Expect a dump? Charting 101. You'll lose the train buddy.

The gain was from the Citi/Minecraft hype. It wasn't based on any hard data. I would be very careful trying to analyze a chart that was the result of user-enabled hype. I like DGB, I think its a good coin, but it needs to be analyzed during a period of "business as usual", not a possible anomaly.

That's like saying BTC chart from 2013 to 2014 doesn't mean anything. Detach yourself from relating charts to news events only or you'll never buy low with this mindset.

Usually when a coin goes up dramatically in value, it is from a news event, right? New masternode system or new partnership. Usually those things are confirmed after implementation. The rise from DGB was speculative based on news they were in a competition and rumor that they had a Minecraft deal with Microsoft. You have to follow the news first, then guage sentiment.

There is not a single price rise that is not speculative, every market is speculative. The price doesn't necessarily reflects the value of the tech. A big part of the crypto market since the ETH ICO implementation started is based on insider pump using devious news. A good example of this is IOTA. Sometimes people find out it's fake and sometimes they don't. The fact is that the majority of coins created since the half of this year aren't worth their current prices. If you look the majority of ICO coins charts they show a move similar to BTC which is completely counter intuitive since the old well established and developed altcoins went on a downtrend since the half of this year.

Buying the bottom will never fail for these old coins, you can spread your capital through all the old altcoins and hold until next year and your capital will increase by 10x at least. Now, if you put your money on these ICOs and wait a year, you'll probably lose it all.

Hopefully Digibyte will be added to coinbase next year. Supposedly coinbase confirmed they will add a few more altcoins and I know the PR people at Digibyte have been requesting to be added for a long while now. A direct dgb to usd market would do wonders for our marketcap.

A UTXO is an unspent transaction output. In an accepted transaction in a valid blockchain payment system (such as Bitcoin, Bcash, Litecoin, Digibyte), only unspent outputs can be used as inputs to a transaction. When a transaction takes place, inputs are deleted and outputs are created as new UTXOs that may then be consumed in future transactions.

In the Bitcoin network, which uses this model, a UTXO is the amount that is transferred to a Bitcoin address (along with information required to unlock the output amount*) during a transaction. Received amounts (UTXOs) are used individually during a transaction and new outputs are created – one for the receiver and, if applicable, one for the amount that is left over (change output). The amount sent to the recipient becomes a new UTXO in the recipient’s address while the change output becomes a new UTXO in the sender’s address that may be used in a future transaction.

I see you are the only one who does not complain about the price but thinks about the future and I like the way you say it
because i know what i do and what coin i follow, im not long with digibyte try trade nov 2014 with zero knowledge, and find bitcointalk on may 2015, try to find out what is this coin, what dev will be doing, is promise delivery or not, that is reason im positive about digibyte future. as long as bitcoin stroong from USD that is good, because digibyte wil do correction price after bullrun

Greetings, friends at Digibyte!

As Komodo Platform has been working around the clock to fine-tune the multiple GUI's that are the face of our Agama multiwallet and BarterDEX atomic swap protocols, there have obviously been many bugs found and many debugged. However, one bug in particular was found not only in our Agama GUI wallet, but also in the zcash4mac GUI swing wallet. It is a simple bug, but it warrants your attention. This is a potential money cost bug, and as a Bitcoin-protocol cryptocurrency, your GUI wallet(s) may be susceptible. We are reaching out directly to the developers and communities of the 60+ coins featured on Agama and BarterDEX as the bug may have a direct impact on you (via your own wallet).

watchonly-GUI bug: 'watchonly' addresses appearing as your own in GUI wallet; users could potentially send funds to the address, unaware it is not theirs or available for withdrawal. You can import <any address> and it becomes a 'watchonly' address. The GUI will display the address as yours, add its funds to your balance, and accept deposits, but cannot be withdrawn. This could be a normal address, my address, a p2sh address, satoshi's address, etc. This can be confusing to an end-user and will lead to many headaches for the developer, as is always the case with misplaced funds.

FOUND: in Komodo Platform's Agama multiwallet (fixed) and zcash4mac GUI swing wallet (@jl777B: "newest QT wallet seems ok about watch only, but not sure of older and when it was fixed")

ex. @grewalsatinder found the bug in his zcash swing wallet: https://i.imgur.com/sVd0QTL.png

Quote from: jl777B
"satinder used zcash4mac, ie. the zcash osx GUI, not ours... the assumption is no GUI out there properly handles watch only addresses, until proven that they do... agama also had this bug, which we found and fixed, so it seems a very common bug to have"

SOLUTION: For the 'watchonly' address or any address not yours, the value 'ismine' returns false. Any such address gets filtered out.

QUESTIONS:
  • How does your recommended GUI deal with watchonly addresses?
  • Does your GUI display watchonly addresses as different than actual addresses in the wallet?

We need to experiment a bit to see which approach gets a better response triggering the bug. People WILL lose money if they send funds to a watchonly address.

Quote from: jl777B
"the t3 addresses in the 'Own Addresses' column! and they absolutely cant be as they are p2sh addresses. it is clear proof that the bug is very real and anybody that understands a p2sh address will understand it cant be something in your wallet. it is usually a multisig address, so only if it is a 1of1 multisig (possible but very silly) can you have a p2sh address that is spendable, but the wallet wont even know it... normal addresses can also be watchonly, which makes this even worse. in that case it would appear in the list of addresses just like all the others. even if you are able to spot p2sh addresses visually, it wont be enough"

We want to spread awareness and facilitate discussion of this bug to minimize the impact.

Of course - we can always talk about how you can use BarterDEX today to trade Digibyte via atomic swap directly with your peers, through our beta GUI and without downloading the entire blockchain ; ) That is how we found the bug, afterall.

Stay safe,
Jay

For mainstream adoption for payments the most important thing is speed and digibyte has better speed than most of the altcoins.

This is very true. For any crypto to be able to become widely accepted it needs to function with the same speed and convenience of a credit card. DGB is one of the few coins out there that is even close to being fast enough for that to happen.

The thing is DGB still has the problem of scaling. We don't know how the network will behave upon big adoption, or network attacks.

For now, DGB is the best coin for commerce.

what is digibyte scaling problem?

DigiByte has introduced special code that doubles block size every two years to scale the amount of transactions the network can handle well into the year 2035. Additonal work is underway to further increase transaction speed and network capacity.
Year 2016: 280 Transactions Per Second
Year 2017: 560 Transactions Per Second
Year 2019: 1,120 Transactions Per Second
Year 2021: 2,240 Transactions Per Second
Year 2035: 280,000+ Transactions Per Second

are you find another crypto like this code? without add forks, digibyte has ability since beginning

is network attack? dont you find many time share about this?

DigiByte on one of five seperate mining algorithms. Each algo averages out to mine 20% of new blocks. This allows for much greater decentraliztion than other blockchains. In order for an attacker to hardfork DigiByte the attacker would need to control 93% of the hashrate on 1 algo, and 51% of the other 4 making DigiByte much more secure against PoW attacks than other blockchains.

so, what is digibyte problem?

Guys, my local QT wallet can't find any peers. I am using the newest client. Is there a list of peers I can add or is anyone else having this problem? Last time I started the client was 10/8/2017.
