Quick question, how much time will my cache coins to get confirmed???

If you mined or staked them : 520 blocks (about 5 days) - then you can manipulate with mined coins. For ordinary transactions, only 6 confirmations are needed to resend the coins.

I have 100 coins that are 4 weeks old and I haven't had a single stake yet. Wallet is open 24/7.

Same here...
Kinda annoyed and a little bit concerned. There is no officially published information on staking or figures regarding it. This is a POS coin yet so many people are not getting stakes..

Can a dev chime in on this issue? Or anyone who has any info?

+1, nearly 50 coins here, some are 3 weeks old, currently no stake, no interest. :/

If your wallet is unlocked, then you're just unlucky. It also depends on the tx size. since the stake occurs not for individual coins, but coins in a transaction, if you have a lot of very small transactions, they might not stake. This is to avoid further pollution of the blockchain. Workaround for this is to send your balance to yourself

So:

- the wallet must be unlocked
- the wallet must be open
- the coins must be greater than 7 days old

in order for coins to be staked? For the benefit of others, can some confirmation be given on just how to unlock wallets for the latest (5.0) wallet? Because it has been said previously that you just need to leave the wallet open, yet other POS coins say you need to leave the wallet open AND unlocked.. There isn't any clear definition for CACHe, which I think is leading to so many of our problems.

For any type of coin, your wallet HAS to be unlocked to stake. If you have it locked, it's like trying to add money to a safe that is locked Tongue pretty sure it's impossible. Unlocked, means not encrypted, of if encrypted then.. well... unlocked Cheesy [settings -> unlock wallet]

This.

I understand the concept of unlocking wallets and PoS, but with CACHe it has not ever been made official nor clear on how to do so. The "Proof-Of-Stake" info in the OP explains staking, but not how to do it. I don't understand how we are supposed to unlock wallets for staking, if the wallet itself does not have the option and the wallet commands have not been published.. Furthermore, the clause:

Quote
The PoS is not very CPU intense and there's no need to set anything in order to mine PoS. It's done automatically.

in the OP is very misleading! It is confusing - on the one hand, we must unlock the wallet to mine PoS. On the other hand, it's apparently done automatically?

It pains me to watch... Welcome to the crypto-world where almost everyone is horrible at explaining things, and worse, terrible at understanding WHY it is important to explain things you think are SEEMINGLY so self-explanatory. It is like 90% of the people on the these forums have a form of autism--no offense to anyone who may actually have it.

With YACoin, your wallet is by default UNENCRYPTED. That means you don't have a passphrase set. It also means Proof Of Stake should automatically occur.

If you set a passphrase (which would ENCRYPT your wallet), you will be unable to gain Proof Of Stake coins UNLESS you set your wallet to be 'encrypted but unlocked'--for mint only:

(In the debug console in your wallet) walletpassphrase [password] 999999999 true

I HOPE that is a more sufficient response than what you have received. I'm assuming cachecoin works the same way as YACoin for POS. Although, YACoin is currently testing an easy-to-use, easy-to-understand POS interface.

PoS are not "mined". They are generated by the wallet.  All you have to do is have the wallet open and unencrypted.

It is - thank you for taking the time to make this clear. I think this needs to be added to the OP either in its entireity or rephrased somewhat for CACHe but you are correct - so many devs assume things about the user. This should not be the way, not when so many devs claim to want an alternative to fiat currency - they are, by not informing people better, only including the technically minded. Those who aren't technically minded and don't have the experience required are missing out.

PoS are not "mined". They are generated by the wallet.  All you have to do is have the wallet open and unencrypted.
This is exactly what I am talking about. Unencrypted != unlocked, in any variety of coin, as Beave162 said above. I think some serious thought should be given to how to better inform people, because a large proportion of CACHeCoin users are missing out on PoS because it is not clearly documented or explained anywhere. Not everyone has had the 'pleasure' of using a PoS coin before. Not everyone knows how to use them to their full advantage. Assuming that they do is cutting out a huge portion of your potential user base, because without PoS CACHe is really just like any other scrypt-jane coin. If you are going to rely on the fact that CACHe is PoS and push that as one of its main selling points then please, please invest the time and effort in making sure that people know how to use it!

Saying that the wallet needs to be unencrypted is not a good practice. All wallets should be encrypted imho for security reasons amongst all else. Saying that the wallet can be unlocked through the GUI is incorrect. Giving no command or link to commands to unlock the wallet is a very, very bad face to the user.

So what are the users supposed to do?

I do understand that documentation is a bit scarce, but That's the best I can do. I'm quite busy with other stuff, among which are uni research project, job, my on personal project, this coin, life in general... etc. I'm left with very few minutes to try and "document" stuff. I understand that this is not very healthy to the coin, so, I'm asking, if you feel like anything should be added to the OP, please email me kalgecin@gmail.com or post here, and i'll proof read and add to OP or wherever else. But please send complete stuff no asking me to come up with something to put Tongue I'd be happy for the help. More appreciation would be given if it's formated Wink

Edit:
Thanks to r05 for sending me a PM on "CACHe PROOF-OF-STAKE GETTING STARTED". Added it to the OP
