Who all these ppl who buy NXT? Was there an article somewhere recently?
Just wait for the articles to appear. The number of people from all over the world getting in is growing exponentially, and virtually nobody wants to sell their NXT currently.
Let's call this sitaution a market  Grin

Once a transaction has 6 confirmations, it is extremely unlikely that an attacker without at least 50% of the network's computation power would be able to reverse it.

Actually, what would provoke you to paniksell ? Most of us are already hardened with bitcoin price fluctuations... I just can't imagine which kind of bad news may ruin this market. Even those scary -2000000000 nxt fees hasn't affected market price yesterday.

There is no reason for panicsell.
It´s much easier to buy low at this price if you already have a wallet of BTC and then dump when you double...

Can someone explain to me why Nxt is getting so much value
I think it's wrong to look that way. Value always relative. For example, I'm valuing comfort and handable risks so I for now don't wanna go all-in, and someone just love to gamble. We can see different people (with different free capitals), and at DGex people who value fast BTC profit (possible fast $ profit or/too) meet people who value NXT opporunities, ideas (and some "$->NXT->$$$" too, ofc). And with time an equilibrium comes: price. No such thing as fair price.

I started some older version of NRS on Raspberry Pi. It worked well, but maybe the NRS version was not stable enough - it crashed over night.
But it was slow to unlock wallet there though.

Let me know if you need more details.

could raspberry Pi idea work?

Yes. I saw an article in russian where the author stated that he was running NRS on PI.

I have a bunch of dedicated servers, but all at one data center. Is there any benefit from deploying the server code on more than one of the servers?

What would the typical CPU load be? These are compute oriented servers, so not much bandwidth for each, maybe 10mbps.

How much would this help?

James
In case of DoS it will help to spread the load... However in case of DDoS you will fill uplink (if all are on the same uplink)... Hosting provider could help figuring out that one.
That is the reason why I offered to operate just one additional node if someone would like to be a sponsor.

NXT is heavily undervalued right now. It should be above Mastercoin for sure. And we have much more community support and spirit over at nextcoin.org than they do on the mastercoin forum.

This coin has legs. The NXT devs don't sit around planning and discussing things for 6 months and drawing pretty pictures etc whilst nothing gets done... they follow agile development - get the product out there 'in the wild' and keep refining it til it's perfect.

I have a question: what's relative advantage and disadvantages of having a node on VPS versus on Raspberry Pi ?

VPSs have 100+Mb/s lines, connected through nice backbones, which one doesn't have at home generally. Also, they have enough RAM to serve thousands of private nodes at once.

RaspPis are dirt cheap, but can get the job of saturating a modest home internet connection done.

We do need both: an interconnected, fast, robust core network, as well as loads of private / "semi-public" (pull-reachable) home user nodes.

Quote
Since hallmarked nodes will receive more incoming requests, should all public nodes are hallmarked ?

I would say so, yes.

Add: Oh, innovation. A DDoS on dgex. Meanwhile, we're approaching 1e-4 BTC/NXT territory...

Thanks Dave. Another reason I just think of is that you can have a big account open to forge in a RaspPi node but there is a security risk when you open an account with a node in a VPS. Another thing I am wondering is that why can't we kill zombie node by refusing incoming requests from node without Nxt in account ?

I just want to express my gratitude at this community.  I'm new to this world, but have read every post in this 400+ page thread and been following NXT for nearly a week now.  I've seen an extremely collaborative, generous, and kind group of people.  You all truly seem to feel and practice the "better for the network, better for all" theory and I've seen no greed here.  It's a pleasure to get in at the ground floor of something like this, win or lose.  I just wish I had more crypto to convert or could find a way to get fiat currency into NXT immediately before the price gets crazier than it already is (+51% in 24h according to DGEX)
