He is lying, it was my friend who dumped the coins yesterday, he got freaked out by the Mintpal fiasco and wanted out of crypto. I told him to calm down, but it didn't help.

Maybe if you had used a scouse accent? You didn't though did you? I reckon that could have saved him.

Well, I would have bet a masternode on him not having the DRK to dump but it looks like he is dumping for Ripple as he said. Whoever he is.  I believe that it is his loss.  No need to be a douche about it.

The only thing I didn't like was his uncouth behaviour.  DRK will rise back to its recent "stable zone" in a day or two imho.

I am sick of how long it takes BTC to confirm.  Then again, he is half way through his sale and the price hasn't been decimated Wink

I thought my explanation for selling was plain and simple. What imaginary "douche" and "uncouthness" can you possibly find in that?  That is my reason for selling nothing more nothing less.

No worries. Just dump the little you have left and hit the road.

What is more revealing is that all these big mouths here couldn't even gobble up the fire-sale when it was happening. All posers I would conclude. Loud mouth know it all nothings. With zero dollars and zero DRK in their pockets. Could not even grab a piddly 5000 DRK on a fire sale for all their talk and bravado. Now it will sit there until I decide what to do with the remainder. How about that. I decide. Me. What to do with my DRK coins.

Firstly, you outlined the final straw of why you are dumping DRK and nothing more.  That is not plain and simple.  I'd be interested to know what your other reasons are.

Secondly, let me quote one of your posts:

" Along with that clown that surfaces every 5 minutes with his nonsense twitter account spam"

This is uncouth.  The gentleman behind that twitter account is working hard for something he believes in and a large portion of the DRK community are grateful to him for it.  He invests a lot of time and effort into this coin because he holds a belief that you do not hold yourself.  You called him a clown.  That is not particularly respectful or polite.  I personally feel that an apology is due.

I called you an imaginary whale because you seem to think that dumping 15k DRK is a big thing.  Take a look at some of the wallets out there.  Get some perspective.  I apologise to you if you feel that I was disrespectful to you.

Good luck with Ripple.

Sadly I am stuck on 2/3 confirmations on BTC.  I was caught a little on the hop.

EDIT: And then I realised I had to buy Ripple which is not something I am willing to do at this time.  Perhaps in about 1 month's time.

The only thing I didn't like was his uncouth behaviour.  DRK will rise back to its recent "stable zone" in a day or two imho.

I was a staunch believer in Darkcoin - and most assuredly I still am a believer in its tech superiority - mostly because of Evan and the community that is really great.

Alas, I also prefer to see profit over the loss. So, once Bitcoin has fallen below $300.00 I decided to go 50% - 50% DRK vs. BTC (I purchased enough Darkcoins below 0.005 to make a sell with the profit) and am now very happy with my ongoing profit on Bitcoin.

I will stay in Darkcoin for principal reasons. But I will never make a mistake of getting too emotionally involved with the idea (I was 100% in Darkcoin) that might not survive. The sheeple are a bunch of idiots and they flock together. Bitcoin is an ideal tool for the Overlords (being, basically transparent) and I am positive it would end up being a mainstream currency, accepted, adopted and corrupted by the Financial Crime Cartel, this way or another.

When I initially analyzed Darkcoins monetary value I came up to this formula:

* 22.67% of the world's economy is shadow economy;
* if Bitcoin is (controlled) and DRK not; if 100% of all legal transactions are made in BTC, 22.67% are still left for DRK

* on May 29, 2014, DRK = $10.96 vs. BTC = $614.38
* on May 29, 2014 DRK / BTC 0.01811
* on May 29, 2014 BTC MC is $7,885,362,984
* on May 29, 2014 DRK MC is $47,580,747
* DRK / BTC MC ratio is >>> 0.603405919   ( on May 29, 2014)
* if DRK goes to parity of 1 DRK = 1 BTC, DRK MC would be    2667567714
* 1 DRK = 1 BRC gives DRK MC of >>> 33.82923029   % of the BTC MC

* 22.67% shadow economy vs. 33.83% max MC ratio ~ some DRK = 0.80 BTC is kind of a max value for DRK  Wink

So I still believe there's a possibility for Darkcoin to survive and thrive and if I am going to make money in the future, in crypto, on FOREX, working, inheriting (yeah, right) I will increase my DRK position, but for now on I will focus on having only 25% of my portfolio in Darkcoin.

I'd rather buy more at $15 ++ in the future than at $1.93 today. Why's that? Because at $15 it would've been confirmed that Darkcoin adoption may have a chance. Today it is too risky.

But, at 50% - 50% I already feel better Smiley

Good luck everyone. Just my 2 cents. Shrug them at will.

No. To me that individual comes across as a clown. It is the combination of him and the lottery spammer that triggered it for me. As soon as there is interesting technical discussion going on those two appear in the middle of it all bumping their nonsense and posting the same garbage. If you care to look it is memorialized in black and white on this forum. While everyone is discussing a good technical discussion uninterrupted, those two see fit to inject their b.s. right in the middle of the discussion. This happens on all forums everywhere. Self serving selfish pigs as soon as they see action and discussion insert themselves to grab the available eyeballs. Every time the twitter clown posts I picture him in a top hat with a walking cane in his hand shrieking 'step right in...'. Sorry I cannot be a part of this circus anymore. And that unfortunately is the direction it is heading to. From a technically stand-out coin with zero direction to goofballs surfacing to promote it. Wrong direction in my view.  Sad

wow. sorry to make you change your mind about DRK (didn't think I had that kind of impact).

I am not a con man and the reason I have been bumping the lotto on this thread is to get the tickets sold so I can pick the winners and payout. As for the DRK I make from the lotto site...I said I will use it all for bounties to improve the coin! I am not making a penny from the lotto site...but i do plan to add some ads so I do earn a little from the domain.

Now for the USA road trip topic, I am going to drive over 5,000 miles in the spring of 2015 and I am doing it just to promote bitcoin across america and (because I am a new DRK supporter) I was thinking of promoting DRK as well on my travels. I have done this trip before but I plan to hit places I have never been before and I have no family keeping me tied to one location and this is why I am able to do a trip like this.

I am accepting donations because a trip like that costs allot of money (money i don't have) but I do have the time and the willingness to do such a big trip.

I know many people will not take me serious at first but that's why I am planing the start the road trip in the spring of 2015.

all in all, I am sorry if you guys don't like the lottery but I give you my word that it is 100% honest and all money made will be used for bounties to improve the coin.

And I have to keep promoting the lottery so we can sell more tickets and get to pick the winners.

I am just trying to help DRK not hurt DRK.

Dont be sorry he was never a DRK supporter to start with. This is the most ridiculous reason to come across selling that many coins, yesterday he did not sell, only today.  And now he is loading up on the xrp scam a useless coin which is not needed to use the Ripple network. Ripple Labs is a company with 40 employees financed by the banks.

See, I had various, serious discussions with "that gentleman" on http://darkcointalk.org/ where I provided him with a bunch of suggestions regarding the best Twitter practices. (based on studies and researches about Twitter campaign's efficiency, not on my opinion)

He did not adopt a single one but kept spamming. I KNOW the people support that, I understand we like to see our beloved coin mentioned on Twitter, but compare "All" vs. "Top" results while searching for #darkcoin and you'll see how his twits disappear in the later. That tiny detail, of having one of the most vocal supporters of the coin I myself support (some of my friends followed my investments in DRK and ended up fully invested and quite unhappy thus far) acting not fully responsible, driven by the most noble feelings and fervor instead of reason, was yet another element that made me make a decision discussed several posts above.

Such a Twitter feed might, for some, look like a desperate attempt to promote something that is not of real value that grows on the merit of its quality. So, see, even someone I liked, whose efforts I tried to support was a part of the overall bad feeling about near-term Darkcoin price's future. (just the price, not the technology, with a worry over the image it projects)

But, even with 50% DRK 50% BTC I feel a tad better. And I will keep holding enough DRK to support it, to make a nice profit it goes up (and than I would NOT sell it, on the contrary) and if it goes below 0.0045 I will buy another bundle. So it is not that bad after all  Wink

Hey stoner hedger, I actually love any lotto.
And even more if its the first draw.
Its attractive and a painless loss if you don't win it.
It eventually calms my obsession to play.

The fact that a bo-peep sale of 9000 coins is able to move the market like it does is another problem, though.

dude, this is the bitcoinforum. Everybody knows (or should know.. specially large holders) that the real technical conversations
take place at the darkcointalk forum. The bitcointalk forum is mostly used as forum to talk about everything and nothing.. including
lots and lots of pics. Cant believe you got influenced by something that got posted on this specific forum.

edit : and yes, now darkcoin has offically been open-sourced there will be more and more emphasize on marketing Darkcoin .. in the background i'm
sure the Darkcoin team is busy with this (they did start the Darkcoin Foundation for a reason after all) but other users are starting to feel an urge
to do something about the marketing too. It may not look pretty or terribly efficient but its a start. I think we still have a lot to learn going from no marketing
towards a marketing phase. And then there is the Instant Transactions that recently got into a very early development.

Seeing as this is not a moderated forum, all kinds of crap can pop up. That's what the ignore button is for.
You should not let spam influence your investment decisions.
Over the last 3-4 years, if you had followed the daily trials of Bitcoin you would almost certainly have lost your investment by now.
The best strategy IMO is to load up on BTC, DRK, and XCP (1/3 each) and keep your coins in cold storage with treble backup on different media types. Evaluate your holdings once or twice a year.
If you have trouble stomaching volatility, consider rebalancing your holdings periodically against USD.
