Can you give some relevant statistics about this? What are the prices per masternode right now and until when is it possible to participate?

Well, I'm still trying to understand the PoS as it relates to $NIX but a number of people have been most helpful with explanations.
Interesting to see how this affects pricing for $NIX.
But, as it is, she's a bargain and a GN has real potential to be a solid, passive income stream in the future.

What was the reason for this decision and what benefits will it bring for the NIX future?

it will help to secure the network by not allowing miners or one person to be able to eventually overpower the network with a 51% attack or it will be a lot harder for someone to do that theoretically. The rate of inflation with the staking instead of mining will also slow down. If I'm completely wrong then someone please correct me

Not only that, miners ussually mine and sell due to mining costs and because that is the business. With POS all current mining rewards will go either to GN or NIX holders who aren't so willing to sell.

The move shows that the team is adaptable and is looking for the long term of the project which is definitely a good thing. Plus it will give nixers more of a reason to keep in the wallet and stake

The new NIX specifications once PoS has been implemented.  The 2% inflation accounts to around a 5-6% staking ROI. All numbers stated are not final and are subject to change.

Staker reward: 2% guaranteed inflation (~4.5 NIX / block).
•Ghost Node reward: 18 NIX.
•Development fund reward: 4.5 NIX.
•Total Block reward: ~28.5 NIX.
•Block time: 2 minutes.
•Block halving every 4 years.

Since you mentioned filling your bags,  I decided to check the price (I haven't looked at prices for anything in awhile).      Man.. ranked 369th,  20 cents -  if they are able to achieve their goals,  this will easily 10x at current levels, and well beyond during a whole market bull run.

NIX can go to a X100 a beyond, it is setting al the pieces in position to achieve it. In 2019 price will start to kick with DEX manager and vault usage, after 2020 real moon with masive adoption abmnd crypto market recovery
