Wouldn't a 1 MHz scrypt ASIC able to mine this at 500 KH is everyone is hashing at half their max? What is stopping from small gridseeds to scale?

haha, fortunatelly not Cheesy ASICs are out of this..
they are built directly to be used on scrypt nothing else.. they are dumb devices doing just one task..
GPU can adapt to different n factor in this algo which will increase through time.. so even if they started to design new asics to VTC right now (and it is not really simple process), by the time its out, VTC may have higher n factor putting them again out of game Cheesy
This is why VTC is and WILL be ASIC resistant...

ASIC prevention will kick in in two years. Adaptive N-Factor is BS branding. VertCoin is just another shitcoin
ASIC prevention is NOW, dude. Have you even tried to mine this coin? It's hard as hell. The developers here are aggressive and will listen to the community. ASIC prevention is key feature of this coin. They will change N-factor scheduling if needed.

It doesn't work. The mining process simply becomes more difficult for everybody mining the coin when the 'Asic prevention' kicks in.

This.  Looking at the code, that's part of the reason hash rates are half of what normal scrypt coins get.  When the next Nfactor tick kicks in, hash rates will cut in half again.

Worse yet, when that next Nfactor tick hits, all of those currently working settings that everybody has optimized for all their cards will start killing cards like the normal scrypt settings are for the current Nfactor.

Sure, it's ASIC-proof, but it'll end up being GPU-proof in just a tick or two as well.

the next n "kick" is schedulled at feb 2016.. two years from now.. I think, it is not that big problem to tweak cg miner once more after two years Cheesy

This coin was created to kill GPUs as well as be ASIC resistant. A lot of GPUs are artifacting and dying trying to mine this. Going to stop mining when I get home tonight at midnight. Coin isn't profitable anyways.

Yaccoin is still faster using cudaminer and its already using the n-factor (32768) that Vercoin will be on in 2022.

Cheesy joker..
I had 2 GPUs died on normal scrypt.. here I am for some time and besides less power consumption, I dont see any problem with mining at all Cheesy you cant just tweak it.. that s all..

Yeah it's soooo hard to change a config every few years.
It's pathetic how they want to see Vertcoin dying. Cheesy

Don't get me wrong, I definitely DON'T want to see it die.  I never said that at all.  (Okay, I may have implied that with the "This." statement, sorry.)

What I did mean to say is that I seriously doubt with the way that the code was designed that miners won't be able to keep up with it.  GPU mining speeds have been getting better each generation, yes, but those improvements have been INCREMENTAL, not EXPONENTIAL.

I think ASIC's will be working on VertCoin, especially if it maintains success, a lot quicker than you all think.  Adding memory to an ASIC design isn't quite as hard as people make it out to be.  It's more of an added cost and more power budget than anything else.  But if it's profitable, they'll do it.  Unless I messed something, VertCoin is still pretty much scrypt, it's not a huge change at all.

I've been doing some reading and from newb to newbs I cant tell you that ASIC's will NOT be used to mine Vertcoins. I mean, it could be used, but as soon as the N Factor changes, a new ASIC would be necessary. So that is why this coin is very promising.

I trully believe this coin will be next big thing in cryptocurrencys.

Got my account back! It was hacked. Sorry about it :|

What is so hard to understand?

I said it doesn't work because the mining process becomes more difficult for everybody. As some guy here said, GPUs wont be able to cope and eventually the only miners will be ASIC with larger memory

Help please. I have been trying to mine vertcoin for a day now and it shows that I'm not even mining but when I look at my screen I see:

This is the command I'm using:

timeout /t 30
cgminer --scrypt -o stratum+tcp://crunchpool.mooo.com:9171 -u [wallet address] -p password -I 13
-g 2 -w 256 --lookup-gap 2 --thread-concurrency 8192 --gpu-engine 1000 --gpu-memclock 1500 --temp-target 70 --
auto-fan

But, on this page, http://p2pool.crunchpool.com:9171/static/#tipsfaq, my miner doesn't show up and I have gotten 0 payouts. Any ideas?

Just adding standard DDR3 RAM is too slow.

DDR3-2133 Peak Transfer Rate: 17066⅔ MB/s

GPU-Z says my 7950 has 240GB/s. And scrypt relies on memory speed.

The new FirePro cards will get 12GB of RAM for example.

Dunno how cheap an ASIC is with massive GPU memory and GPU bandwith + the risk that N would be changed.

And miners would still be able to compete with CPU mining with large amounts of RAM at high N against high memory ASICs.

Musent, append "+0.00[some value]" to your wallet address, see the p2p tips page for the value you need.

If your hashrate is about 1 MH/s for vertcoin than that value would be around 0.000235

So Vsdgegfgbsthe55twgtwrgw4tg+0.000235  as username.

You're actually doing more harm than good. Did you download the modified cgminer/vertminer for Vertcoin? I'm expecting you'll see about 1/2 those hash rates when you make the switch.

I have ASUS R9 280x (3 of them). I was able to get vertminer going just now but each card is only pulling 130 kh/s with this command:

timeout /t 30
vertminer -o stratum+tcp://crunchpool.mooo.com:9171 -u [wallet] -p password --expiry 1
--scan-time 1 --queue 0

Any params I should add to get better hashrate?

Go to the pool's site (http://crunchpool.mooo.com:9171/static) and go to the "graphs" page.
Under your wallets address you should see two graphs, compare to others and see if you get anything in the lower graph.
Might take a while.

Edit: You didn't configure your card at all, check the page dedicated to card settings. (See first page of this thread)
Edit2: Oh, in the message before your last one you did set parameters, disregard ^
