Looks like the market stared down the abyss and decided to leave it for another day. We were only $9 away from last year's all time high - perfect technicals which may indicate a long term trend reversal.

I don't understand this 6h long almost no trade period in this 12h chart. Did the Bitstamp market really reduced to one whale? And when he/she goes to sleep, the entire market goes to standstill? lol

Yeah - I wondered about that as well. It kind of looks like one of the trading wonders of the world.

If you look closely though, you can actually see trading activity during the period of the wall presence. On reading BTCe trollbox archive, it looks like the wall actually got bought as opposed to removed which is incredibly bullish if you ask me. It's starting to look like the market has absolutely no appetite for going much below 300 no matter what nuclear powered manipulation tactics are played.

At this price, more people are worried about loosing their chance to enter the market than missing out on a bargain it seems.

My idea is to show a binary  grid or something that is explored from various services (BTC)
a second layer shows another grid (dark, fast, foggy) that is surrounded and protected by masternodes.

Okay, several people in this thread asked me to do power tests, and I finally got around to it. Unlike my first Kill-A-Watt, this one hasn't melted... yet. I used a slightly older version, cause I'm in the middle of a rewrite for one hash.

For the people who just don't give a fuck about the details and want the results, here: 12.84% more power for 34.34% more hash overall. You can stop reading now.

For the rest of you, the system has a 270X, 280X, 290X, and 7950, all at stock voltages. All power draw measurements were done at the wall.

Power draw at idle - that is, after I booted it and let it sit for 5 - 10 minutes - is 123W.
Running the stock SGMiner 5 from GitHub (commit e481d67e59ad60edc69c026617219f8fae9d6c6e), the hashrate over all cards used was 16.60MH/s while pulling 740W from the wall.
Using the exact same miner code, cloned to a different folder to prevent mistakes, with my OpenCL, the hashrate was 22.30MH/s, using 835W in the process.

The configuration used for both tests follows - the GPUs, in order, are 270X, 290X, 7950, and 280X.

My earlier estimates were based off of the hashrate of Hawaii (my 290X) only - seeing this average increase motivates me to do more of the time-consuming, difficult, aggressive optimizations rather than looking for more low-hanging fruit. Power use was also slightly higher than I expected - while I anticipated maybe 8% - 9%, it's actually nearly 13%. While that doesn't make the speed increase not worth it - nowhere near - it still could use some more experimentation and work.

Are you going to be releasing any optimizations for us small miners? I would throw a couple dark your way to be able to squeeze more hash out of my 290x's. Maybe we could get a bounty together for ya if some other guys would want to chip in.

I may, once I have finished some of the larger ones I'm working on, but that will take some time for me to complete.

I don't want to troll but X11 is really raped by FPGAs now. Small frys like us don't have chance to be profit @ X11 anymore.
