But two MPOS pools have a string: "Unable to connect to wallet RPC service: RPC call did not return 200: HTTP error: 0" likely a problem with the network AlienCoin...

cant someone start up a normal mining pool
Currently the problem is not with the pools, but with the fact that ALN has no gravity well mechanism installed to adjust difficulty, this is the same problem encountered by MOON earlier this year. Although it says difficulty retargets every 60 minutes I am almost convinced the dev meant every 120 blocks, as a consequence we see what is happening right now, a large pool hits it with several GH/s, difficulty goes up, the pool jumps of the train again and the remaining miners simply can't solve blocks fast enough, blocks take 20-30 minutes to confirm or longer. If my assumption of retargeting diff every 120 block is correct this would mean it will take well over 1 day for difficulty to come down again to a normal level, and from what I can understand from the code adjustment up or down is set at a maximum of 400% at a time. So all in all until the dev implements KGW this will be a problem that will happen over and over again...... EDIT: a rough calculation shows that with current diff at 4.65 and hashingpower at 19.4MH/s it will take around 34 hours to do 120 blocks, what I cannot see of course is how far in that process we are currently......

So, what's unique about this coin?
I'm deving this coin btw. As for uniqueness. Aliencoin will have a fair launch like 42. The first 300 blocks are 0.0001 block reward. Difficulty adjusts every hour or every 120 blocks. So quick retarget means that a whale of a miner cant push the difficulty up and then stop mining leaving it hanging with a high difficulty. I put alot of the same changes I made to 42 into this coin. Keep in mind that this will not take any resources away from 42. I will continue to apply fixes and updates to 42. hendo420 aka 42con artist and may be possibly the alterego of soopy. soopy just bailed out on NAV then ALIEN comes out of no where from the dead. hmmmm.

Another problem which I just found out is that I cannot send ALNcoins more than somewhere greater than 35,000-40,000 ALNcoins at once; below that "specific limits" you would be asked to pay around 1 ALNcoin to send 35,000 ALNcoins. Wouldn't it be greater for the wallet (or any cryptocoin wallet) to show beforehand the size limit ? At first, I thought the wallet "send coins" function was not working at all.

Looks like it's happened. Difficulty increased 400% and mining has slowed to a crawl. I've just revived CAGE which was also stalled for the same reason. I changed it to a per-block retargeting algorithm. Is there anyone here with a dev hat on, or should I do the same for ALN? Only catch is that it will require a hard fork, which means all pools and exchanges will have to update. To hit retarget without a fork will take about 16 days at 1MH/s, 1.6 days at 10MH/s, etc. But you don't fix the fundamental problem.

I've put a single 5 chip gridseed onto ALN. It will only find a couple of blocks per day, but at least it will (very slowly) confim transactions.
Offer to revive with per-block algo still stands if the dev has disappeared. (Is 9 days enough to be considered MIA?)

The dev was gone for months... then the coin pops up on Cryptsy... the dev posts... then deletes post... then disappears again. 9 days is nothing in the life of Aliencoin

It would be good to know IF the dev has any intention to fix the current ALN issue and implement some sort of KGW. Let's give it just a few days and if there is no response I would support any community initiative to get it fixed. If anyone is looking for a pool to mine, even if it takes ages per block, you can use http://aln.dutchpool.org (MPOS)

What's up with AlienCoin? It's up 800% on Cryptsy in less than 48 hours on good volume and not a single word about it on here?
Anybody know what's going on?
Cheers!

the coin is dead, a typical p'n'd. get out as long it's still possible at a good price Typical pump and dump, eh? 3 days straight and now 13 Bitcoin volume in a single day with the price staying rock solid over 180, up 500%? There's nothing typical about this price action. Something is up. Sadly, I only invested .01 BTC in it but I bought at the low of 29 Satoshi. Cheers!

Cheers! i bet that a massive dump will happen. look at the cryptsy charts on the 29th of July and the massive dump on the 30th july. the dev disappeared, the coin has bugs .... i don't know what should happen? maybe the dev comes back and announces "dark dark night send 2" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4mlgJ_5EQYQbut this doesn't mean that the price couldn't rise even more, i mean it's a p'n'd
