Yea, it is really not surprising that Argentina lost today. After their struggles with Iceland in their opening game, you could tell that Croatia will provide a much tougher game. What my actually shocks me is how Messi has not been able to influence the tournament positively at all, and it very ironic, comparing that to Cristiano where he has less stars in the Portuguese team aiding him.

Haha, they really need to be flogged. For me I think first and foremost is an issue of a very good manager who is really tactically good, and not just there to piece together stars on the field. Secondly I think they need to find a "balanced team" especially in the midfield CM. CDM. They always pack their squad with attackers who almost all play the same position. What is the point in that if they will just be on the bench. So again, they need a manger who can say I am not picking all of the "world class" attacking players, because we need complete balance in the squad.

I concur. He was so frustrated in the last few minutes that he didn't even shook hands with one of the players that fouled him.It's obvious frustration comes from the fact his team-mates can't play as good as him.Messi did hit couple of shots on the target though.That's the closes they got to the winning today.

This is what happens when you lose momentum. The half time score read 0-0, but a terrible mistake from Willy Caballero resulted in Croatia taking the lead and Argentina coming under pressure. Although the final score read 3-0, the match was lost after that one mistake. Messi and all his teammates looked incapable of scoring in the first half, although they tried hard in the second.

If we compare the skills of Argentina with Portugal, you will notice definitely that 1 player could make the difference. CR made miracles while Messi missed everything even a simple penalty in the previous game

3-0 is killer though! Huge surprises this World-Cup! I hope one of these low-tier countries don't win the match!

Absolutely. I expected a lot more from the best player in the world.

But tbh, his performance in the last 2 matches have been really disappointing. First game he missed a crucial penalty, today he simply disappeared from the game. Argentina needed a playmaker today, but Messi failed to deliver such role (whether it was because of the tactics or because he played poorly is debatable). So, even though the whole team was awful against Croatia, I expected more from Messi. Maybe he chokes during the big stages?

Nigeria Iceland and Serbia Switzerland would be nice to watch.

No way , they didn't play well if you look at the ratings of the each player its below 6.5 ( except Messi) .
They started with the hope of winning the Cup but now they are hoping to qualify from the Group . There is still chance but it also depends on other teams , if Iceland wins the other two matches ( which is difficult ) then Argentina should pack . Today Nigeria - Iceland is an important match for them.

That first goal from the argentina goalkeeper is really kill the game, i'm sure if that thing not happen, different result will happen. 0-3 win for Croatia, well that was unexpected. I thought i will be close, Messi alone can't carrying their whole teammate in world cup.

The group stage has been hard to predict but I think European champions Germany and Spain has better chances than anyone else.
Belgium and England can just perform with the weak teams. Portugal is still a potential team after their Euro win.

In fact, the group stage revealed that many teams are in fact weaker than we thought.
England without Harry Cane, Portugal without CR, Uruguay without Suarez, +/- Spain without DC...will not go too far which is shameful!
At the opposite Russia and Iran are playing very well if we compare their players to the Europeans players.

Many teams rely on their well known players and it seems without them they can do nothing. There are teams with less top player and depend solely on the team work which give us more good entertainment.

Right, it is up to the team work and not up to a single or few players as we know that the ground is very huge and players are more in numbers so what if few players are playing well in one area and other players which are not well in game will not play in the other areas. Ronaldo pretty much better than Messi and after seeing this match results it proves that Messi only good in Barcelona and he has not became the player who can surpassing Maradonna achievement even he was not more better than other Argentina players however since he was failed to made goal through penalty kick against Iceland apparently his mentally was dropped and very unfortunate Argentina have to go home early
