects that are also promising and have good fundamentals

Very large statistics, which is actually correct, but of course it's about 80% that's a lot. Most likely the percentage is much less than 80%. Approximately 40% of the projects really remain out of sight.

We must review and research our prospective ICO because many are scams but to be honest many are also are sincere. The concept of their project is promising and it just really need the support of a user and community.

It seems to me that at the moment the percentage of scams is much higher because almost every project is scammed. Many can not even add their coins to the exchange at all

Support. There can't be so many scams. Many projects lay low, waiting for favorable conditions, others have a delay in development or integration, and therefore investors turn away. After all, everyone is interested only in profit, not progress.

Yes, and I see some promising projects not funded because people are afraid to invest and it's all because of all these scams in the past. That's sad.

I have been participating in bounty campaigns since January 2018. I can say that there is no profit yet. Tokens are paid to me, but they can be sold at a price of about 10% of the sale at the time of ISO. Can it be considered a scam?

The scam ICOs are even growing in numbers compared to the past years. Conducting an ICO is easier than traditional crowdfunding that's why it is a target of many scammers. I hope this will be regulated accordingly.

I do not agree that 80 percent of these are scammers, I think that less projects simply do not collect money because of the collapse of the market, closer to the autumn the situation will change. Do not despair, this moment must wait.
You are not right. During the fall of the market good projects collect the right amount and useless projects or scammers do not get money from investors.

ICO failing also has a variety of reasons, ranging from team performance, ICO creativity, and also the factor of the development of the price of crypto is not good.

I might feel there are 3 ICO scams out of 10 ICOs, maybe that is the comparison. well, we do not know what's going to happen, but I think we have to be careful to minimize the risk we have.

Saw this study on twitter... https://twitter.com/Zeex_me/status/978981735101878272I've seen a lot of people asking about how many legit ICOs there are, so I thought I'd share Quote from the article: "The study begins by breaking down ICOs into 6 groups: Scam, Failed, Gone Dead, Dwindling, Promising, Successful. “On the basis of the above classification,” they wrote, “we found that approximately 81% of ICO’s were Scams, ~6% Failed, ~5% had Gone Dead, and ~8% went on to trade on a exchange.” "Scams were defined by researchers as “Any project that expressed availability of [an] ICO investment (through a website publishing, ANN thread, or social media posting with a contribution address), did not have/had no intention of fulfilling project development duties with the funds, and/or was deemed by the community (message boards, website or other online information) to be a scam.” DYOR people ... i doubt that those fipugures are rigjt, i rhijk ot shouldbbe less than eithpghty per cent, for sure, that is too many

The percentage seems too big to me, the fact is that projects do not inform people about what they do and how they do, so many people get the impression that the project has disappeared.
