I am also very disappointed! Whats the sense of releasing the code for a client that cannot even catch up to the chain!
Because the advance features are not part of the base code (we don't want copycats to instantly catch up to NXT). The devs have said they will release the advanced feature source codes in a few months I believe. The source code released today is so the community can verify the integrity of the basic functions, such as how payments are made, etc.

Could someone explain why it is intentionally being released with 3 security flaws?

So people find other unknown flaws if they exist. ........ And to avoid copycats.

My problem is that my "vacation" is ending and I have to go back to work. As it is I have neglected a few things and they have created a bit of a mess.
I have identified easy to implement solutions to many problems, but none of them are even acknowledged. Maybe people think I am some marketing dweeb, but I have written a C compiler from scratch, realtime forex trading systems, firmware for devices, etc. I am primarily a programmer, but I can also relate to the non-technical user.
Since NXT has tons of programmers, many probably even better than me, there wasn't much point in my contributing that way, so I found the BIG GIANT GAPING HOLE in NXT that I could fix.
aldrin has been the only founder who sees value in what I do and was willing to back it up.
I was ready to sacrifice my life savings and all other business opportunities to concentrate on NXT. I don't lightly do that since my services are in pretty good demand. I just can't afford to continue investing the time that I have without getting some sort of upside. I have of course purchased the NXT I can afford, but even if I don't do anything I would have that NXT. I am talking about 100% of my time.
It seems that isn't worth setting aside the NXT for me to purchase at a later date. That is what I asked for. Not an outright grant of NXT. Founders need to sell NXT, I wanted to purchase at around double current market price. I just needed time to come up with the funds. Basically structured as incentive stock options, which are standard fare for compensation packages for someone doing the work that I was doing.
I did my two week audition, I guess I failed.
James
You weren't acknowledge because we are in the biggest thread of this subforum. There is 600+ page. It's hard to spend time on each post. So valuable opinion are diluted. But now we know a bit more of you, i think people will spend more time reading your post.

A very newb question here -- why is there anticipation of a massive value change upon release of the source? People can begin work on releasing alternatives, I get that. The features haven't changed. What am I missing?
Nxt will be accepted in more exchanges, people will trust it more since the code was released.

Well, we used 0.4.7e just a few short days ago. It should be enough for reviewers to check whether NXT's fundamental logic works or not. Where's are CfB bounties for reviewers ?

dgex problems again...
DGEX is a disaster. They never sent me my approx 1,200 NXT, i emailed them 2+ weeks ago, they replied 1 week later to the effect of "we trust your issue has been resolved". I emailed them back and said it has not, and no reply. Just stole my BTC. I agree they also cancelled possibility to withdraw NXT for free - I ask why 1,4% its worse than banking fees!!! even Bank America has lower fees. And especially from somebody who apparently came in into NXT from the beginning who don't have to solve financial problems for the rest of his life well OK, its his offer we don't have to visit Dgex, but don't you think that 1,4% withdrawal fee is very high?? It is. Nxt withdrawal should be free! Graviton!DGEX Fees starting from 2013-11-28 applicable for now NXT BUY and SELL: 0% NXT deposits: 0% BTC deposits: 0% NXT cashouts: 1.4% BTC cashouts: 1.4% to 3.2% (instant) min. 0.0005 BTC have you ever seen it? 3.2% fee for BTC Is it a joke? besides all this now the Dgex is down....

A comment from the nextcoin.org forum regarding Dgex´s sgutdown. (((((I wonder that how was it even possible to have this crazy idea of shutting down the only working NXT exchange on the same day as the code publishing?))))
They publish the code, if the people will like it they will open the marcet if not, they will put closet and run that`s why they did that 80%.so..do people like the code?

one question. You dont always have to have the newest version installed to be keep your nxt right?
does someone know? Also: can I save my nxt by copying the nxt folder onto an usb stick? You don't need to keep anything to be able to preserve your NXT currency. You just need to keep your passphrase safe. Please make a random and long password. You don't need to keep an equivalent of wallet.dat. From the http://www.thenxtwiki.org/wiki/Current_FeaturesBrain wallet All Nxt account information is stored on the network. Using a secret passphrase, an account can be accessed from any instance of the Nxt software. (This is not very different from Bitcoin; the difference is that there is no automated generation of your passphrase/private key and there is no wallet.dat-like file. A Bitcoin private key still can be bruteforced without access to created wallet.dat file) Also: http://www.thenxtwiki.org/wiki/FAQ#Wallet.2C_accounts.2C_and_account_balances
