This is a reminder that in approximately 18 hours, wallets older than version 4.6 will stop syncing with the network. This is due to a fix is difficulty retarget. Please update your wallets from the OP or recompile from github.
Thank you

Hi to all members of the still small CACH community,

there are hundreds of altcoins out there. Lots of them are more or less “shitcoins”, just copies of Litecoin or Bitcoin without any special features. But beyond this mountain of useless altcoins there are just a few real potential altcoins.
In my opinion the cachecoin is definitely one of the more potential ones or even the most potential one.
(But it’s not my intention with this post to praise or to list all the pros I see in the cachecoin.)

In order to get the attention it deserves I think we have to put a little more structure in promoting and development of the coin.
I would like to suggest a few possible points that came to my mind:

Basically we have to build a nice, competent and experienced dev and promoting team (that does not mean that I am not appreciating the work done by kalgecin – quite the opposite, nice work done so far!) as well as structures that give the community the possibility to give some feedback or to post suggest new features and support the dev and promo team.

Dev team: for creating and implementation of the features/content
Promo team: for communication of the features, content etc. you may say it’s the output.
Feedback/input channel: input from the community for dev team and promotion team

We may consider to create a platform for coordinating the work (external forum, should not be the official thread on bitcointalk, nevertheless could be public as well. Maybe some skype groups as well etc…)

Some brainstorming:

Dev team:
-   Updating and bug fixing
-   Implementation of new features
-   Creating binaries for Win, Linux, MacOS
-   Maybe: Create Android wallet or iOS App

Promo team:
On the one hand communicate the features and content and create image (what kind of image has to be discussed)

-   Generally: build up a feature list (question: Why should I join the cachecoin community)
-   Website   (news, design)
-   Official threads (create structured entry post with most important features and latest news, as well as support in the thread) on bitcointalk, litecointalk etc.
-   Media (writing articles for blogs, news pages about cachecoin its features, news)
-   Exchange sites and get listed on other mining information/comparison websites
-   (near) future: make coin attractive for merchants to accept cachecoin as payment
-   Other promos like giveaways
-   Social networks / social media , maybe in future

Feedback/input channel:

-   Bug report
-   New feature list, maybe with a voting system
-   Platform for community decisions

All this of course can be done by volunteers, we may raise funds by donations and pay “team members” or we can do it with bounties and pay for completed tasks. There are pro/contra for any of these solutions…

As I am not a native English speaker my language skills aren’t perfect, I apologize for that and for the dramatically enthusiastic statements at the beginning of this post. (It would have been even richer in metaphors in my native language Cheesy )

Feel free to comment on everything!

Just my 2cents  Tongue

Great ideas. I think raising the profile of CACH in any way shape or form is a must to push the coin forward and exploiting social media outlets to further this is a very promising suggestion. A smaller, dedicated forum on the CACH website would almost certainly help development as well and would help to build the community up around the coin. I think marketing the coin as if you were to market a business or a product is a surefire way to get it noticed.

I would be very happy to setup a forum or a wiki with info for potential newcomers to the coin but I think if it were to be hosted on the official site it may lend itself to the authenticity and boost the credibility of the site.

Hi folks!
Thank you all for the consistently positive feedback, not only here in this thread but also in our irc channel #cachecoin.

Since a lot of you agree with the cachecoin agenda posted by me above, I further want to suggest that I start with cooardinating everything, especially in the first step building up the communication infrastructure so that we can coordinate everthing further outside this topic.
If you are not okay about it, let me know, but for the start somebody has to take the helm. In future I might prefer more democratic decisions.

I agree with r05, we should integrate the communication channels on the official website.
@kalgecin: What do you think about it?

A small dedicated forum with a public area and a closed area for the cach-team (dev+promo)?
What do you think a project managemant tool like Redmine?
http://www.redmine.org/

Besides this I'd like to create a list of those who are willing to help and how.
To make it easy, please send me an PM with how you might help, how much experience do have in it etc..

Since there is a lot of work to do we should consider collect donations o finance this agenda. Maybe not everyone is on the one hand able to help technically or due a lack of time and on the other hand is should be fair if those who spend a lot of time get a little expense allowance or bounty for the work done.

Are you okay with that? What are your thoughts about this?

DiggingD33p

Edit:
To add two more points to the agenda: Reddit
In order to create a community feeling, lets start to use the cachecoin logo as avatar Tongue
But before there should be a discussion if the want to improve the existing one.

I would be happy to host it. When I get home today I'll start work on getting something running in the way of a community forum - I'll be in the IRC channel so feel free to suggest features for it.

Here is a online spreadsheet. Everyone who is willing to help, please fill out:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AiqsjY_52Rr7dFlJSFpGVXpockEteWsweHRPS3o4emc&usp=sharing

EDIT:

Besides setting up the communication infrastrucure, kalgecin you might consider editing the first post of this topic.

For a new user seeing this topic it is actually hard to see benefits in joining the cachcoin community and even worse:
If I saw it right, there is the frist copy of cachecoin: cashcoin with to be honest a far better feature communication/ first post.

the chain start time for CacheCoin is

Code:
int64 nChainStartTime = 1388949883;

(see github repo src/main.cpp)

I find outdated startT numbers like 1387769316 (taken from QQCoin) in some miner example parameters posted here. Like right in the FIRST POSTING. Please fix, or a lot of GPU miners will fall out of service at certain times.

which of the miners in the OP have wrong start time?

Code:
GPU miner for Windows, usage (edit pool-miner.bat):
applecoinminer -o stratum+tcp://cach.catcoin.cz:3333 -u worker -p password  --scrypt --Nfmin 4 --Nfmax 30 --StartT 1387769316

Or if you prefer solomining, edit solo-miner.bat (make sure cachecoin.conf is in appdata/roaming/cachecoin with username, password and port specified):
applecoinminer -o 127.0.0.1:9556 -u rpcusername -p rpcpassword --scrypt --Nfmin 4 --Nfmax 30 --StartT 1387769316

it's all wrong. copy/paste from QQCoin.

see https://github.com/kalgecin/CACHeCoin/blob/master/src/main.cpp  line 45

and why does it say applecoinminer when this is about CacheCoin.

I have emailed Poloniex (https://poloniex.com/) and asked if they would be interested in CACH. It's very quick, very reliable and is used to trade several coins which Cryptsy or bter haven't touched.

I have used it several times in the past few days and it's actually surprisingly good so hopefully, we'll see CACH pop up there soon..

If you try to compile cpuminer version for cache on Mac OS X (10.9.1), use ./configure CFLAGS="-03 -no-integrated-as" to avoid llvm errors.
