Coins do launches....why not pools?

And much as a general is nothing without his troops a pool is nothing without it's miners and as such I would like to recruit 50 warriors to come fight under my banner and in return receive no fees for life!
How does it work?
Go to our pool, register a new account, and email me (address in pool news) to get your account set for no fees. At that point if you want to immediately mine at our pool you may but otherwise you may mine elsewhere. At the point I have found my 50 I will send out emails to gather our forces for mining to commence! For Vertcoin, for freedom, to the death!
I should really ask for 300 Wink
Resist the spreading evil of the ASIC nation!

People, what do you think of VTC faucets? Do they really help with VTC adoption?  Or they're just useless and attract free coin hunters only?

I believed a member here once asked about developing an ASIC miner which will take into account scrypt-N by making an ASIC with lotsof RAM.
I've also seen posts that scrypt-N is useless and an ASIC maker may design their miner to mitigate adaptive-N with ease.

I quote a post from litecointalk from Terry L who is developing a seemingly reliable ASIC scrypt ZeusMiner. In summary he stated that it isn't as easy as it sounds mainly being cost prohibitive for now...

Terry I asked a question of jasinlee in another thread, but maybe you are still online and can answer. How difficult/expensive would it be to put 2GB of memory on an ASIC chip?
The reason I ask is to make a miner that can handle Scrypt N which needs a lot memory. If an ASIC had a sufficient amount of memory on it or coded to use external memory*, it would prevent the devs of coins like Vertcoin from raising the memory requirement of N too high. Most vid card have 2-4GB of memory and my guess the majority have 2GB, so that would limit how high they can set N without losing vast amounts of miners.

*I had several sha256 miners(which someone bought from me for a ridiculous price) and they would also do scrypt. They weren't very efficient at it because the guys had done some kind of coding that made it work. I can only assume they somehow used external memory(off-chip) that was on the units.

Quote
Terry L : i haven't got into the scrypt N coins yet but to put 2GB ram (i would guess you mean sram, not external dram) in one 55nm ASIC is impossible (QFN) at this stage (unless using BGA with a humongous sized chip like the CPU or GPU). it's because ram itself takes huge amount of space. however if you are opting for 16nm and BGA, it might be a good bet but considering the kind of money you have to put into design and development as well as the yield, it's way less economical comparing to gpu.

using fpga and dram is a fine alternative for now.

I found this on reddit http://blissdevices.com/faq/ Does it hold any weight?

Hello,

few nights ago vertminer started to shutdown itself every night in my rig. Dont know why but I made a little program which check status of vertminer and start it if he crush. Everything you need is to add path to vertminer bat file and thats it. There is also a log with details about restarts and crashes.

https://www.dropbox.com/s/s2t7usckmmeu0gl/ vertminerCheck1.0.exe   (please remove dash)

If you like it feel free to use it. This is version 1.0 and in future there will be support for all vert coin miners.

No seems like bullshit :-) From a company noone has ever heard of Smiley ...

If there will be ever an ASIC for scrypt n which is more efficient then the latest gpus - we will have some fun with it. But after its all paid and manufactured :-) Thats funnier.

Autoupdate and several other anti asic features are in the works... theres just no need now to roll them out quickly, they have to be tested and reliable before that gets rolled out into the main branch.

Yes, definitely  Grin

Anyway,
If there would be no N-factor increase ("Emergency schedule acceleration") to N=4096 by Vertcoin developers - just before the first day of selling any N=2048 scrypt ASIC - it would be total collapse of Vertcoin, imho

Theres not even a need to increase the nfactor, there are enough other tricks to render there hardware useless.

I am having 3 asus r9 280x cards and with the following settings one card is getting 16K/hash can you please let me know how to get proper hash on all 3 cards

vertminer.exe --scrypt-vert -o stratum+tcp://gns.pool.mn:3333 -u xxx -p xxxx -w 256,256,256 -I 13,13,13 -g 2 --lookup-gap 2,2,2 --gpu-powertune -20,-20,-20 --temp-overheat 85,85,85 --temp-cutoff 90,90,90 --gpu-memclock 1500,1500,1500 --gpu-engine 1000,1000,1000 --thread-concurrency 8191,8191,8191

Hi Everyone,

Webbs posted an update at http://blog.vertcoin.org/

Also, I must remind you all of https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=404364.msg5849489#msg5849489 - in short, if you are mining at Bitcrush or know anyone who is, please move to p2pool ( find a node close to you at http://p2pool.vertcoin.org/ ) or use https://vertcoin.org/pools.html to find a small traditional MPOS pool to mine at. While the current hashrate of Bitcrush is only 26% of the network, this is above the ideal of keeping all the pools (other than p2pool) under 20% of the network, and lots of other smaller pools could do with the hashrate - help to distribute and secure the network by mining at the smaller pools. http://www.verters.com/block-analysis shows the hashrate distribution - for some reason the Bitcrush address is not resolving on there but they are VqWrFa65uiRuRuxE2CKcVyoEfomwAMm52y - we need to ensure that when pools start getting big and the operators do not close registration, that we all take the responsible step of moving our own miners as necessary, and spreading the word about how the decentralisation of hashrate is the basis for security.

Thanks

try thread-concurrency 8193 or/and -g 1
I never get nice hashes with -g 1 but  -g 2 doesn'T work for some rigs.
