So if you mine at 1Gh/s (and difficulty is currently 16384) - 19hr 32min 49.818sec per block (statistical average of course)

Bitcoin at 1Gh/s (and difficulty IS 1888786.7053531) - 93days 21hr 26min 40.914sec per block average

.
.
.

Which means to get a Bitcoin block is 115.28 times more difficult

Use 96 and 50 to work out the value Smiley

And if we go strictly by that ratio to arrive at a ballpark valuation, 1 Ixcoin is equivalent to roughly .00869565 BTC.  That's why I picked up a few thousand this morning at .0041'ish Smiley  I just hope I didn't just shoot myself in the foot...

So if this Ixcoin thing ends up behaving anything like Namecoin with regard to difficulty ratio based value (which it has so far), then the next difficulty bump will put an Ixcoin into the .036XXXXX BTC range.

It has a very buggy client as well... watch out.
Yeha it was a user error but early am i sent my coin to bitparking to sell.
I accidently used my btc deposit addy.

ANY QUALITY software would have errored out. Not scamcoin. SCamcoin decides to translate my btc addy into a ixcoin addy and go ahead and send my coin there. Not the addy I pasted it there no errors, just cya later. Seems kinda fucked when you can accidently send your wallet away by a typo. SO i post in their forums and they tell me this cant be fixed.

So apparently translating bad addies to someone elses addy is part of the client.

WHEN YOU PASTE AN IXCOIN ADDY INTO THE BITCOIN CLIENT, GUESS WHAT HAPPENS? IT GIVES YOU A FUCKING ERROR, LIKE IT IS SUPPOSED TO. IT DOESNT TRY TO TRANLSATE IT INTO SOMEONE ELSES BTC ADDY AND SEND YOUR COIN AWAY. IT GIVES YOU A FUCKING ERRROR MESSAGE THAT SAYS DONT SEND YOUR COINS.

Yeah it was my fault, but their software is a buggy POS, and somehow they actually changed the BTC code to make this normal behavior. This is one of the many reasons I call this scamcoin.

Git at https://github.com/ixcoin/ixcoin.git results in building normal bitcoin.

How to build from git?

You almost did. Remember that ixcoin blocks have 96 coins in them vs bitcoins 50.

I am also becoming a bit concerned about the level of 'control' a few individuals seem to have over Bitcoin.
I'm concerned about that as well. Everyday I find some new backdoor as far as technicalities are concerned. Decision making process is a mystery while it must be totally transparent.

The coins were sent to a bitcoin address held by http://ixchange.bitparking.com/ exchanger. So I guess they are lost ?
Get your friend to PM me, or email me at the email address in the whois of the bitparking domain, with all the details and I can recover them.

thanks doublec already sent to your email. Still you shouldnt have to go through this, as a quality client could tell the difference between a valid addy and an invalid one, and  definitely wouldnt transform an invalid addy into a valid one.

people shouldnt play games forking the bitcoin if they dont know wtf  they are doing... I'm willing to bet, you never had the reverse issue. Never had anyone bugging you to recover their BTC from the ixcoin deposit addy. And nor should you have to.

This is time and energy out of your day. It isnt a flaw with your pool, your coding or your system, and yet you are the one people will come to expecting to fix it.

Yeah I'm a bit more annoyed than I should be, it is late and I am in a bad mood. But this isnt some glitch in a game. My char stuck between walls. This is money. Amateur hour is why BTC is at 10 right now instead of 15(the 17,000 coins lost at the exchange was due to amatuers, the mybitcoin theft was due to amateurs), we dont need to add more amateur hour to the system. WE need more professionalism.  Which you doubleC are showing.

Great start.

With more work this could put you in a good position to claim the Ixcoin statistics page bounty

It appears your mistake revealed a bug in the current Ixcoin code. Thanks for notifying the forum about this. We'll include a patch for this in the next update.

I understand your frustration but calling it scamcoin appears a bit extreme.

Thanks for PMing me the amount loss: 38 IXC. Considering this must be a bankrupting loss to you, I'd be happy to cover the 38 IXC in the hopes you regain faith in Ixcoins. Please PM me an Ixcoin address.

I mentioned this earlier too, the exact same thing happened to my friend and he lost some coins. Kinda sucks Sad

With the I0Coin coming out soon, who's selling their IxCoin supply ready to begin trading BTC for I0C when the first exchange comes out?
If I0Coin has anywhere near the success of IXCoin (And it should, it should have improvements) then anyone buying alot of BTC worth of it at the start should be a very wealthy early adopter in the future.

I'm selling off all my Ixcoin and going back to Bitcoin until I0Coin is released shortly, then to splash every Bitpenny i have on it Tongue

Why would you need to sell your Ixcoin (or Namecoin for that matter) in order to start mining a different chain?

Edit: Oh, nvm.  I read that wrong.  Anyway, I'm not selling.  I'm holding out til the next difficulty bump (how long til that anyway?) since it will likely come with a 3-4x bump in valuation as well.

So does anybody know how long til the next retarget?

~1300 blocks probably a day or two.

Does it still go by 2016 blocks per retarget?
