The information at allchain seems to indicate that GG is the second most mined coin, wonder how long will it maintain this position or any chance of overtaking bitcoin which is extremely far ahead.
There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, which will follow the rules of the network no matter what miners do. Even if every miner decided to create 1000 bitcoins per block, full nodes would stick to the rules and reject those blocks.

2nd most mined?  how do you calculate that?  Are you going by the number block it is on?  I think that's not a measure of "most mined."  I think "most mined" means has cummulatively had the most hashing power allocated to it.

For that, you need to include the target rate at which a block is solved.

BTC is every 10min
Solid coin is every 3min
Ix & I0 & nmc are 10min?
gg is 15 seconds?

Once you adjust the block count to be on a constant interval, then you'll be able to rank those amounts to determine the "most mined" cryptocurrency.

I think you did forget to create a .geistgeld folder in your home directory and put the config there Smiley

Checkout the readme in git, and/or the linux walkthrough at geistgeld.org Smiley

You need to use the right conf file. You can't just create it.

Not tenebrix, .geistgeld - that was a Brain-O which I didn't edit away in time.

This thing needs Specialsauce Config to be in the ~/.geistgeld (it keeps half its guts in the config)

You can check out the walkthrough for linux here http://www.geistgeld.org/get-started.html

Warning about NTP means that you are best to restart - most likely, you've merely got a shitty NTP server talking to you (I find the "ntp=0 crowd strikes again" to be somewhat implausible at this point), but better safe than sorry.

Getting transaction error:
Code:
user@miner:~$ ./ggd sendfrom "" .... 10000
error: {"code":-4,"message":"Error: Transaction creation failed  "}
(address removed from paste)
The same thing happens with sendtoaddress  command
my getinfo:
Code:
{
    "version" : 36977,
    "balance" : 10095.36637813,
    "blocks" : 149802,
    "connections" : 8,

    "generate" : false,

    "keypoololdest" : 1318209102,
    "paytxfee" : 0.00000000,
    "errors" : ""
}
Been mining solo for a few days, with properly forwarded ports.
I tried to recompile the daemon, but the error remains.
I tried to change the transaction fee to 1 GG and to 10 GG but nothing again.

Any ideas?

Fiat no more.

10000 at once is too much.
Assuming your inputs are block rewards (7 GG each), you're trying to create a transaction with 1429 inputs.
each input is ~230 bytes -> that'd be a ~330kB tx.
Stock client refuses to create transactions > 100kB.
So if all you have are generations, either do 3000GG or less at a time, or if it has to be a single tx send to yourself first to consolidate your generations into a few bigger outputs.

Why the interface GUI for GG is very different from other currency clients?
Tenebrix has a nice interface which is very easy to send & receive coins.
While in GG client it is very hard to use every option.
Every time we have to wait & check with getinfo whether we got NTP connection or not.
Also to check balance have to use getinfo & cannot copy address that easily.
Also no address book to see stored address.
While the default bitcoin has all these facilities, why GG for windows created & forced to use commands instead of GUI?

Thanks a lot, I should have thought so. Then again, I had never experimented with such a big transaction. Good thing to have in mind with all the alt chains.
