Another sweep option was just launched.
The creator of freewallet.io (same person who owns Xchain and CoinDaddy) just pushed up a new version which supports importing private keys….. you can import the private key, then the address is then added to your address list. You can select the address and view all the balances, as well as perform any action send/issue/broadcast/sign

i have to admit that i did not care about counterparts. but after i took part in the NVO ICO i realised that this project is pretty cool. and after the next hack in the ETH universe i think its time that some ICOs switch to XCP.

Yes. Segwit enables sidechains. A Counterparty-specific one has been developed.

Bitcoin might split into 5 coins, so what about XCP? Are you forking into 5 coins, too? What about the assets in it? Now that BCC is ready to trade, I don't know how the authors of the subsequent XCP developed the forked bits.

Does this have anything to do with picopayments? "Picopayments is full fledged payment channels solution for Counterparty. It not only includes enhancements in the core counterparty-lib code, but a full fledged multi-asset payment hub implementation and command line interface. Picopayments will allow fast and very cheap off-chain sending of any Counterparty asset. This allows for numerous exciting use cases." https://counterparty.io/news/counterparty-on-scalability-and-the-future/

With transaction fees way down as a result of segwit, it's only fair to assume that XCP usage and demand will skyrocket. Allows much easier trading of many of the smaller assets built upon XCP (looking at all the Rarepepes). I think it's going to surge in price very soon, personally.

Do you guys think Counterparty would move to the new chain in the case of a hard fork? They state vaguely what their intentions are in their announcement.

its history would exist on any altcoin spawned from the main bitcoin blockchain, but there will be only one Bitcoin, would be a very bad idea for Counterparty to move to a minority and less secured BTC-altcoin, or for anyone to recognize it on the BTC-altcoin chain. I would expect people to sweep their counterparty addresses for the BTC-altcoin and then transfer to whatever exchange supports it to dump for the real BTC.

I've held XCP on and off since the beginning although have rarely used it. Burned some BTC and then sold for a good profit and have been in and out of it ever since and it has been good to me. It's fair to say that it's underperformed most other alts with it only sitting at currently about 3 x the original burn price. I just wonder what the future holds for it once BTC has Rootstock/side chains implemented. Will it still be relevant? I guess I am looking for reasons to buy back in again.
