WARNING!!! There may be a POTENTIAL scam site with a DASH online wallet.  Not certain if this is true...but use extreme caution as I am sure this is not a AUTHORIZED DASH product.

Evan, check your PMs and sign onto Dashtalk!

Fixed! It wasn't a fork, this was due to something with masternodes and multisig donations. The reference node is just going to ignore those, so we shouldn't have issues anymore. We just got 3 blocks in the last couple of minutes, everything is ok.

What is a reference node?

It's the interim node that allows us to make super fast progress. Basically we make proof-of-concept systems using it, if they work we keep them. Once they're stable we remove them from the reference nodes responsibilities. It's why we're a year old and have built 3 years worth of technology. For example, if we weren't using the reference node currently, the blockchain would have been stuck until tomorrow. Everyone would need to update...etc

So it allows you to run a testnet of sorts on a small segment of your production network?

OK, so tell me what is the exact issue with DASH at the moment?
really, tell me...

When XMR had problems in the past, I joined the dev IRC channel and I was informed immediatly and could follow the fix when it was happening.
The MRL paper explained it in detail and by the way... The consensus system of monero even prevented double spends...

Trying to spread FUD!

Ok, I'm going to get in trouble for answering you, but hey I'm out for the night...So for the peanut gallery, there is no issue with DASH at the moment, its been fixed. We've had several hic ups through our extensive development in the past in which there always lots of immediate discussion on IRC, and DASHtalk.  So your not so special pal...not going to fall for ignorant statements.  You haven't been here for a nearly a year and half as I have and I can speak with authority on this.  There is ALWAYS quick timely responses to technical issues...with lots of open discussion.  So go back to your low tech coin thread and stopping being a classless FUDDSTER!

dnaleor..these are the guys you are dealing with  Wink

no.

i left because i disagree darkcoin or however it will be called next year is not a decentralized entity. it never was but i ignored it as long as darkcoin was following the same path i was following. the path to total financial privacy. and thats why i am so upset about how this currency is lead by a single person. darkcoin is like an old conservative company with strong hierarchical comamnd structures and a single person on the top of the pyramid. evan duffield. the rebranding using a detergent name was just a step forward in creating something like apple or paypal. fuck this i tell you. what we need is a trustless, decentralized and anonymous currency. darkcoin is not decentralized as it still relies on a single person. and this reaches deep into the code base.

the core devs were just a bunch of volunteers exploited for the big thing. the extended darkcoin team was the same with even a lower place to sit on that pyramid. and what was the darkcoin foundation again? right, something to reserve some rights on some names and collect money. who nominated and voted for the foundation board? who does even know who are these guys? how did we learn about the foundation? from local news papers! the team listings kept counting names of people nobody ever noticed before. and they never committed anything visible to the community or the repository. and i was spending 25 hours a day monitory everything that happened in the darkcoin community for more than a year. the things going on here are fishy, intransparent and rely on a single entity.

i will get out and and will contribute to something decentralized and anonymous. i always hoped darkcoin could fill that void. i cant blame anyone to stay with this project. you are probably investors trying to win a gold donkey. or you are simply trying to exploit every possible vector of profit in the coins space. whatever. you are not here because darkcoin is something it claims to be.

if you disagree with my statement above, i dont care, but answer that simple question: what if evan duffield suddenly announces he quits the project tomorrow morning?

good luck

This is a very interesting article highlighting the risks of being a successful entrepreneur in China if you fail to understand and play by "the rules". For all the flaws of western democracy (and there's a plethora of them), this really does give some sense of how dark the world of an individual can be when they're seen to be taking on the Chinese communist ruling elite by not lining the pockets of the powerful who are accustomed to their cut. The depravity and injustices involved appear to be endless and, as the article points out, make a mockery of the notion some people hold that suggests China operates within any sort of common-law framework (as it clearly doesn't).

What? What you're describing isn't privacy, so you went from being a supporter of privacy to a now supporter of total transparency? If I were to give you a $20 bill, will you be able to see who previously had that $20 bill? So then why would you not want the same thing for crtypcurrencies?

No, he's saying the only way to know that the cryptocurrency is real and spendable is because of the transparent blockchain that everyone agrees on to confirm the existence (and by extension, value) of it.

The $20 is not a good analogy because it actually has a central issuing authority.  But if you absolutely had to compare, you could loosely compare the fact that you can hold that $20 bill in your hand and examine it and see that it looks like every other one, and everyone else agrees that it is $20 when they see it, and they accept that it has the value of $20.

Nobody here is advocating the ability to see "who" had it previously.  That would not be anonymous. That would be bitcoin.

Quote from: Joshuar
Cryptocurrencies are supposed to be decentralized and not have to rely on a centralized authority to make decisions or oversee things, you saying that we need an arbiter is taking a step back towards the traditional banking/monetary system, which is what we(everyone or mostly everyone involved with Bitcoin/cryptos) are against.

No argument there.  Again, that is what the transparent blockchain is for.   Non-fakeable agreement by majority, not by a central authority.

He's making the assumption that a coin's value is somehow tired to it's transparency. Every transaction that happens in the blockchain isn't "agreed" on or overseen by everyone involved with bitcoin, it's a automated process(Which is what protects against forking/exploiting bitcoin besides the 51% attack, etc), so his comment about how a coin must somehow be transparent to have value, is truly illogical. You don't need a transparent blockchain to assign value to coins, it's perfectly done on a private blockchain(even better), because each coin in the eyes of an onlooker, the same as the other(Fungibility) and there's no room to "discriminate" against coins based on their transaction history like in an transparent blockchain. So his case about "invisible" coins and etc has no bearing here, the only situation where the entire blockchain and everything involved with it is totally out from view, or "invisible" is Zerocash, the points that he's made so far has no bearing against the Cryptonote/Ring Sig anon scheme.
