Recent history aside, should we expect the XCP price to be coupled to BTC or USD long-term?  Perhaps the answer is USD since it wouldn't make sense for smart contracts to become 10x more expensive to execute when the BTC price increases 10x, right?  That would mean we can expect the XCP/BTC price to decrease whenever the BTC/USD price increases.

I don't think so. XCP price is driven by speculation only.  Are you talking about what will be in distant future? Speculation is much more complex than just counting the fees.

And there are many reasons why not to buy XCP now. This does not depend on BTC price

I will give 50 XCP (worth of $42.84 now) for that who register asset (alphabetic) what have biggest amount of google search results.
Example "EARTH" About 1,060,000,000 results (0.35 seconds).

Rules are that asset must have registered after 383931 block (now).
Address what have register asset need to have total 5 or more registered alphabetic asset before or after this competition have start (5 asset worth with this time price is $4.28).
Everyone is welcome to join to competition.
Asset name can have two or more word with space in google search.

What are some of the outstanding challenges facing the Counterparty Protocol?

Not being able to escrow BTC. If this was solved effectively how much of an effect would that have??? I think it would be a very big deal (the DEx would be more useful than ever, for example) but I would like to hear the opinion of others.

No Smart Contracts live yet. This is only a matter of time.

Competitors - Ethereum and now Rootstock (http://www.rootstock.io/).

Awesome idea. Do note that there is a hard limit in Google for max search results (25,270,000,000). However since most/all of the common words have been registered already this may not be an issue.

I'm still confused....it's a scam or a seriously botched initial crowd offering. There were 5,000,000 QSCO offered for 1 XCP. There are only 2,634,072 XCP in existence. They were supposedly bought out by someone and the crowdfunding cancelled. So, you don't have to worry about it.
