Very interesting this new coin Smiley

Does the software need to be running on local computer to generate POS?

says i can generate next block in 1 day 5 hours?? this has been running for 2 days already?

do you have to keep your pc switched on or not?

how can i have the same amount of coins for 2 days, it is stuck at 70000 for 2 days something is not right with it,

In the my transactions what indicates the confirms??

this is not mining, how to tell if it is even doing anything?

The timer is changed after each new block.

Hover cursor over "10+" to get exact number of confirms.

Look at Recent blocks to see if it's mining.

says over 2000 confirms, and blocks are coming in ...block 2356 now.

So is it mining?  and also if i had 70000 2 days ago should i have mined something by now?

The pc did shut down for a while, does it not mine if the pc is closed?

i thought i was 24 hours after getting first coins you could mine but 2 days later it is saying have to wait another 2 days 12 hours before i can generate the next block?

The more Nxt you have, the more you are "allowed" to mine. so if you dont have much you can only generate a block every few days. for me it says 17k days or something, i guess no mining then Tongue

crazy idea so those that started with loads will just mine it all??? that is rather a mad concept.

A bit "strange" yes, but people seem to ignore that fact somehow...

Edit: ofc mining here is different, as you can only get transactions fees and not new coins.

you can also run it on a server, your acc needs to be unlocked in the client and the program needs to run, but you can close the browser

New coins are not generated at all. Miner's salary is paid only with transaction fees. An account must be unlocked to mine. Timer in [Recent blocks] is just an assessement, it's changed each new block. A few coins will generate a block very rarely, so we need someone to implement pooled mining.

Wouldn't this require handing over the private key of the account to the pool?

EDIT: Or a transfer of funds to the pool

Do we have a bounty for a mining pool?
What is the progress on the guy who said he will setup a centralised Nxt/BTC exchange?

No bounty for the pool AFAIK.
The guy said to wait for a couple of days.

how would a nxt pool work without granting the pool access to the account an therefore funds?
there is no getwork scheme or similar. if someone provides an abstract workflow i could try to
built one after finishing the blockchain explorer.

There is no "getwork" possible in Nxt. Trusting required for pooled mining.

Pool mining is not advisable at this point: the coin is very young, not enough users yet, and pool mining might lead to monopoly or possibility of 51% attack or...  When we have +10K users then we may start thinking about that!

Trusting required for pooled mining.
- so it is not possible, unless BCnext himself will be pool operator :-))

well, have some doubts this will work esp. as soon nxt get some traction.

what about adding a special restricted pool account where only poolers can make
transaction in/out with a signed key without moving the funds but blocking them.
or adding a special announce flag to the client, indicating a unfakeable open
wallet status with an option to choose from some mining accounts mentioned above?

just some quick thoughts...

this is true but a pool would give new users mined coins, even if fractions.
since we are dealing with humans here, this would be a positive signal for nxt
and encourage users doing more and a pool isn't built this quick, so it makes
sense to think now about this.
