Anyone here follow BitSharesX? It seems like a scam or at the very least a beta project that makes a lot of unsubstantiated claims. How does counterparty plan to continue differentiating itself from such obvious scams, and is there a contingency plan for when the SEC or other govt. entity does a crackdown that doesn't differentiate between legitimate projects like counterparty that are done with little hype and plenty of real development vs. altcoins like bitsharesX that smell really bad?

Some of the articles on here discuss the problems with bitshares http://prestonbyrne.com/back-of-the-envelope/

Serious replies appreciated!
I follow BitsharesX, it's not a scam, it's a visionary idea and very respectable people are implementing it. You should follow it too.

2.0 projects supporters shouldn't view other project as competitor and downplay them, there is room for every body in the world of tomorrow.

That should be a major +1 on that. It's totally unclear what tomorrow brings, it's more important to continue the work of building this tomorrow then infighting and bickering (Something the community is unfortunately most excellent at).

more or less retired.

I want sell asset from some work and pay from incoming with x% for investors. What you think is best way make this? If i have planned to keep myself 25-50% depending how much i sell from orginal amount.
If i making 100 quanity of my asset so that is 100%, lets say 50 BTC is 100%, if i keep 50% that is 25BTC, if i keep 25% that is 12.5BTC. Is this right way to do this, what you think? I want keep all so simple what is possible.

I was wondering the same thing. Maybe they wait for counterparty to reenable CFD.

I am trying to access Counterwallet from my Mac.  I have updated my Safari browser to the latest version, but I am getting an error message "Your Browser is not supported with Counterwallet."   Is anyone else using Counterwallet via Safari?  Any pointers?

I use Chrome also. I did pull Counterwallet up with Safari quickly and it appeared to work properly, but I did not try to execute a trade or anything.

I have had no problems logging into Counterwallet with Safari on my Mac.  Latest Safari version 7.0.6 on OSX 10.9.4.  I question whether a few things are really 100% working as they should, but basic sends and broadcasts work fine, and I made several trades (including BTCPay) a month or so ago.

I don't recall ever seeing such a message, are you just going to counterwallet.co?

Just FYI, I have brought my JLTRADINGCOIN trading token, which was the first actual trading token on ClearingHouse, to CounterParty due to bugs constantly encountered on the ClearingHouse platform.
Essentially, I was unable to sell JLTRADINGCOIN's to BCT members' buy orders and had a PM inbox full of "I'm unable to purchase your coin due to errors" messages.

Anyhow, I'm hoping the CounterParty platform does better!

We're glad you're here.
I'm just curious: why did you go with ClearningHouse initially, and not Counterparty?

Speed of transactions on ClearingHouse using VIA...which became moot once transactions stopped matching due to bugs.

This is a great example of why the core xcp dev's should take a snapshot of current xcp holders and do a parallel XCP system on viacoin, clearly the software is complex and needs the support of the core developers but some people want the faster block time.

Then we get the best of both worlds.  Direct access to BTC, and also a faster trading system for people who don't care to pay dividends in BTC.  And financial benefit for XCP holders.  Sort of like a 2:1 split.

Plus for some projects it is too expensive to use the btc blockchain.  And let's face it BTC likely won't be getting much cheaper.

I'll shut up now ... Since I know my ideas are not welcome.

Just so you all know, #xcp is a thing...  Wink

IRC is a much better tool for open source projects than Skype.
You can have chat logs, you can choose between multiple clients, and you can join without being invited.

people can also grab your IP and steal your bitcoins... hasn't happened to me but I know people  Embarrassed

seriously if you are going to do IRC clock your IP or use TOR

should wait for sidechain, make a faster block time there, and boostrap that with the current xcp holder at a random block X, rather than going with viacoin or other obscure ones.

Benefit is the monetary system still relates to bitcoin where people are more willing to supports than clone coins.

side chains are not very secure according to some and who know when and if they will ever be production grade, might as well use a regular exchange.

whether we like it or not the fact is that there are well over 500 blockchain networks out there right now, and that means a lot of unsed transactional capacity

someone will take advantage of that transactional capacity.
