NEWS

The last chance to claim unclaimed coins is over.

We have ~13M coins left and they'll be spent for rewards, bounties and development. Now we are running a reward program. I ask the community to post here links (with short description and link to BTT profile) to projects/persons that helped to promote Nxt. Only projects launched before the 3rd of Jan can apply. There will be several categories, BCNext will choose 3 best participants from each category. I'll contact project owners via BTT personal message to get Nxt account ids for reward payments. The 1st place will receive 50'000, 2nd - 30'000 and 3rd - 20'000 NXT.

-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
Hash: SHA1

Version 0.5.0 is now available at:

http://info.nxtcrypto.org/nxt-client-0.5.0.zip
http://www.nxtcrypto.org/nxt-client-0.5.0.zip
http://forums.nxtcrypto.org/nxt-client-0.5.0.zip

(it may take some time to get it uploaded to all the above, so try
whichever works)

sha256: c0676985f9ef08852250ba1d3fe980ee1392c3f70be6917f384f3636fa6f06e3

This is to be considered stable release. Change log:

Fixed more concurrency issues, performance optimizations and code cleanup.
I have fixed all the visible code issues that I consider to be bugs, the
remaining TODO's on my list are a matter of code cleanup and refactoring.

Added a checkpoint at block 30000 (the start of transparent forging block).

Added wesleyh's update checker:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=345619.msg4294180#msg4294180
Use https://localhost:7875/update.html to check for updates - this feature
may still have bugs, but including it in the package is a good way to get
people to test it on multiple browsers.

I have not been able to find any possible cause yet for the most critical
in my opinion bug reported so far, transactions being sent to a recipient
different than the one selected. I have read through the relevant code
again, but don't see any obvious way how this could happen. I am not
ignoring those reports and believe it may be a real bug and not a user
error, but without a way to reproduce the problem, it is very hard to
track it down.

Thanks jean-luc for including my update checker. It is an older version but the only new things added are more usability so it should be good to test.

People will be able to test as soon as the next update comes out.

Without knowing where the bug is, attempts to work around it like that will only complicate the code.

There is no proof it was not a human error, which is possible when there are many transactions to be sent in manual mode.

Has dgex ever reported this error? He sent the most transactions on the network.
I mean, somehow he lost that 800k.

You'd think that'd be the first thing he would do. Has he? If not, why not?

You might consider sending some NXT to exchange sites that were asking some... so maybe we get NXT on other bigger exchange sites, as well!

Here it is:

You have all you need for them to credit your account.  Make sure you contact them with the transaction information.

...I asked you to look just in case the funds had been sent to a different account...
No answers on tickets =(

I am in the same situation. Sent 10k on the 30/Dec, nothing in my account yet.

I would like to apply for the reward program.

Name: MAC/MAC Red (indeed myself)
Project: nxtcoin-swe.net

I work full-time as a professional web developer and have created a website to promote NXT on my free time.
This website is, as far as I know, the first of its kind in Swedish. I decided to complete and release this work before the 3rd of Jan in order to help NXT get more momentum.
Since Sweden is untapped at the moment the goal is to bring in as many new people as possible from my country.

I paid for the domain and web hosting out of my own pocket. I also spent many hours designing, coding and testing the site. The goal was to make it feel as simple as possible to get into NXT.

Link to site:
http://nxtcoin-swe.net

Link to project announcement (1st of Jan):
https://nextcoin.org/index.php/topic,1898.0.html

Link to my profile:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=209462

Exactly which category this would belong to most you may decide for yourself.
Perhaps Articles, Utilities or Tech support.

Thank you for your consideration. I strongly believe 2014 is going to be a fantastic year for NXT.

He also reported being hacked. And he has also alluded to dgex being a beta. So how much of those 800k lost is down to

- NXT client error
- hacking
- dgex software error

He hasn't said. I did ask but he hasn't updated the topic with anything

Well I don't know if I am able to aply, I never actually expected any return for this....but if I do I would of course be happy Cheesy
But there might be others in that category that would deserve a reward more than I do...so just in case there is still a spot open in this category Wink

C-f-B, regarding my client problems I will post you a update later on. I haven't relay gotten home since yesterday and now I still have to do some work befor I can look into that.

Glancing over some of the recent speculations, let me clarify that DGEX has not ever claimed or mentioned the discussed bug of NXT sent to other address than what input to the client. Even if such a bug exists, DGEX losses are likely not related to that. They are related to other issues  - including the difficult to handle NXT network lag with 1000+ payments a day, unclear API deadline statuses in various stages of development etc. these fully acknowledged and now built into the risky business model.
