Dash: Filling the gaps in the Bitcoin protocol through an enhanced incentive mechanism and decentralized governance. (Please read)

A very well thought through post Minotaur. Thanks for taking (what would no doubt have been) considerable time to articulate these key points so clearly. You're a big asset to Dash.

p2pool is broken!

Nodes are broken that do not include this patch:
https://github.com/darkcoin/p2pool-drk/pull/8

Nodes are building blocks with version number 2, but they are being rejected because the daemon is expecting version 3.

Only 1 out of the last 13 p2pool blocks found was accepted (from a node that added this patch).

See http://explorer.darkcoin.io/block/0000000000042766657a517c4c9491d6212df5b595e9b86769689da6d49c1bc5

This is the block right before a block was found (and rejected) by p2pool. You can see that there are 2 "next blocks" one at version 2 (rejected) and one at version 3 (accepted)

jakehaas, so we can update IDENTIFIER and PREFIX.
To remove those who are not updated.

Code:
IDENTIFIER='7242ef345e1bed6b'.decode('hex'),
PREFIX='3b3e1286f446b891'.decode('hex'),
BOOTSTRAP_ADDRS='eu.p2pool.pl'.split(' '),

or just wait.

Well Monero is fucked for right now........XMR transactions being de-anonymized by the chain-radar blockchain
[sigh].... I thought some ideas there were very cool and showed promise...If you want ring sigs I guess shadow is best bet now

I don't want to feast on any project's issues, but one good thing about all that drama is that they seem to have more important things in their minds than spamming and advertising in DASH thread for now.

"...face to face transactions making crypto more suitable for real world adoption."

For this to happen we need mobile wallets with instantX. I believe this should get higher priority than other features implementation like 2FA.

Great text!!

I agree, but with 2FA hopefully not too far behind.

Maybe the decentralised web wallet could work with a mobile interface too.

Guys, sorry to ruin your feast, but the chainradar thing is fake, i.e. guessing, and not doing a very good job of it.

Premise

ChainRadar has suddenly started displaying a "From Transaction" value for transactions with a ring signature. By making a series of test transactions and then putting simplewallet into RPC mode, those "From Transaction" values can be scraped from ChainRadar and then checked against the transaction IDs of your spent outputs. If it is correct then the transaction will appear in your spent outputs, although there is something of a chance of a false positive. For large test samples in large wallets I would expect to see anything up to 5% false positives.

Results

I tested 19 transactions, some mixin 4 and some mixin 20 (excluding my own signature, so mixin 5 and 21 according to ChainRadar).

For these transactions none of them were completely compromised by ChainRadar, and ChainRadar got 0 out of 157 guesses correct, not even an accidentally correct guess or a false positive. Absolutely zero.

Click through for more details and the actual code behind the analysis.

LOL. mixin=0 is not supposed to be untraceable. It's just like a regular Bitcoin transaction.

Won't increasing the mixin make your bloating problems even worse than they are now?

"Bloating problems" implies that the usage is wasteful which it is not given the goal of private transactions. The same applies to darksend transactions, especially given the use of denominations (same as Monero; in fact with a higher "bloating" factor in general since fewer denominations are allowed), with multiple rounds being done (not needed in Monero), or even just the network traffic of talking to masternodes to set up the darksends. None of it is cost-free but the cost is being incurred to accomplish a purpose, not waste.

I mean we have Monero full node running on a Raspberry Pi at this point (experimental build still) so I think its pretty silly to go on and on about bloat.

From what I read, it seems like you are under the impression that Darksend rounds happen on the Dash Blockchain, this is a misconception.

We record all minutes and revisit them at the beginning of each foundation meeting to ensure the prior meeting accounts are acurate.
Can you please explain your role on the foundation board and how you came to obtain the position?
