But they might just as well get a payment at block 3000. If you're moving your MN's after each payment you will be at the mercy of the variance.
If I am reading things correctly, then while gaming the system, it shouldn't ever take your MN longer to be paid than the good actors *plus 15 blocks, but would have the chance of it taking significantly shorter(*at 1000MN, you could receive payment 985 blocks sooner.)

My understanding is that the first payment will take as many blocks as is needed until it hits the 1 in N chance. This could take 1 or 10000 blocks. After the first payment, it will take N blocks to get the next one.

Quote
Each new node has a 1 in N (total number of masternodes) chance of receiving a payment each block

Correct. However, I'm going to change it to the first payment requiring confirmations > masternodes*90%. So if there's 1000 masternodes a new node will have to wait 900 confirmations to be entered into the lottery. Then after that it'll be 1 of N. All future payments beyond that will be on a schedule with -10/+10% variance.

Confirmations to start a masternode will be 15. You just can't get paid until much later. It should provide a good mix of security and stability of payments.
I thought of a similar solution while I was walking my dog just now (coupling masternode count to confirmations to allow payment). Nice work. Smiley

there is still the question
how do you actually anonymize coins now and in the future !?

it is super hard to do right now (if you do not arrange another person to do it "with" you)
but that is already not really the perpuse (to arrange with others)
but now in the future if even more coins are off the market and tied up in MN's (and obviously these once in MN's will not be anonymised ) how do you you anonymize then ?

if i am some loaded HK kid dreaming of getting 100.000,-- US out of Switzerland,
well ... good luck to me (example) as just the anonymisations process will take me forever !!!
if even possible !
i think there is a real issue with the anonymisations and we should really talk about it one day !!!

I'm still here.

just dumped the balance @ 300 to get rid of this coin, soley based on you and that loquacious "twat" murmuring how busy he has been tp entertain the masses with his brilliance.

Should I dump a further 100,000 DRK HAL ?

Here is the most likely scenario as I see it:

  • 2 weeks ago, Moolah pulled down Mintpal with no effective warning (apart from 1 tweet on Moolah's twitter)
  • Shortly after, the largest wallet on cryptoid, being Mintpal at 430k DRK, went AWOL (https://chainz.cryptoid.info/drk/#!wallets)
  • The new Mintpal site is inexplicably defunct, even 2 weeks later many people's coins are missing (https://twitter.com/moolah_io/status/521471213063782400).
  • Our new friend (sciencerocket) shows up claiming to have a lot of DRK to sell and doesn't seem to care what price he sells at and is even warning people he is going to dump and offering proof of the dumps, and then complaining people are 'too cheap' to buy his dumped coins at firesale prices.

Conclusion:

I bet that _sciencerocket is Alex Green, Director/Owner of MooPay Ltd (his 'Cash Cow').  If this is true then he has stolen a large bulk of the Mintpal drk and is now trying to create demand to offload those DRK before the cat & mouse game is up on Mintpal when the users realise they are never getting their missing coins back...  he waited until DRK anonymity was working and the new Mintpal site was never supposed to work because it was just a pretext to execute this theft under the guise of an incompetent Mintpal site 'upgrade'.

Or else why would a dumper be so desperate to sell at any price unless these are stolen coins?

Just a theory...sciencerocket care to respond?

That would explain the dodgy linked-in profile... So how on earth does someone like that get the funds to buy MintPal?

The new generation have arrived and they brought their own currency...

ja but you still need an equal counterpart to anon with !?
even if it is just 50 DRK (worth 100K US) somebody still has to be out there with their 50 or 20 or 10 (but a huge amount) !
Even now, 50 (to our now price) are not the easiest to anon !?
Know what I mean ?
We really gotta look into that one day .....>

PS: i am SUPER Patient !

For all you people missing accounts/money on mintpal, check back today...both account and full balance has been restored. Pity the price has tanked...but I have to say...I'm just glad to get my coins back.

I was originally told mintpal was the place to go, now bitfinex...hope I have a better time there.

Keep checking, more people are reporting their coins are back. They did say that all accounts have been found and the audit returned the amount in each account...so they might not have gotten round to yours yet.

if you ever run into trouble with your walletpassphrase (encryption)
Dave just saved my wallet and me !
there was a misspelling in my passphrase (yes things happen)
and i was officially screwed, after trying for a day and a half i started searching the net and came across

www.walletrecoveryservices.com
20% Fee of Wallet if recovered !

there is a way if you use Python where you do not actually have to send your .dat file to him,
as I have no idea about Python and was too embraced to tell anybody about this, i send him my actual wallet.dat (with 1000 DRK !!!)
the deal is 20% recovery fee if dave can work it out !
And Kaboom, 24 hours later my wallet is decrypted, i receive 800 DRK
(eventually i buy the other 200 back to get my MN on the road) and everybody happy !

AMAZING !

Trust in this crypto world is a very specially word and seldomeley used
as we are all fighting FUD and Trolls and whatnot, but Dave is a standup guy
(as he could have had decrypted my wallet, kept the 1000 DRK, i would have never found out)
and i vouch for him anytime !

Hmm, interesting. Apart from outright theft, maybe the delay could have to do with them having disastrous losses due to trading with customer funds while 'upgrading' MP. Stalling due to gambling/doubling down on their bets and so on. Btw, if you want to publish your theories about it , this could be a good idea: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=817295.0

Another way of doing it would be to maintain a list of which nodes had been paid, and new nodes would not qualify for payment until all already-existing nodes had been paid. Evan's wait-for-mn-count-confirmations achieves the same thing with less overhead though.  Grin

No. To me that individual comes across as a clown. It is the combination of him and the lottery spammer that triggered it for me. As soon as there is interesting technical discussion going on those two appear in the middle of it all bumping their nonsense and posting the same garbage. If you care to look it is memorialized in black and white on this forum. While everyone is discussing a good technical discussion uninterrupted, those two see fit to inject their b.s. right in the middle of the discussion. This happens on all forums everywhere. Self serving selfish pigs as soon as they see action and discussion insert themselves to grab the available eyeballs. Every time the twitter clown posts I picture him in a top hat with a walking cane in his hand shrieking 'step right in...'. Sorry I cannot be a part of this circus anymore. And that unfortunately is the direction it is heading to. From a technically stand-out coin with zero direction to goofballs surfacing to promote it. Wrong direction in my view.  Sad

1st thing you do after funding a wallet - dumpprivkey! Print it out, keep it safe, tattoo it onto the tonsils of your pet assault crocodile, recover your balance easily even if all your wallet.dat backups get eaten by undead alien tentacle-horrors! Smiley

I am NOT retarted !
I have 4 backups and am double german paranoid on this !
I had a spelling mistake in the passphrase !
believe that ! Yes, think about it,
as you can not see what you actually type these things ( i guess) can happen !!
so tattoo it on your forehead,
but if you misspell it in the beginning that tattoo will not help you ether !
