What affect will this have on Digibyte when ASICs with 5Gh/s hashrate (Skein) hit the market - is it an overall good or bad thing for Digibyte ?
No doubt it will be bad for GPU miners who will not be able to compete with ASICs, at least on the Algos used by the ASICs.

Exactly this. Until BTC stops very few alts are going to have a good time. People tend to oversell alts when BTC goes up so just wait til it calms down or until the next " xyz bans bitcoin" news & things will come right again.

It will rise be sure of this all this decline was chance for many to increase their share from future's profit. DGB was and still is one of the most active market with lot of whales involved in it. If you can buying now is worth or holding will not be profitable as well. Don't shake your hands.

Is it technically possible to replace one of Digibyte's 5 algos with Proof of Capacity, as in BURST?

If so, does the dev-team consider this would be advantageous to DGB, or that it would make no significant difference?

The reason I ask is that the low power usage of PoC might appeal to a lot of people.  It may also contribute greatly to DGB's node count, as lots of people have spare disc capacity to contribute to the network.

While the burst idea is not bad I would rather see it standard mineable. Xevan &/or timetravel10 (bitcore) would be good algos... (nist5 or tribus could probably be made ASIC easily if skein is now going to be ASIC)

yeah, this is the problem for atlcoins, there is no justice  .

The amount of profitability pools converting coins straight to bitcoin is a big cause of this problem for now. Everyone wants bitcoin ready for the big fork. Just hold tight

I know your not a big fan but I would like to see one of the Algos swapped out for POS. More incentive to keep wallets online and more incentive to hold coins as well.

The other one I would like to see would be Equihash.  It has a big user base so lots of miners ready to go.

Also as already has been said timetravel10 (bitcore) would be another good one.

x17 looks like good algo too. tribus is interesting, there is just 1 coin at this algo, as i remember.

When replacing an algo you should definitely think of the one of Burst's. Cheaper and better decentralization. Bitcoin is expensive to mine and hardly decentralized. Its not a means of payment anymore. Go different way.

There is some good news, Digibyte will be listed on Kucoin this coming Monday 6th November.
