@molecular: I double checked my bitcoin conf file and you are correct, it was set to pregenerate 100 addresses. Yet I can still only see a few in the address book from the bitcoin GUI. Does the client set them aside for later use, when I initiate the getnewaddress rpc? I wonder if I increased this number up to, 500, for example - then restarted the client, would it pregenerate 400 additional new addresses and add them into the wallet? You'll have to excuse my lack of knowledge on the subject, I am still getting to grips with the ins and outs of the protocol. Also, just want to thank whoever it was who sent the very kind donation earlier. It is very much appreciated!  |

In order to get the maximum amount of activity points possible, you just need to post once per day on average. Skipping days is OK as long as you maintain the average.

Does the client set them aside for later use, when I initiate the getnewaddress rpc? I'm assuming exactly that and I remember being told on #bitcoin-dev that's the way it works. There also seems to exist a rpc call "keypoolrefill" I just discovered (that's a modded version 0.5 of bitcoind, however, so you'd have to check with "help" if you have that). If it does what it sounds like, this would be something to call before the wallet-backup to avoid address loss in backup. In the end, to verify these assumption, we'd have to look at a wallet dump. I have a patched bitcoind on another system that has the sipa:showwallet patches ( https://github.com/sipa/bitcoin/tree/showwallet). These add a "dumpwallet" rpc call that dumps all the keys in the wallet (not just the ones displayed in the gui) in a human-parsable json format. I remember it was painfull to get these patches working and compile bitcoind. So maybe looking at pywallet (I never did myself) and verifying the behaviour of "keypoolrefill" and "-keypool=n" might be a good idea? Again, I'm assuming that's what would happen. If you want, I can verify these assumed behaviors using pywallet... I've been wanting to check that out anyways for importing/exporting keys (e.g. for casascius key import) |

I am going to have to increase the price of this service considering the recent drop of 25% in the exchange rate. I have not raised prices all the way down from $5. While I am willing to subsidize the fiat costs for the benefit of users, I am not willing to run this business at a loss for an extended period of time.
I am thinking of a base rate of around 0.08 btc/GB.
Could shareholders and users weigh in with their opinions on what a reasonable price would be?
Anyone who has already purchased bandwidth will not be affected by this price rise.

Even 0.1 BTC/GB is reasonable in my mind. 0.099 is stupid. I don't know how you came up with 0.08 BTC/GB, but it seems pretty much exactly right. |

FWIW, I always thought 0.05 BTC/GB was quite cheap. 0.1 seems reasonable. I speak as both a user and a shareholder. |

It's your business, do as you please, users will "vote with their feet" as we say in Germany. I relly enjoy your business and I think it's one of the very few that is really viable (legal concerns aside). Raise the prices, I'm-a-gonna-be on the lowest rebate level soon anyhow. Speaking of which: How are the bundle prices created? I noticed that you are selling the 10GB pack at the same rate you are selling the 50GB pack... or am I getting different rates from other, more infrequent users? If you were to offer a 100GB packet... would that be even cheaper? Maybe I'm thinking it wrong, but I guess there's a little wiggle room for more profit right there. That being said, for me as a potential shareholder profitability IS a concern. |

so the bundle is created on the CURRENT discount, not taking into account the discount i WOULD be elegible for when using the package? |

The discount levels are based on how much you download. If you download 20GB, you get 10% off.
When you buy bandwidth, you will not receive discount until you actually use it. It's just a convenience.

I have paid this months dividend. Here is a breakdown of this month:
Total Downloads: 407
Total Users: 67 and growing steadily.
Total Income: 29.53215 btc.
30% shares held by shareholders = 8.859645 btc
- October dividend overpayment: 6.30582962
= Net Dividend: 2.55381538 btc (0.00851271793333 btc/share).
Unfortunately, due to the overpayment last month the dividend per share is quite low. However, the earnings for the month have been significantly better than last month (330.6% higher) and the dividend/share should have been 0.02953215 btc/share if not for the clerical error I made with the previous dividend payment. That is a 14.8% ROI from my IPO price of 0.2 btc/share.

I just discovered that the bitcoin daemon had crashed on the server. I'm not sure how long it has been like that, but if you tried to send payment and it failed to give you a payment address, everything is back to normal again.

As an additional service, I think it would be quite useful if a customer could submit a bunch of related links (eg. movies usually get chunked up into different links) from public storage sites (Megafile Upload, Hotfile and the like), BitCoinTorrentz would download all of them, package them into a single torrent and then send the customer the torrent file for the customer to download. Basically the service gives the customer the convenience of bypassing all the hassle associated with downloading from those public storage sites. I'd probably pay for something like that  Still, BitCoinTorrentz as it is now is a great idea and dovetails neatly with the potential of Bitcoin. Kudos! (I've translated my praise into coin by buying some shares.) |

Thanks for the tip, Molecular. Pyload looks interesting, I'll check it out. I think BitCoinTorrentz.com could offer something along similar lines; with the added convenience that all the customer would have to do is download a single torrent file to download. |

Cool site cunicula. I think that would be a very effective method of advertising indeed! hehe.
I ran my own home IP address through it and it found a few torrents I downloaded a while back. Then I ran the ip address of bitcointorrentz.com through it and zilch, nada. It's good to know that the steps I have taken to prevent torrent data sniffing on the server are working.
