he just continues to argue many false points while subtly changing the wording to fit his favor.
To clarify, I was highlighting the distinction between: [1] encryption and [2] digital signatures I cited a presentation where Vitalic Buterin stated categorically that there was no "encryption" in cryptocurrencies - rather they work use hashes and digital signatures (in Dash, blind signatures). I wrongly paraphrased his statement as saying "there is no cryptography in cryptocurrencies" instead of "there is no encryption in cryptocurrencies". A few posts later, I corrected myself and acknowledged the misquote, at which point I got (predictably) lambasted for being clueless about cryptography (Digital signatures and encryption are different branches of the more general term 'cryptography'). Here's the clip so judge for yourself the gravity of my misquote. In fact when Vitalik asks "anyone see what's wrong with that title", an audience member answers "cryptography" and Vitalik replies "Yes", however the more specific branch thats relevant is encryption. Here's the clip (You need the sound up): https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=zgkmQ-jQJHk#t=302

... ...This is not trolling. This is a coordinated exist strategy and its aimed at finding easy to persuade people in the DASH thread and making them future Monero bag holders when they all exist. Sitting on XMR is a mistake because there are way too many open vectors in what even the lead developer "smooth" has labeled as alpha software. Placing large sums of any form of money in alpha software and expecting it to be secure is just plain foolish.
If you do so then ask yourself, am I feeling lucky?.
I agree with you, and I'm not being misquoted here. But let's be real here, the entire market cap is like 5.5 million USD. That just isn't "large sums of money" when divided among a large number of participants. Its a very low speculative value fairly consistent with the risks involved balanced against what might be significant upside if the risks can be overcome. Of course what is large to one person is small to another. Certainly no one should invest more than he or she can afford to lose in any speculative investment, and that includes not only any altcoin but any cryptocoin at all, in my view. Wow, Smooth agrees that keeping any large sum of value is not safe because xmr is alpha. I was holding 540 xmr but will dump it asap. I got to admit I never expected this open admission from the xmr team. In the same post bcx talks about other exploits which again smooth doe not dispute. -snip-
If you buy it you are making a bet on whether or not that happens. Simple as that. You don't buy XMR because you want to use it to buy a pack of gum at your local convenience store. It's 100% speculative. Decide how you want to bet, and bet, or don't bet.
... Don't you fear that you are going to be ignored by Moronos and called a troll? Man, you're so brave I don't think so. Spreading monero FUD on darkcoin thread? So cowardly if you ask me lol More like convincing drk dumpers to buy back

Introducing: 1 Dashcoin equals 6 USD:Currently the shop price has been set to 1 Dashcoin = 6 USD. (Cryptsy’s exchange rate = 4,3 USD) We will always give you 40% more for 1 Dashcoin than the rated cryptsy exchange. Our webshop will auto update to Cryptsy’s market id: 155 (+40% more worth in our webshop) Just a thought, but could this be the telltale heart? Dashcoin? It's quite possible that this site was made by a disgruntled Dashcoiner trying to get back at the community for it's "injustices". That would be the best troll, after all... This reeks right now, I wouldn't touch it with a 38.5 foot pole!you need to borrow a 40'er? lol you copycats created confusion in the market, found new ways to come clean? if it is a scam it's from dashcoin? if it's legit its DASH/darkcoin..you can shove your poles up your asses

Dash is 27.3 times faster with syncing and updating than Bitcoin and 93.7 times faster than Monero. Bitcoin (v0.11.0) has a Tao ratio 11.2% faster than bitcoin (v0.10.0) release. Dash (v.0.12.0.49) = Tao sync ratio = 0.15 seconds / hour of update || Dash (v.0.11.2.23) = Tao sync ratio = 0.24 seconds / hour of update. V12 versus V11 speedup = +36.5% Bitcoin (v.0.11.0) = Tao sync ratio = 4.14 seconds / hour of update || Monero (v.0.41.1) = Tao sync ratio = 14.2 seconds / hour of update

Thank you, hopefully you can also tell him that cryptography is prominently used in cryptocurrencies.
Again, I did not participate in the original discussion, so I don't know exactly what toknormal said. One thing I am sure of it that he is one sound analyst and has an extremely sharp and proven sense of the market. cryptography as a verb, adjective or noun? One thing is cryptographic practice, the other is cryptographic properties, the other cryptography principles. Three entirely different concepts subject to interpretation. You can go through my posting history to show you exactly what he said(It was entirely wrong, even gmaxwell corrected him). He said crytography, so we can only assume it was in general and encompassed all that you've listed. Not doubting his analysis skills, he just continues to argue many false points while subtly changing the wording to fit his favor. I don't know what it is about you Monero people, but you just can't stop coming here to this thread and arguing. Toknormal is a highly respected member of this community. He's not a dev but has a sound overall understanding of the different architectures and technology configurations found in crypto and how that's relevant to the economics/practicality of adoption/real-world-usage. Your statements that he is clueless are offensive and WRONG. You're just like so many of the Monero people that continually post in this thread, you're pedantic and desperately looking for opportunities to "catch out" individuals you're engaging with so you can trumpet how ignorant they are and how much more knowledgeable you are. It is so immature and so lame. We know that most of you don't like (actually let me rewrite that "detest") DRK/Dash and everything about this project, all of which gets right up your noses. The mature and reasonable thing to do would be to just say to yourself "each to their own" and leave us be in our "ignorance" and "cluelessness" so you can focus on your own crypto project's success. But no....alas....you (and a whole lot of others) just HAVE TO come here and argue with us and treat everyone here with disdain. Really.....it's beyond pathetic.

Yep - Monero trolls are still recruiting more fools who are easily parted with their money. Love the way they have 2.2 million more coins than DASH despite launching 3 months after One born every minute, that's the Monero moto and bedtime prayer.

Can anyone explain why when I closed the Monero wallet last time it as 216 days behind and when I opened it today it is 314 days behind? This is playing havoc with working out the Tao Ratio, the thing is going backwards Perhaps it has some kind of fancy blockchain time travel ability that helps it avoid detection in real space, now that would be really clever

Anybody have a reddit acct? Seems like they could use some education. EDIT ---------- dashication. I am honored your highness.
That's nice. What exactly are you going to teach BTC coredev Peter Todd about crypto? How exactly do you propose to educate dashicate him? Oddly enough, right below that you see this. like a cash isn't it? cryptonotes dashcoin is the original dash (digital cash)

Then this would fruitful grounds for those doing human profiling on what must certainly be red flags for those that would easily become psychopaths. It's truly alarming that these individuals are ratcheting up their rhetoric. This poses a potential danger for members of this thread, their own families and society in general. Very worrisome and very sad.....
