We can all keep track of the 7,000,000 coins and I guess that Lolcust knows his coin is history if he rips us off.

The most horribly evil thing I could do without ruining Geist (and thus the Superfund, and the Laundry which I so dearly hope to create) is to sell off enough Geist to buy meself a keg of beer and hire a hooker (and get "investigated" for "suspicious buying patterns" by the honorible police of my glorible  president Smiley )

BTW, assuming Geist doesn't choke on blocks or something equally terrible, in less then a year  Superfund (the entire thing, both laundry and the bounty and the "small things") won't look that Super (it will still be somewhat  impressive, but given the upper bound for total number of Geists in the hundreds of billions and demonstrated capacity for sustained operation, not that zomghuge as it might seem now).

  I am thus mildly concerned that I have, in fact, premined too little a sum to get a decent laundry going Sad

Got a little creative and made this!
Applying for artwork bounty lol

Hm, if you "emboss" the "sorta-official Geistgeld logo" on it (You can see the small version in the background of windows bundle, file itself is in the Data/scripts folder of the bundle, but I can send a large-ish PNG if needed), I will part with about 500 Geists Smiley

Sorry, I just am somewhat less-than-rationally attached to the logo I've cobbled together from stuff and recycled stuff while waiting for the first build to compile ^__^

I can give it a try! Send the png pls?

Btw, my client says this on getinfo
 "errors" : "Warning: A majority of peers disagree with NTP time. Something is off here!"

And geistd shows a lot of ProcessBlock: ORPHAN BLOCK, prev=00000000f644a13bf23c

It seems to be due to many peers not bothering to do an ntp=1, and/or you managing to find yourself a "weird" ntp server for that particular request.

OKAY, ONCE AGAIN, EVERYBODY PLEASE DO NOT FORGET TO TURN ON NTP

ntp=1

must be in the config.

It would be nice to a official client with GUI. I may want this into the project I'm developing.

Well, at some point there will be a semi-final GUI (probably waaay after signing is implemented), though Crutches makes for a bearable GUI replacement (and versatile in terms of easily implementing a "tab+batch" for the more unwieldy or just exotic functions, see Escrow tabs, for example)

I will make a Crutches for Namecoin after the whole "upcoming storm" thing resolves one way or another.

Nifty, though I already sent you the bigger one.

I liked the first one color scheme more, and TBH the thing in the center is supposed to be the pupil so perhaps you could filter it differently ? (Am I being to nitpicky for 500 geists lol Smiley ? )

Hmm so what is the actual full hacked bitcoin.conf that actually makes this work?
(or in my case gg.conf)

As usual I'll never trust someone else's executable, so I grabbed the git and then modified all the 'bitcoin' words in there to 'gg'
(... slack ... lazy ... why didn't you change that in the first place? Or should I be looking closely at the code that access the .bitcoin directory???)

... and added my 'usual' modifications that work on all the other chains ...

... and then even added these changes:
ntp=1
testnet=1
enablefullretargetperiod=1

and I still get a 99 block chain that matches the first 99 block of bitcoin ...

Any hints?

How fast were the block rate and retargets on this chain again?

Just a thought: At the current rate of 15 second blocks and 7 coins per block the entire network will generate an additional 7,000,000 coins in something like 178 days.

With all of the other chains it never took that long to create the bounty sum total.

Just saying it might seem that 7million was waay overkill in terms of diluting the market value if an exchange does come up.

Don't forget that no less than 4 mils are intended to rest forever as buffer in a laundry. Speaking of which, I am getting opinions ranging from "with 4 mils you could launder entire Silk Road (fuck yeah!)" to "with mere 4 mils you will have to resort to laundering 1000-10000 BTC per cycle at most, probably less,  should have gone for 1 bil buffer (awwww Cry )" (But if I did go for such a sum, I would have had to change my username to Lolbernanke and that doesn't have the same ring to it)

And cryptocoin exchanges show zero care about "hoarded" sums as long as the hoarder isn't selling off (which is the stupidest thing to do with such a large load of them), according to some folks I asked

One of the reasons I am generally avoidant of the whole discussion is because it quickly turns into "is x mil too small for a laundry buffer in a 'non-deflationary' coin" which, as I have learned, is a pretty infinite thing to discuss (so I just picked a number that seemed "good enuff" and proceeded to figure out a way to get it without having the net to carry extra blocks)

How fast were the block rate and retargets on this chain again?

1 block per 15 seconds, retarget every 16 blocks.

Lowered retarget limit to avoid large "jitter" of difficulty (works neat, so far)

No imposed upper limit on overall number of geist in circulation

Escrow enabled and working

Nonstandard tx enabled, so if you have That Genius Script Idea, you're welcome.

What exactly would a nonstandard tx look like or be used for?

Cunning and complicated things that allow for doing unusual stuff like Escrow (when 2 or more parties have to sign a transaction to decide who would eventually get them moneys) or somesuch.

One of the most attractive, to me, was Gavin's hidden transactions, but it turns out it's not workable for now (I can't help wondering if amendments can be made to make it work without thoroughly ruining things and opening a large can of worms, it is/was such an awesome little thing...hm...food for thought Wink)

The hidden transactions, or rather their tragic demise (at least for now, until   somebody maybe-hopefully finds a way to bring them back to life in Geist Smiley ) were discussed in this very thread, starting here  https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=42417.msg521460#msg521460

things like authority-based validation (and in-validation) of small-time transactions, and who knows what else (Definitely not me, lol) might be possible.

In general, it seems like a tower of awesome, though not without risks (I decided that Geist might as well take the risks, since we already have one very careful, very robust coin called Bitcoin Wink )

Thanks for the announcement and sorry but I'm going to fight against this getting an exchange before the other coins are fixed. I would hate to see bitcoinexpress who was an early adopter of geist geld profit from his actions.
