question: people usually recommend to use lower intensity when mining vertcoin.  If I have intensity set to 18, and my hash rate is going steady, and WU is also steady, does that mean things are working fine?  I have been mining on p2p and while i got some payouts, I just got unlisted from the payout list.

Wondering if I am doing something wrong here.

VspxPVafdfC8tC8iqQQ1t88GCeu5kb5hZf

I was one of those people. I'm running reference asus 290 non x's. At the higher intensities I would be stable for hours with better hashes and stable WU values no problem.

I mentioned using I17 because while i was getting the stable hashes/WU values @ I20 I was also getting major power fluctuations what with my lights flickering and such . . no matter what clocks I ran even the stock 947/1250.

It's looking like I'm the only one though so I guess it's just me. Still finding it hard to believe that the 5x290's I run are the problem and not the intensity...but who knows maybe I'll just try rma'ing all of them and see what goes because I'm running the same configs as everyone else. Maybe I'll just grab another at the end of the week and see what happens w/ that one.

are you mining on p2p or a standard pool?  not sure why i got de-listed from p2p payout list

Was doing p2p with incredible amounts of rejects before i lowered the intensity. Have been on standard pools since but I'm thinking I'll go back to p2p now b/c standard pools all are getting incredibly overloaded/ddosed

Having trouble syncing your wallet?

Open notepad, and browse to C:\Users\YOURNAME\AppData\Roaming\Vertcoin

Open (if it's there) or create, if it's not there, a file called vertcoin.conf and paste this into it:

addnode=95.85.62.207
addnode=95.85.61.243
addnode=95.85.11.240
addnode=95.85.2.11
addnode=2.103.238.193
addnode=107.170.12.12
addnode=107.170.12.43
addnode=188.226.137.228
addnode=107.170.12.43
addnode=23.96.51.70

Now close and reopen the wallet and it will sync.

OTHER PEOPLE ADDING NODES ACCORDING TO THE HOWTO AT https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=404364.msg4938445#msg4938445 - PLEASE QUOTE AND AMEND THIS POST SO THE FULL NODELIST IS ALWAYS IN THE LATEST POST, AND ALSO QUOTE THIS BIT SO THE NEXT PERSON KNOWS TO DO THE SAME.

I think I got them all from the earlier posts. I only see 15 connections here, I'm guessing more nodes will still help.

did it take you some time to start getting steady payments from p2p?

Guys just a quick update. My pool is being DOSd. I'm managing to keep stratum up, but the website is intermittent. Please bear with me while I sort this out. Generally, the website is responsive, but I am seeing periods when it will be unavailable for a few seconds, but mining is continuing and stratum has stayed up the whole time.

So has anyone managed to mine Vertcoins? Still can't get it to work. It's so frustrating.

Yeah, it's working quite well actually. What's wrong?
I don't know. That's the problem. I was trying to set it up last night and eventually gave up because it wasn't mining. I use CGminer with CGwatcher so I downloaded the modded CGminer in the OP and just replaced all the original files with all the zip files in my E:\Cgminer folder. Modded the configuration file as well with the appropriate changes (proper pool and lower thread concurrency) which are not seen below. Started CGminer it just didn't work.

Code:
{
"pools" : [
{
"name" : "Dogecoin - Suchcoins",
"url" : "stratum+tcp://us.suchcoins.com:3333",
"user" : "xxx",
"pass" : "xxx",
"pool-priority" : "1"
},
{
"name" : "Foxcoin - Luckyminers",
"url" : "stratum+tcp://stratum-eu.fox.luckyminers.com:3333",
"user" : "xxx",
"pass" : "xxx",
"pool-priority" : "0"
}
],

"scrypt" : true,
"gpu-threads" : "1",
"intensity" : "16",
"lookup-gap" : "2",
"thread-concurrency" : "24000"
}

Hey geokilla,

Try to find the right settings for your gpu in this thread : https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=416572.0

Novocaine,

I could help you out with the gpu-miner. I did try the cpu-miner out of curiousity but turned that off rather quickly as my i3's hashrate was around 10 kH/s.
That was very low two days ago, and right now the difficulty is approaching 80. Cpu mining sounds like a very bad plan right now.

That said, I don't remember the cpu-miner being very difficult to compile or run. What exactly is your problem? Does it hash? Does it start at all? Any errors?
