In the spirit of crypto, I'd rather take donations in CAT or BTC, if at all. I'm not doing this to make money from the community. But donations would be greatly appreciated if you feel it's a worth cause.

It's a worthy cause if it helps the CAT. I've only got about 400 CAT - ~300 from mining and about 100 from trading in everything else I've mined. I could send you all my CAT but without a target number I have no idea if it puts a meaningful dent in your expenses.

So my fellow Cats how's everything going? Wasn't much active in this thread for the past few days. please read though the few days evilish, there was some argument going on, not sure how this is now resolved... A lot of the argument was because many of us didn't understand that some of the work was being done here while much was being done behind the scenes on IRC. What appeared here made it look like our dysfunctional family was about ready for a 'reality' TV show. Maverick gave us the best summary/status here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=380130.msg4475976#msg4475976With an update here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=380130.msg4493988#msg4493988IRC Channels (pretty sure these are the ones - any missing?) ##catcoin #catcoin-dev #catcoin-test

I have been an avid onlooker, heating my hands at the fire of the symposium of hozer, Mav, etblvu1, and zerodrama in IRC. They have the kind of minds that feed on the abstractions of this ecosystem we compete in, and they are all deeply embedded in the problem of solving the last few barriers for coins - the ones that prevent widespread adoption of cryptocurrencies outside the confines of a few smoky channels online. Their passion is to improve upon the original, to address the weaknesses inherent to Bitcoin and its grandchildren. We have all seen the ravages of exploitative strip mining. We have seen cherished currencies, with branding Too Epic To Fail, raped and left by the side of the road by faceless coin-hopping multipools. And most of us have done it too, at one time or another - it is insane to imagine resisting profit, here in this world we are all glued to. In order for currencies to go mainstream, they will have to have resistance to these rapacious predators built into their very DNA. That is sorry news for the bottom line of quite a lot of people, but we all knew the party had to end one day. The glut of altcoins has gotten quite out of hand. We need techniques for thwarting the hedonistic riot that sweeps over so many scrypt-based altcoins as they are released to wider and wider audiences, and we need them to be intrinsic to the currencies themselves. Many of these ideas are yet a mere glimmer in some code-vulcan’s eye. Many of them are known to a few small pocket communities, where currency generation algorithms are still under heavy scrutiny, the changes not yet proven or ready to be shared. In the Catcoin development channel, I have watched, from up close, the meeting of questing, courageous minds, striving to iterate Catcoin out of its nosedive. I have seen brilliant ideas colliding, and philosophical disagreements that would tear lesser men apart, that could easily have sunk the development effort faster than Yoko Ono. But rationality is the most powerful force in the channel, and it is all pointed at rescuing Catcoin and maybe bringing the rest of Altcoindom along for the ride. Away from the vampire’s bite, away from the hopping godzilla leeches, towards a mathematical helix that is strong enough and resilient enough to make decentralized currencies viable. I can see them getting distracted by all the shouting here, and its why I came to post. We need them to stay oriented. The work they do is valuable. It is compelling and cutting-edge. Stop shouting at them, and start volunteering time or coins.

good morning CAT supporters,
i decide to not mine CAT during profitable time. I mine DOGE and sell against cat to support CAT. So if some others would also not mine CAT during low diffi it could not rise soooo much and maybe stabilze to a average diffi and the diffi jumps stops.
We should test it @ next retarget. Lets try. If you want CAT and don´t miss the low diffi go to another coin and exchange against CAT.
If you main supporter think it´s a good idea support it also and try to pormote it to other suppoters too

that's great news and wellcome! Please stay patient in order to channel CATs into the right direction - finding committed coordinators and implementators who pick up on your ideas might take some time and effort, in my experience. Perhaps three priority directions to be currently mentioned -> adding loyal CAT miners from newbe and teaching outside world how to mine CAT. -> creating services which start accepting CATcoins and so increase circulation among users. -> promo push via blogs, media, youtube to let CAT be better known to the world. Best of luck, and may the CAT be with you Kisa

Last1212 was contacting crypto.cat encrypted chat service with cooperation proposal. nadim@crypto.cat has answered that he can't open MacOs client. Last1212 is away for a while now, and not sure if he received some answer on the functioning Mac client... as this could be very symbiotic relation to CATcoin, is there any vlunteer to follow up on this and get cooperation started? they could accept CATcoins for their Tshirts or service perhaps and mutually promote each other. Thanks everyone who genuinely gave CAT some support over the last 3 weeks! Unfortunately I will be now off for a few weeks, but holding my breath for CAT to pull through

Perhaps one of the devs can try speaking to them directly.

I feel very encouraged that the quality of the posts has improved in this thread lately, and I sense a consensus slowly emerging. Although the current difficulty yo-yo is kind of annoying, 36 blocks of 50 coins that shows up at low points, represents inflation of just 1,800 coins for a coin that has over a million coins out there. Yes, providing low hanging fruit invites hoardes of coin hoppers who show up to gorge themselves on CATs (and I have proposed the shorter-term solution called LLACCA at https://bitbucket.org/dahozer/catcoin/issue/11/the-llacca-algorithm and a longer-term solution of loyalty credits (see https://bitbucket.org/dahozer/catcoin/issue/9/early-proof-of-concept-towards-loyalty - both use similar concepts) - but I do not propose to rush any changes on a panic basis, and let's keep the quality dialog going, and move forward deliberately and strategically, when this process yields a solid consensus and we are ready. The exchanges will also appreciate that we have matured as a coin, and are putting out well-thought out forks that are planned out well in advance. The reputation of the coin can only improve, if we stay the current course. For those of you who are not aware, there is substantial work and progress being made to put in place a genuine Catcoin testnet, so these concepts can be tested without the need to introduce any test forks to the main coin, and there is consensus among those who are in the developer IRC channel that this is a good thing and we will have the opportunity to test potential changes to the coin in the coming weeks, and will report back to you, so we can all contribute to the consensus building process. Thank you, Etblvu1

That's the current block. The wallet won't be 'up to date' until we hit the next block. Hashrate is extremely low at the moment, around 24MH/s according to the Catcoin Hashrate Charts (holy hell that's low..). EDIT: It should have become up to date just now, at least it did for my wallet.

Unfortunately I will be now off for a few weeks, but holding my breath for CAT to pull through I still looking for MacOS wallet. I don't have MacOS so I don't know how it is working and how to make it. I can start BOUNTY for it, but I cannot check if it works or not (if you have MacOS as second OS, pls PM me). My discussion with crypto.cat stopped on this problem. I see a lot of duscussion in this thread, but we still don't have working wallets. It is bad, mates. If you can make a wallet, please contact me via PM. So we can spread the word. BTW, I want to thank kisa2005. He helped a lot for CAT promotion and he didn't leave CAT in hard times. Thank you mate! P. S. You may see me in several other coin threads but my heart is still with CAT. I always happy to support any CAT project! I think it is hard time nowadays, we need to unite to overcome them.

Once I get my testnet up, I'll try my hand at compiling a wallet for Mac OSX, though I would greatly prefer someone with more experience and time taking on that issue. We really could use a Mac dev all the way around for future releases as well.
