300 euros in Finland. Antminer S3's go for 200€ so the price is not that bad considering the noise, power consumption (~400W), GH and BFL epic failure drama bonuses. Maybe I'll edit a pic in this post later on when I get home from work. But it really doesn't matter. Everybody should know by now Monarchs exist in the wild and they all look ugly as fuck with a hint of weird awesomeness.

Now, relax. It's not a bad price by any stretch of the imagination, especially for a Monarch as they're kind of a novelty right now. It's just not a stellar price, it's about average for what the market would pay.

I'm on the same boat with f***ing  Slok with my problems with bfgminer.

I feel a bit dirty mining with it after all this fuss. It's a like driving a car previously owned by Saddam Hussein or something. But I like it. It feels like being part of history in the making. Like buying a DeLorean just when the company goes bust.

On a more serious note it seems to be running fine with the custom bfgminer provided by BFL. 600GH, 1% rejects and 3.5% HWE. Much much quieter than an Antminer S3 as the fan noise is just mild hum and not booming and whining like Antminer S1's and S3's.

By the way, current cgminer (4.6.1) supports the mofarcher, but there are no overclock options.

And the reason for the price being so "ok" and average was that the guy was selling it to the highest bidder on a forum.

I just bid 300€ right off the bat because 1TH @ ~1000W costs about 400 euros on the Finnish second hand market and S3's are 200-250€ so the right price for a Monarch therefore must be 300€ with a certain BFL sex appeal bonus. I ended up being the only bidder after a week of waiting for somebody to outbid me.

Pics coming in three hours so stay tuned. Spoiler alert: It looks like an ordinary Monarch. And the bfgminer screenshot will look like a Monarch running 600 GH/s with 1% rejects and 3.5% HWE. If I remember correctly, Eligius is seeing 575 GH/s as the 3h average hashrate. The unit is labeled as "550GH" by BFL.

But although one might expect water-cooled units to suffer leakages, I would certainly want to know what percentage of units we're talking about.

BFL (at least the BFL we know and love) never provided actual shipping figures. They always claimed that less than 0.1% of the 65nm products were RMAed, but there was never any independent verification.

I've seen at least 3 reports of leaks, one of which resulted in a personal injury and one in a fried board. But is that 3 out of 25? 3 out of 100? 3 out of 1000? And how many people have had leaks and not reported it anywhere but a BFL support ticket?

Are there official overclocks yet? I've been playing with mine and have found a few things, but the phrase "man this will blow up your FETS" really comes to mind in big, big letters. Being good at swapping FETs and chips makes this not a problem for me, but man it goes beyond "Warranty void"

For the moment, and while BFL is in this state of State imposed "stupid", I have a standing offer to review and fix any broken Monarch based on the stuff I have done with mine (700gh bought on Ebay). Charge is nothing other than shipping, donate money to your local soup kitchen. My reputation is what it is. :-)

As for the leakage, I have used similar water blocks on my Jallies. If they should leak at the joints or hoses this can be fixed pretty easily but you need to purge the lines of all air before you close the loop. No biggie.
