I know there are a lot of people following this thread who would like to contribute, but with it being so technical, not sure of how they can.
I have an idea that will let pretty much anybody contribute to NXT, but it will require someone to manage a bug tracking system. Not sure what the best bug tracking system is nowadays, but if anybody is familiar enough with it to set one up, that would be fantastic.
This way, people can report API bugs, usability bugs and everything in between.

JIRA is probably the best, but it's not free. A friend of mine has used http://www.redmine.org/ before. I could have it up and running later today, hosting isn't an issue. Not sure what I should use for a domain. I guess we already have one though? I never we realized we had a bug tracker! Pin, maybe you can put a link to it in your sig? I mean this seriously and as an open question. I'm fine with it, just a bit surprised.

Found some distressing news about emunie developer https://ripple.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=5399Seems he is a known scammer, but it is all third hand, so best if you make your own conclusions. Seems to be very suspicious that the presale was closed based on the reason that trolls took up too much of his time. Huh? If anybody knows of a serious competitor to NXT, please post about it. Need to know what the competition is up to. At this point, I am putting emunie in the potential competitor category. Until there is an open beta and/or open src, it could all be vaporware for all we know. Has anybody here actually used the beta of emunie? James |

Is it any good? Why do we need to pay monthly? I have a bunch of dedicated servers, if there is an open source bug tracker, then someone can install it on one of my servers. We need open source bug tracker without pesky fees. James |

Me and CfB already use Jira to track issues in our private repository on Bitbucket. It will be most convenient for me to have all bugs related to the nxt-client package there, where the code is, not to have to go to other websites. I enabled Jira for our public repository too: https://bitbucket.org/JeanLucPicard/nxt-public/issues and suggest that we start entering bugs and feature requests (such as API requests) there. I allowed anonymous issue submission for now, if spam becomes a problem I will change it to require Bitbucket login. |

Is it possible to add to the list of "Kind"? That way bugs for all the different NXT issues can be tracked in one system and you won't get bogged down by having to go through bugs in unrelated areas. All of these threads will link back to both forums. Consider them are gateways. Make someone stumbles upon a certain thread could find a way to all the information they need. Everyone should reflect on the concept of decentralization. If nxtcrypto forum is the only source of information for NXT, isn't it centralization ? Keep in mind that I am a global mod of nxtcrypto forum. But we cannot afford to play provincial interest. Everyone should embrace the concept of decentralization and let the information grows everywhere it can. The more diverse NXT eco-system is, the better chance NXT eco-system will survive and grow. Bookmark each thread to keep track of them. |

It's a very bad sign for eMunies credibility that one guy can derail what is potentially a massive project because he's a bit upset by criticism. Enough negativity, on to NXT: @Asianprepper et al: NXT must be NXT, not next, not nextcoin, not lovelyjubblynextcash.... It's NXT, and has to be NXT, for one simple reason: google NXT, then google next. See the difference? And yes, Damelon, Pin, we do need to get on over to Nxtcrypto (or even nextcoin.org) forums more. This thread is driving me mad, and i'd like to have a wider spread of smaller threads covering important topics. |

Nxt CubieTruck CubieTruck arrived here yesterday and I got it online with Nxt Client 0.5.4e and 0.5.5 after several hours work. To set up CT and let it work is not so easy but it can be handled with the help of google and some knowledge of linux. I promised to write a small guide for the set up of Cubietruck, so I will tell you how to do it and hope you nxters get CT set up and happy forging. The following steps may be a little simple and without so many details, but I will tell you what you need to take care and I hope I have time to finish it with details. Firstly, let's see the box. It's a little bigger than Raspberry Pi. CT was designed in Zhuhai and made in Zhuhai, China. Actually, I just learned it a week ago. Before that, I ran a public VPS node and a Rasberry Pi node. The Pi node has only 512 M memory, and it was very slow as I complained it before. It doesn't need any other device and it will just take you several minutes. Before we start it, let's learn a little about the cubieboard 3, that is, cubietruck. The official website is http://cubieboard.org . One great forum for it is www.cubieforums.com, which you will reference to for your question. You can find the hardware information about the board, and here I just mention the CPU is ARM A20, and 2 gb memory, and it has 8 gb nand flash memory, so you don't need to prepare additional micro SD card to install operating system to set up Nxt client. So now we install a operating system to nand flash memory. I choose to install lubuntu system. BTW, I downloaded lubuntu image from http://dl.cubieboard.org/software/a20-cubietruck/lubuntu/ct-lubuntu-nand-v1.01/ct-lubuntu-desktop/ , which is lubuntu 13.04 system, not 12.10. After download the image and the flashing tool, you can use the mini USB bus to flash the image to the board. It's simple to do according to those instructions. When the system installation complete, you can start the system. However, you don't know how is going on. Don't worry, you don't even need the monitor, mouse and keyboard. Plug the network to the board and wait one or two minutes, and then you can get your board IP address through your router's (here for me is http://192.168.2.1) client list. The client "cubietruck" is just your cubietruck board, and here I get my board IP 192.168.2.105. Now ssh with putty to your board. Wow, I connected to it. The default user name for lubuntu is "linaro", and password is also "linaro". So you login and do what you want to do. Do something as the above blog recommends to do. One important thing you need to do is to combine two partitions in the nand flash memory so as to get bigger root file system. "/dev/nandb" is mounted as root system, and after the installation you may have about 700 M space for use, but it is too small for install java and other development tools and libraries. There is another "/dev/nandc" partition which owns about 5 gb. You can get help from http://www.cubieforums.com/index.php?topic=1134.msg6783#msg6783 to get things done. I also installed desktop for the system by "sudo apt-get install lubuntu-desktop", and then installed x11vnc for vnc desktop connection. After those work, finally, I set up java environment and install Nxt client. I works fine and it's running very fast and easy to deal with vnc connection for web browser operating. I read that as "are we going to capitalise on Nxt" Ontopic: I use Nxt all the time, but NXT makes it appropriately in your face. Just a bit harder to type all the time. |

Some changes to Chinese text: 100% PoS was added to "第一个100%股权证明(100%PoS)的货币" since there is no clear consensus/translation on PoS yet but PoS is understood fairly well. Also, just throwing this out there -- do we have any Hindi, Gujarati, etc writers here? We've got a whole sub-continent out there who'd probably make great adopters  jpeg preview:  full-size pdf |
