Thanks for sharing this, I didn`t saw it until now. Interesting odds, and to not speak about others I`m from Serbia and odds are 151, to low if you ask me. Who place a bet on Serbia to win world cup should have better odd`s.

Group A - Uruguay and Russia. Egypt is a little bit better then Russia at the moment, but FIFA usually lets the host country through.
Group B - Portugal and Spain. In case of a lousy performance by Portugal, Iran could get through, but that is a far stretch.
Group C - France and Peru
Group D - Croatia, Argentina. This is actually not very sure as both teams could perform badly, they experienced severe oscillations lately.
Group E - Brazil, Switzerland, except if Matic and company hold their grip and get past Switzerland.
Group F - Germany, .... number two could be Mexico, but I see S.Korea and Sweden with almost equal chances here.
Group G - Belgium, England
Group H - Colombia, Senegal (both Poland and Japan could be number 2).

Of the 3 candidates you mentioned, I doubt France. I personally doubt the quality of France has long even in the Euro yesterday as well. If for Germany, they are the strongest candidates, player quality is evenly distributed in every position.

I agree with you. France has little chance of lifting the world cup this time. I have checked various betting sites and the favorites seems to be Brazil, followed by Germany. Some of the betting sites such as Skybet has given equal odds for both Brazil and Germany (9/2).

If you look at the quality of players, indeed the three teams have a desire to win in FIF WORLD CUP 2018. But in the world of football there will always be surprises, like Italy who have good quality players but they do not qualify to appear in FIFA WORLD CUP. There is a possibility the three teams will not win.

In addition, teams like Germany, France and Brazil will be big challenges for Ronaldo cs after qualifying from the group phase.

Nobody ever imagined Portugal winning that match or rather it was all due to luck if you ask me. This is what we humans don’t consider while making predictions. We depend on facts and information. If we keep this fate factor on one side for some moment and give prediction for the winner of this FIFA, it would be definitely Brazil or Germany. For me, it is Brazil as it has many good players.

Obviously Brazil and Germany have better quality players from Portugal, Portugal is relying more on Ronaldo. And if I review it, the luck factor alone is never enough in football. Good luck must be accompanied by a mature strategy. Then what about a coach if the club / country only relies on luck? Where is their credibility?

But I appreciate their persistency and sportsmen spirit and now Russia is a part of FIFA world cup 2018. At that time, nothing was as advance as it is now. I am pretty sure that many other country would also be having such football grounds years back. All the teams that are playing in FIFA have good players but some are better than others and Russia is a tough team.

Thank you Barbut. I would even add that anything is possible, even favorites dropping out of group stage. Remember 2002. when Portugal and Argentina, 2 best teams besides Brazil didn't get through? Remember what happened to England, France, Spain not so long ago .. Heck... look what happened to Italy (it this the first one they will miss?)!

Brazil will be almost everybody's favorites against Belgium, but I give Belgium a slight 60-40%. Portugal - Croatia is 50-50%, but I still remember Euro (a hard wound) where Croatia outplayed Portugal in all elements of the game except the reactions from the bench (we had a very lousy coach back then). I also wouldn't put Croatia in the final, but again - looking at the brackets, it looks possible (I tried to be as objective as I could) something similar to the situation with France (although France has a much stronger team.... so many young stars).

This edition of the world cup will be in Russia and obviously the European teams will benefit from familiar conditions. Latin American teams such as Brazil and Argentina will be having a tough time adjusting to the unfamiliar weather and crowd in Russia. And I don't think that Argentina will advance that far, considering their current form.

Yes, I wrote so. But my predictions are based purely on the base that Argentina is playing so badly that it is a matter of question whether they can get past group at all, so I believe that 1-4 in this group is totally open. If Croatia will be second I don't think they will go past France. And I also really don't think Argentina will be first in it's group. Whether the first will be Croatia or Nigeria, or maybe  Argentina after all, I don't know. But I think that nothing after that is unrealistic. In any case, I had to play with it my way. Croatia traditionally plays good against Germany, and have already proven to be much better than Portugal 1 on 1 (and now has a much better coach). I even think Croatia is more prone to loose again Peru then Germany or Portugal, really.

I based my predictions on current form, a strength of teams, and traditional playing styles which, when confronted, end in various surprises, to everybody but a trained eye (everybody has a "black cat").

Regarding Argentina, the fact is, if they didn't have Messi I would've totally left them out this time.

If we talk about who will win, the strongest candidates will always be in Germany, defending champions who maintain their good performance. But rivals for the champions are very heavy, Brazil, Spain, Argentina, France are also ready with a squad that deserves a champion. Croatia is actually 90:10 stronger then Island. Island is a fantastically solid and well-organized team though.

If we don't look at the brackets and take the current form out of the equation, I think this would be the right order:

1. France 1:2
2. Germany 1:2
3. Belgium 1:3
4. Brazil 1:4
5. Spain 1:6
6. Portugal 1:6
7. Argentina 1:8

9. Uruguay 1:12
10. Colombia 1:14
11. Croatia 1:15

The raw talent dividend among those teams, especially France at the moment, is incredible.
Then comes the rest of the lot, who can beat each other or any of the top teams, but don't have a real shot at the title.
Possible semi-final surprises could be Egypt, Russia (only because they are the hosts), Nigeria, Poland, Serbia, and Peru, maybe Senegal.

If you look at the form and the brackets, then the situation becomes quite different as there are many possible variants when top 12 teams are playing against each other.

We also have to take into account the possible surprises within groups. It is a question who out of Nigeria, Croatia and Argentina will pass the group. Portugal can easily go back to basics and disappoint. England? Would be far from the first time. Uruguay has hosts and very tricky Egypt to play against. Colombia is everything but stable. Switzerland could play three goalless draws...

I'd agree with you on all the four favorites. And for outsiders, I'd add England along with Argentina, Portugal and Belgium. My choice for underdogs would be Russia and Colombia in addition to Uruguay and Croatia. Long shots will be Mexico, Denmark, Switzerland and Sweden.

Buffon is no doubt one of the greatest as well as a legendary goal keeper of all time and beside his performance, he is also a man of great courage and spots man spirit and it makes me very sad when I remember this that Buffon has retired from his national team and we will no longer see his reactions in this world cup. Buffon also had great experience that’s why he is leading Juventus up till now.
